    Still sleeping?

Good morning all. I'm not sleeping tonight so I can hit the grocery store as soon as it opens. Of course the dump and bank come first, and after the store, I'll go to CVS and get that done today too. And 2 pieces of mail when I leave first thing.

Payday is my busiest day of the month. And getting no sleep will make it easier to go to sleep tonight, and get back on schedule. Right now, Sam and I am sort of watching TV. I had a new channel added this week. I think it's a movie channel, but I need to watch it more to tell.

Well, going for more coffee. Sometimes it helps, and other times, it makes me sleepy.

    Have a great day everyone!

Virginia, thanks for the message about the cables but I think I'm ok....I think it will be a matter of simply disconnecting the old Tvs and plugging in the new ones.... The DISH guy will have to do all that anyway if he is going to replace their receiver box. The way it seems to work is that there's this dish on the roof, a line running from it alongside the house then into the room where the receiver is located, then into the receiver. Then the tv and recorder are plugged into the receiver. Same thing with the second tv. So everything gets unplugged, disconnected, the receiver replaced, the recorder installed, everything reprogrammed.....and we were promised he'd do all that for free. So I think we be ok. But I really am ignorant about this fancy technology so if I issue a whiney message on Sunday, you'll know I was wrong! 😁

I'm back, but have to go right back out. I got done with the grocery shopping so fast, CVS wasn't even open yet. So I came home, and put everything away, and will go back out to CVS as soon as I catch my breath.

Cat Dancer, I hate having to deal with anything remotely like technology. Back when I was still subscribing to Comcast's basic cable service, which I had to get just to have any TV reception, I dreaded times when some technician had to come out and play around with cables. I never knew exactly what was going on--and was afraid that the technician might not know either.

With luck, your setup will be all patched up and in working order soon.

Howie, it's too bad you have to make an extra trip.

It will be "only" 104' here today, or at least that's what the forecast is.

I got my meds, and decided to "rest my eyes" when I got back. I just woke up. DOH!

Well, it says 107' here just now. Nuthatch won't be impressed but maybe some others will sit up and take notice.

Bring on the ice cubes! I'm going to make iced tea.

It's just 78 here right now. The winters aren't great but summer can be nice. Up to 85 tomorrow and then upper 70s for a while.

But muggy, Vicky, at least in the city.

Agate, you must feel like a prisoner. So hot there!

Now it's 109' as I whined in another thread already.

I feel like less of a prisoner, actually, than in many years. In other summers I just didn't go anywhere at all unless I absolutely had to. Routine medical appointments got shoved into spring or fall months.

But the transit system now has all of its vans air conditioned. This was a game-changer for me.

In the past, some of them were, and I seemed to land in those that weren't all too often. A couple of hours riding around in a hot van just saps my strength.

Agate, I am so impressed with your heat, but I just do NOT want any of it. We've got enough of our own. I don't know what the temp was here today, but I did go out for a couple of hours. I guess I can assume that you are not going on any 25 minute walks right now.

Howie, was certainly an early bird today. Money just needed to be spent - right Howie!

Cat, the Dish man might be being paid by Dish. I think the one who installed mine when I had it was.

:) Hi everyone. Our feel like temps have been over 105 all week and I have mostly stayed inside. I went to the grocery store Saturday and had a flat tire on my van. I tried to call AAA on my cell but could not figure out how to press one for road service as the numbers were gone.

I went into Publix and used their phone. I had to wait in the shade in the heat. Luckily the man was there quickly and had the tire fixed fast. Then he taught me how to get the numbers back on my phone.

Tuesday Jim came and fixed my toilet and vacuumed the back porch carpet, my van and had his friend get on my computer from his location and install a professional protection system on my computer. Because I have slow DSL it took until after 8 PM to do it. It runs in the background all the time, so I guess that is good.

Today Andy came, mowed the grass, bathed Lacy, picked mangoes, trimmed the bushes, blew off the driveway. The driveway was about an inch deep in red flowers from the royal poinciana tree. All the rain and wind brought many down. They stick to my scooter wheels when I go to the mailbox and I end up sweeping them up in the house.

I have to go out tomorrow and I will run from AC to AC. No more rain forecast for tomorrow, but hot. Stay cool everyone. Jeanie :)

That is just too hot for you to be out in that kind of heat Jeanie. No wonder you had trouble dialing on your phone. When I am out and it is that hot, if I am not in air conditioning, I absolutely just can't think. You do so well. I am glad both Jim and Andy have been there to help out this week.

Be careful when you go out tomorrow. I hope you do not have any more trouble.

I'm that way too, and it's scary. Vision goes bad too.

That's why I stay up all night, so I hit the stores as early as I can, and beat the heat. And one thing really nice about the Food Lion where I shop, it's always so cool. I always take a deep breath of that cool air when I first enter.

I never ate today, a few crackers was it. But I have all the ingredients for another big pot of pasta. It was delicious, and lasted great. I bought my milk and bread, and made coleslaw. I'll make a big pasta dish tomorrow....uh...today.

Now TRY to behave. It influences Sam, and gives her ideas!

Jeanie, that sounds like a hellacious day. I cannot imagine breaking down in this Florida heat. Not good.
