Howie, my two brothers were talking about how much they really liked windows 10 a couple of weeks ago at dinner. Both of them said they had removed something, but I can't remember what it is and that made it really work well. They say it is close to windows 7 and they liked that better than windows 8.1.
Cherie, what a bummer to be diagnosed as diabetic. I know you had been watching it, but still I think to hear it said kind of takes a person aback for awhile. It sounds like you have been careful and watching it, so I hope that continues on.
Your sister must be in something of a quandary now that she has been given two very distinct different opinions. I hope the one who says the tumor has not changed is the correct one.
Gary, so glad you are back with us. Hope you can hang around and not get sick again for a very long time.
Nuthatch, the fires in California seem to be getting worse right now, or at least the latest one that just broke out sounds like a bad one. I feel so bad for all those people who loose their home and all their possessions.
Agate, hope you are getting your meds straight.
Sally, glad you are hanging in there but would love to see you improve - A LOT! However, realistically I know that it takes time for physical therapy to work.
Jeanie, we haven't heard from you in a little while. I hope you are alright. I know that the situation with Jamie is getting bad and dealing with the physical and mental toll is hard on you and all the family.
Hi Ann, Vicky, Parsi, Cat and all that I have left out. I will think of everyone after I have finished this post.Virginia

Virginia, my brother has Window's 7, and won't be switching. It's all about being comfortable with the OS you decide to use. I don't care about having "support" which "they" use to make you switch to 10. I've never used support since I've been using the Web. SIMPLE to use is all I really care about. You learn an OS, It's simple to use. There's NOTHING I want to add to what I have now."Given the millions of billions of Earth-like planets, life elsewhere in the Universe without a doubt, does exist."

:) Hi everyone. Glad Sally and Gary are improving. Cherie sorry about the diagnosis.
Yesterday I took Andy and Jamie to her primary care doctor. Andy had helped her dress and we went over to Lake Worth beach and ate at a seafood restaurant overlooking the ocean. I had lobster flatbread with bacon. It was very good and had enough left to have it for dinner.
We went next door and had ice cream and took them over to the other side of the street with a shaded area overlooking the beach. We wound up in the five o'clock trafic but made it home.
I was supposed to go and stay with Jamie while Andy goes to play music with his band this evening but Jamie told Andy she just wanted to sleep so have me stay home. I took a nap but am still quite tired so I am going to bed early tonight.
I had to check first and see what y'all were up to. Take care everyone. Jeanie :)

Virginia , it is a bummer to be told you are diabetic when you have been keeping the numbers below "the level". It is likely a fact of life. All 4 grandparents, both parents. All 6 sibs and i remain the oldest with the lowest A1c and blood sugars and weight. Oh well. I do what I can and may lemonade from lemons. this is not going to break me although I am not happy that the "rules don't apply" anymore.
We are sitting here with the thermometer hovering around 70 and a gentle rain falling. this is heaven!

This is the reason I never go outside without a shirt on and I don't even own a pair of shorts. I could get arrested for blinding a airplane pilot.Originally posted by Howie View PostI'm so white, the sun might reflect off me, and put someone's eye out!
It is 94 deg today and tomorrow it is suppose to be in the 70's then the 60's with rain. Hopefully a gentle rain to water everything and help put fires out. A majority of the Pacific Northwest fires will only be put out with rain and/or snow.A heavy rain will cause more trouble by washing mud and debris down plugging streams and drainage areas along with flash floods.
I just put a double batch of rhubarb crisp in the oven. Cant wait for dessert tonight. Thank goodness I have a full bottle of Humalog insulin in the fridge. Speaking of that I admit that I am a lazy diabetic it is way easier (for me) to take some Lantus every morning that to tightly monitor food and use oral meds. As both of our kids are type one I have given literately hundreds of shots. My last A1c was 6.3 so Dr is happy.
Got a call from our local general surgeon to install a hot water heater in one of his rental properties. He has operated on both my wife and I also does colonoscopy for us. We live in a small town. When our house burned down he over heard our daughter talking about it in the ICU and gave her $200 and said he figured that we were staying with her but he had a couple of extra beds at his house. He is also our neighbor although his house is 6200 sq ft and ours is 2000 sq ft! His wife is an anesthesiologist as well.
I am afraid to switch to Win 10 both the kids constantly nag me to switch to Apple but barring that not to switch until the bugs have worked out. Our first computer had a row of buttons that they had taped a piece of paper on them that said "Dad don't push ANY of these buttons!" That and all of our PC have piece of tape across the cameras my daughter calls them perv cams. She worries too much. Why would anyone want to look at a old fat crippled guy?
Jeannie I am glad that you can be there for Jamie and Andy. That had got to be hard for all of you.
Cherie, if it isn't one thing its another. How is it going with your moms files? I am glad that you are doing that. Someday the family will be glad that you did. I wish that I would have written down stories and antidotes told to me and kept all the pictures. Many of which were from the turn of the last century. Between my mother and my sister they were all thrown away (long story) my dad had labeled all of them with names and dates. Sigh........
I am ready for cooler weather.

Well, Howie I went to dinner with my two brothers again tonight and there they were talking about how much trouble they are having with Windows 10. One has already gone back to 8.1. The other one is still struggling. (Just two weeks ago they were talking about how much they liked it). They both say it is locking up and they can't get to places they want to go to, etc. Thought you might like to know this, since they say misery loves company.Virginia

Woke to cool crisp temps and sunny skies today. temp range here is 59-71 today. Ahhhhhh...... So nice! Back to the 80s for the rest of the week. I am off to Bethesda before dawn Wednesday for a conference and will be back at Midnight Friday night. LONG days and lots of travel. Glad I have the weekend essentially with no responsibility.
I think since it is cool enough today to heat the oven, I may make a Strawberry Rhubarb pie for Dave to pick on while I am away.

Hi folks. Thanks yes I am feeling better.. I believe this Cymbalta is a winner.
Well a decision has been made by me. I am going home with 24/7 in home care. It is the only way DD will ok my coming home. It's either that or the nursing home and since I am otherwise healthy, I'll probably live till 95+ and I'm too young for a nursing home. I'm hoping that DD will see that @ 500.00 per day, I won't need 24/7 care and will be able to do it on my own....God willing.
Take care all, you are on my mind.Love, Sally
