Dave is up on the roof trying to get as much snow off as he can before the next accumulation, We have had big flakes in the air off an on for the last hour but nothing of substance. Off to the accountant in 20 minutes (she cancelled our first appointment due to a storm.

I've never tried coloring my hair. It seemed like too much of a bother, and I've seen hair that looks ghastly after going through the process.

Some hair does get darker as people age. Mine seems to have done that. It was medium brown most of my life, but now it's closer to black--the part that isn't gray, that is. It's about 30% gray now.

My sympathies to anyone who has to shovel snow. I think I'd be tempted to leave the snow there, since there's just going to be more of it anyway, and wait until the spring thaw, but I know you can't do that. Roofs cave in, important delivery vehicles and emergency personnel can't get through.

Well, it has to go somewhere. Some parts of the world have severe water shortages. Any chance that the snow could be sent their way?

*:) I had a quiet day yesterday. I stayed in bed until 6 PM trying to get my left leg swelling to go down. I got a nice card from my son Jim and family. Andy came by in the afternoon and gave me a heart shaped box of chocolates.

Some time yesterday I lost my 1855 Lady Liberty gold coin and diamond ring. I have had it for ages. I bought it on lay away paying $50 a month until it was paid off. I hope it will turn up. Next time Andy stops I will get him to check the van good and to look under my bed as I can't get down that low.

Andy is coming by and after he leaves I am going back to bed with the Sunday paper and keep my foot up. Keep warm everyone. Jeanie :)

I hope you are able to find them.

David says 8 inches so far but it is blowing hard and is too cold to stay out for long shoveling. Becky called from Arlington, MA this morning at 10 of 10 (just as church should have been starting for her (she is a priest in Concord) and said everything was halted up there. Said the snow cleared from the street is already covering part of the livingroom window (about 8 feet at the bottom from ground level). I just found out they have a snow blower so don't have to work as hard to move all the snow but she says there is little place to put it right now. My Mom says they got another 6 inches in Upstate NY.

I have a safe, and keep gold and coins and important papers like my will in it. Several places carry them, and they aren't expensive.

Well for the first time (in over 14 years) my pipes froze last night. It's very cold but sunny, so I hope they will thaw without bursting a pipe.

Sorry those of you on the eastern side of the country are having such horrible weather. Thinking of you. We lived in Wisconsin for a year and that was enough for me. I would have a bad case of cabin fever about now! We're suffering with 70 degree weather here. Birds are nesting, wildlife multiplying, weeds taking over.
The sunsets continue to be amazing! We built this house with the view from the living room facing southwest, with three large sliders looking out through an unobstructed view . . . no power lines, roofs, ect., so we get amazing sunset views with just the black silhouette of the winter leafless oaks against the beautiful colors. So pretty. Here's a couple of pics, one from last week and one from inside my house tonight. Enjoy.

:) No luck so far finding my ring. I even had my son look under the bed and under my van. I checked out the inside of the van good. Went through the trash cans in the house and looked everywhere. I am still hoping the ring will turn up. I also went to Friendly's to eat that day and to Publix to grocery shop. I called them and no one has turned in a ring.

I really think I lost it in the house. When the weather is cold it slips on and off easy. It came off earlier in the week and I put it back on. I wish now I had put it away or put tape on it to keep it from slipping off. I am hoping I'll find it. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, I've lost so many things it's my specialty by now. I do find 90% of them. My advice is to go through your laundry before you even think about putting it in a washer, and go over your bedding with a fine-tooth comb. I've found lots of things that way. Go over every inch of the floor with a flashlight.

Move pieces of furniture you may never have moved before.

Most of all, try to remember when you last had the ring and what you were doing, then retrace your steps and the movements you might have made. Did you take it off for some reason and set it in an unusual place?

This is where I often lose things. I'm in a hurry and I put something in an unusual place. I even make a mental note to myself to remember that I put the thing there. Then I FORGET the mental note.

And think outside the box. As a contact-lens wearer for 25 years, I used to lose lenses from time to time. They absolutely had to be found, and I almost always found them--but in such weird places.

Once with a flashlight I found one clinging to the side wall of a bathroom sink drain. Of course I was supposed to use the drain stopper, and I knew that, but for some reason hadn't done that.

One of my kids dropped a ring down the drain and it was gone forever. You might have a way of getting into your pipes and looking though.

I just know you're going to find it!

Good advice Agate. I lose things fairly often, and always end up finding it, but only after I've worked myself into a frenzy!
