Jeanie, sounds like a terrific meal, to say the least. I know Andy does not expect this, but I think it is really nice gesture on your part to let him know that you recognize all that he does. Glad you got out also. I am paying dearly for pushing and being on my feet much too long. I just hope this is temporary.

By the way to complete my saga regarding my neighbor's family and the food.

After everyone had eaten the food and some had been brought to me and the rest had been divided up, the deceased family arrived at her house sometime around 2:30 to 3:00 and called the lady who had asked for the key at the funeral and told her "they were now ready for the food". I keep laughing every time I think about it. She had to tell them we had eaten the food.

I agree, despite what you went through (I can so relate, I don't do well with last minute changes either), it IS rather funny when you really look at it. Glad you have your sense of humor about it all!

I'm still thinking about Jeanie's filet mignon. My dad used to cook them on the grill pretty regularly. They really would melt in your mouth. That is the best, most tender cut of meat. See, my mouth waters just thinking of them.

Well, my youngest brother called this morning. He is father of my nephew who won the money and car yesterday. He said he just could not win with his kids. He said little by little he had been trying to give my nephew more of his own bills to pay. He is now paying part of or maybe all of his college loans, etc. So.....my brother had just told him last month that he needed to get some wins in because he was going to have to pay for his own car that he has here N.C. It is a leased car, with I think, quite awhile to go on the lease. Now my nephew has a free car that he won for himself and my brother has to keep making the lease payments or figure out something to do with the car. He was laughing about how when told he was going to have to pay he went out and just won a free one.

Is there some way he could pay to get out of the lease for the car in N.C.?

Spoiling kids is not in their best interest; trust me I know. Wish I didn't.

Vicky, he is going to look into what he can do when he gets time. When he called me this morning he said he had to go because he was going to try handling everything to do with the new car from here if he could. He was going to do this so that my nephew could go on to the next tournament in another state. Don't know if they were able to work all this out or not.

Agate, what did I miss? Cat has been fending off bears - how? Maybe she got her shotgun out. I just completely missed out on that.

Virginia, it sounds as if your nephew is having a good laugh over this. I'd be laughing hysterically if I won something like that by playing golf.

We have been having cooler days here in Washington state, so much so that it feels like fall is quickly approaching. I hope this won't mean that we'll have a lot of snow this winter, we didn't have any down at sea level the past couple of years.

I'm happy to finally have internet access again. My life has been somewhat chaotic lately. I'm too adaptable to require a caregiver. The case managers words, not mine. But I have a hard time going to the grocery store, or doctor appointments on my own. I had 3 falls in the month of July, 1 at home and 2 outside.

Physical therapy didn't seem to think I required any kind of mobility device in spite of the fact that I have difficulty walking more than 2 blocks. Saturday I did my shopping, plus my mom's. My mom has caregivers and I have no clue why they can't help her with most of her shopping.

I almost fell down in one of the stores I was shopping in because they didn't have any of the mobility carts available and my legs were on the verge of giving out. It wasn't even so busy in there that that was the reason for the lack of electric carts.

I know I'm relatively young (47), but this MonSter is a horrible thief that has stolen so much from me in the last few years and I'm getting little to no help from the medical professionals I've been dealing with lately. Just a lot of hurry up and wait.

Jendie, I don't know why, but the Food Lion where I shop has at least 6 mobility carts. If there's not one on this entrance, there will be one, or several on the other side. I couldn't shop for myself without them, and that would be a real downer for me.

And this is the place where we can get things off our chest, with others who know exactly what you are going through. I love this place!

Jendie, the PT is wrong. In the last year here, everywhere I have been for any kind of medical appt - even the chest xray- they give each patient a short form asking if they've had any falls lately and if the feel dizzy today. I'd push on getting both a walker or scooter and the assistance at home as needed.
