Shepherd's pie is any meat covered by any vegetable topped with mashed potato or cauliflower and baked. So it could be a mystery meat but you should see some layering. The "usual shepherd's pie is ground beef topped with corn topped with mashed potato This is what you will likely be served should you order it in a restaurant.

My sister who lives near me called this morning and asked me to drive her to the chiropractor. She cannot drive for at least 18 months after last seizure (this morning). I took her out to lunch afterwards and we had a long talk that was deeper and more honest than any we have had since the weekend Dad died a year ago. So much pain in her life now and she is not sure how much is related to the brain tumor and how much to stress and grief. Going out with her again Thursday morning. And she is making an appointment with a good counselor. Has never done this but says there is too much pain and too many tears not to see if that will help.

Our neighbor (ER doc with brain tumor) is home from the hospital. His wife will brook no negativity and is urging everyone to visualize healing. She is planning to buy the most expensive juicer on the market and get antioxidants into him to fight the tumor cells still there. David told her to talk to me. I've been through 5 juicers in three years and now just use the Nutri-Bullet. She was really surprised cause it is so reasonably priced. I have reached out to her. Hopefully she will call me on this. She says he is "down and discouraged" but she will not let him stay there. They were in agreements to buy an investment property with David that was to close in two weeks and their loan officer sent them a letter today stating that the loan was denied (no reason given). Fortunately they were considering backing out of the deal or that could have added insult to injury.

Gorgeous here today with bright sunshine and blue skies but it stayed right around freezing with a light breeze all day. Nippy. Supposed to warm up to mid 40s for the next couple of days with rain.

    Gary,
I love the idea of wiring so all lights come on with the flick of a switch but an 1883 home is pretty difficult to do that in. I do have some of the rooms on power strips so flipping the switch on that lights or darkens the whole room.

Thanks Gary. The free weekend of movies wiped me out, and I was a zombie most of the day. In bed, covered up surrounded by the cats, but not sleeping. Listening to, but not watching TV. I'm fighting now to stay awake a little longer.

Just checking up on you, Howie!

Our low temp today was 23 deg and our high temp was 25 deg. We have an inversion going where the high pressure sits over our valley and keeps the temperature cold. Plus it keeps the cloud cover over us as well. Wednesday a storm may move in (hear that Peg?) and push this yucky weather out. We have gone as long as 3 weeks without seeing the sun and a daytime high temperature in the 20's. You get to want a storm blow through because after a few days the air pollution can get as bad as any day during the summer.
