No, I'm using my desktop that is running Windows 10. I didn't realize you'd changed the avatar. I recalled seeing the interior of Pinky but I thought a of it was pink.

I went to meditation tonight and for first time we only had five people. Everyone seems to have something wrong with them. Two of them had never missed as long as I have been going. So glad I showed up tonight.

Well, you can use something like that Howie, but you actually can just sit there and try to get your mind to go blank, or you can just focus on one word such as "Peace" or a sentence over and over. Of course my mind wonders around from place to place and I pretty much think the way I do when I am home by myself. Then I catch myself and try to get back to whatever I have chosen for that night.

The people who do this daily or most days really can get into it and say they benefit tremendously from it. Unfortunately, I have not yet done that. I am a once a month show up - if I can.

Coping with computer issues is just part of modern life, is it? I'm getting used to this but can't say I'll ever enjoy being on the phone with a tech person for an hour and a half trying to resolve a connectivity problem.

These computer people have us all by the short hair. If your hair is long, they have you by the long hair.

They "rolled out" Windows XP with fanfare and trumpets years ago. I was lucky enough to get it and it has worked fine for these last 12 years.

But they kept on rolling out more versions of Windows.

"If it ain't broke, why fix it?" is what I told myself and kept on with my dear WinXP.

But a couple of years ago the clouds began to gather over WinXP. "This version of Windows will no longer be supported as of [date]" was the message.

Then Javascript wouldn't update, and so I wasn't able to see many YouTube and other interesting things online. Sometimes I could but it was always slow and jerky.

So now I have Win10 at last and a new gadget to pay around with, an all-in-one computer that looks brand new. It may be rebuilt--it was a freebie--but it came with its parts all wrapped in shiny plastic, looking quite new to me.

I had a few connectivity problems but I believe that a nice young woman at CenturyLink has spent an hour and a half on the phone with me while I plugged and unplugged various cords and entered IP numbers and jumped through all kinds of hoops.

I've been through this before many times with older computers but it's been a while. I was getting rusty.

And I had to wait for a time when I felt up to it. It took me 5 days to reach that time but tonight I finally decided to give it a try.

My point about the computer people is that they keep forcing everyone to upgrade, and that's usually costly. So we're all going into debt just to stay connected and keep up with the times.

It's said that the reason all of these frequent upgrades are needed is that the technology is moving so fast.

I can believe that. I'm breathless watching the pace it's moving at.

So here I am with Windows 10 and all connected.

The new keyboard will take a bit of getting used to because the touch feels different but my spelling mistakes are underlined with a wavy red line!

Who needs an editor or proofreader? I have a wavy red line!

This is why I have and always have had a Mac. I don't even know what the original Windows is, let alone the latest version.

I've never had to download anti-virus software. When new versions of applications become available, I receive an automatic alert.

Everything is easy with a Mac. I can't even imagine the frustration of having a PC. And I never will.

Technological upgrades are the epitome of planned obsolescence. It's all about MONEY.

I hope that everything continues working well for you, and I applaud you for persevering!

With my iPad I've begun to be aware of the joys of a Mac. Yes, anti-virus protection is a must on a PC. I've always used Norton and like to think they've taken good care of me but it's pricey.

The best OS for someone like me, was WebTV. Super simple, and virus-proof.
I hated to see it go, but think it was just TOO good. Bill needed another swimming pool.
