My response about Howie s fracture had nothing to do with politics. Only had to do with your reluctance to accept any suggestions...about your ankle, about your income and how to supplement it, about all the equipment you have and refuse to use until you've done serious damage to yourself, your refusal to follow medical advice until forced to do so...as I said, your bullheaddedness. That's all. Four o'clock in the morning come across more harshly than intended. I'm sorry.

Howie, I just hope your ankle is going to mend soon and completely. Did the Doc say how long it should take? It's already been broke for awhile now. Do take care of it. Smart as they are I still don't believe Sam and Seven put together can wrap that ace bandage and take care of themselves and you.

      Stay healthy!

What is all this talk of snow and winter weather. Where is it? It has been so mild here for so long. Except for that one little spell of sleet and ice a couple of weeks ago, we have not known what winter is this year.

You sound cast down about your weather. Be of good cheer! There are those who would gladly trade places with you.

My good deed yesterday, since it was so delightful out (sunshine and in the 40s), was to knock down a branch that has been lodged in a tree outside my window for at least a year now. It was a huge branch, fallen from one of the taller firs nearby.

I kept thinking a strong wind would blow it down but it didn't happen. In the meantime I've been looking at it out there as it weighed down the tree branches it was resting on.

Ta-Da! I went out there with my long-handled duster gadget and kept shaking at it until it came down. It was about 4 feet long and a couple of feet wide and it fell with a satisfying ker-thud.

Tenants aren't really supposed to be doing this kind of thing, and so keep it under your hats, please, those who have hats.

Agate got a tree limb down!
Oh sorry, I hope management didn't hear me.

            Thanks for whispering, Howie.

I didn't fell like hauling the big branch all the way through my apartment and through the building and out to the trash. So I left it there, looking for all the world like the many other branches lying on the ground where they've been lying since the last ice storm.

Aside from the fact that I'm lazy, toting it all that way would have been noticed. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING WITH THAT BRANCH? THAT'S NOT YOUR PROPERTY!" is what I might have heard.

So I left it there, and there it remained. But today when I wasn't looking, it disappeared, along with all of the other large branches on the ground.

There are magical forces at work sometimes.

That is such a creative story. I hope you are around next time I need to make up a big fat lie.

                A true story. Scout's honor!

Well, it wasn't magic but it seemed that way. The branches probably were picked up by the maintenance people, doing their job.

And the long handled duster doesn't need to be mentioned. Those guys are busy enough.

My branches fall and they don't generally get picked up that quickly.

Agate, the reason I am somewhat down about the weather is when we had that few days of sleet, snow and ice the humidity went down to zero. I could not walk any better (at least in the house, I couldn't go out), but I just felt better. So, now I want to know if I was just going through a period of feeling better or if it was the humidity. My skin got dry, but I just put more cream on it. Just to feel a little less fatigue was so wonderful and I want to know why. Was it one of those unexplained weird things we do or was it the humidity.

It was some kind of a record for rapid branch removal in a way, but in another way it wasn't.

Those other branches that were littering the yard had been there for a couple of weeks. I picked a time to do my branch caper when the staff people were here and the weather was good enough for them to think about walking through the yard and picking up branches.

I tried to give some serious thought to this because half the people in the building could have looked out their windows and seen me doing this--and some might have been unpleasant enough to report me.

I tried hard to keep a low profile. But I was tired of seeing that branch dangling and waving in the wind, always looking as if it was going to land on some squirrel or cat.

You had better not hurt a kitty cat, or I'm sending you know who!

My vote is on the humidity.

We have a saying in these parts, "It's not the heat, it's the humidity".

When I lived in Louisville, KY the air would become what they called "super saturated" and the humidity level reached above 100%. Talk about hot and sticky!

People who live in the desert might have temps of 110* and think it feels just fine. But it's 0% humidity. Even your clothes and skin always feel dry. I think I would prefer that to moving to a cold climate to escape hot and humid.
