Ann, I have a theory that things sometimes lose themselves. Suddenly they find themselves and presto, they're right there in front of you.

Truly, this must be so aggravating. They will find themselves as soon as you order and pick up a new expensive pair. It's Murphys Law.

Peter found my glasses on his second tour of the house. He picked up our light quilt and sheet and shook them. My glasses fell out.

Well, it was about time for them to come home.

You'd given up, right, ANN? You have to give up sometimes but you can't just be saying you've given up because you think that by saying that, the lost thing will magically reappear. You have to have given up for real and really know the despair of giving up and the sense of resignation. You have to SUFFER before this magic happens, and the thing is found.

Glad the glasses were found. Howie's cat Sam just might have had something to do with this incident.

And are you saying that the Queen drinks her lunch? Maybe that's the secret to her long life. She's 91.

Ann, I just knew Peter would come through for you when he got home - and just think of all that wasted energy you spent taking the bed-linens off the bed and having to remake it. Glad you got them back.

Vicky, that is interesting. Make sure a note gets to the Queen from all of us. I am sure she would love to hear that she is a topic of conversation on our forum.

TV guy was here when he said he would be here! We were shocked! Usually these kinds of things never work out. TC loves his new flat screen. Keeps commenting on how CLEAR it is and how BRIGHT it is and how much better he can SEE it. :) Our old TV was I think a 32 inch diagonal screen...heavy sucker.... New TV is a 40 inch diagonal, weighs about 19 pounds. My new little TV (in the bedroom) is a 32 inch diagonal..Haven't really played with it much as I was making sure TC was comfortable with his. So now I'm going to get ready for bed and check out MY tv. :) The guy did all the checking, wiring, put on a new dish on the roof, and even hooked up our old VCR/DVD player for us...so we can watch VCR tapes and DVDS now! We had been doing that prior to going to satellite...but when we had to switch over, it never got hooked up properly and we were never able to use it again. So it sat here collecting dust all these years. But now it's back, working, and I even know which buttons to push on the remote for us to be able to watch! WHEEEE. Tuffy Cat will be happy -- we have an Audubon bird tape that he loves... he used to watch intently, then tried to climb behind the TV set to see where the bird flew off to! :)

Anyway. Without the satellite here in the country, we would be able to only get one station, and that only occasionally. So if we want TV at all, we have to do the satellite. But it is all in place now, and hopefully will continue to work!

I'm heading off to bed now, to watch ...and play with my remote. Supposedly we're able to get AmazonPrime on the set, too...and then I'd be able to watch all the movies I've been watching through my kindle.. I don't know how technically challenging I want to be..
...I am not a doctor nor medical professional, and don't pretend to be one, here... :o

That sounds good, Cat. You deserve a break.

Amazing that a repair guy of any kind showed up in the alotted time slot.

So Tuffy can watch his bird video, and all's right with the world!

Howie, maybe Sam needs more entertainment. Have you thought of getting her a video she might enjoy? More suggested titles: "Of Mice and Men," "The Birds."

Cat, sounds like all is good in your world again. So glad TC is happy with his new toy. He will be changing channels like crazy. Boys have to have their toys your know. It was nice of him to hook all your equipment up and show you how to use everything. Wish we had more people like that.

Now, if only Howie would get Sam some programs she likes. Agate has given him some good ideas. Howie, you know you are supposed to spoil your child a little bit sometime.

I got her Bye Bye Birdy, To Kill a Mocking Bird, and The Crow 1&2, plus One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Tell me I don't treat my little bird watching girl like a golden egg! And watching birds can make her "chatter", which is what I call it.

                            So how was your weekend?

I'm trying to stay awake until Sea Hunt comes on. TV is my life these days. But I found the time to arrange all my fans in here. "Here" from now on will be called Howie's Cave.

I never leave this room for very long, so I've made it as comfortable as I can.

I was prepared to go to sleep awhile ago, took my usual 2 sleep med tabs, then I decided to stay awake, and I can. That's why I like it. It doesn't knock you out, but when ready, helps you to drift away.

I haven't looked recently, but would bet Sam is on the sofa in the living room. She curls up there even when she takes her midday nap.

A new week begins, but I'm staying put until Tuesday. That's their big restocking day, but right now, I can only think of a few things I need, mostly beer. Not because it's cheaper, but because carrying a whole case it a real workout. I've been getting the 18 pack.

So have a great day sleepyheads.

My weekend was much much busier than usual. I had more social life this weekend than I've had in ages.

On Saturday a friend of my daughter's came to visit. I'd seen her once before, but that was 21 years ago, when she stayed with me for a few days. She lives in San Francisco but was up here looking at this town and getting an impression of it with an eye toward retiring here. I was really glad to see her but her visit was a complete surprise. She called up a couple of days before with the news that she was in town. I'd had no idea she was thinking about this trip.

She said not to go to any trouble cleaning up but the place was looking too seedy, and anyway I had to clean up because my son and DIL were scheduled to be here on Sunday for a visit they've been trying to do every month or so. They keep busy with her family--her parents and brother and his family are all here in town--but try to pencil me in as well, which I appreciate.

So I went through a flurry of housework, mopped the floors, did a bit of vacuuming, and cleaned the bathroom. Saturday my daughter's friend was here most of the day. No lunch and no nap for me, and I was exhausted by early evening.

I slept and slept on Saturday night--woke up at 8:30, which is very late for me.

The weather stayed in the mid-90s all weekend but the nights cooled off, and there was the miracle of air conditioning.

Yesterday only my son turned up as his wife wasn't feeling well, but we had a nice visit.

Now I'm catching up on laundry and making a grocery list and a few phone calls.

My daughter's friend is a consulting psychologist who freelances --mainly consulting with graduate students and other researchers about papers they're working on. She loves San Francisco but is thinking that maybe a smaller city would suit her better in retirement.

Howie, it's good to know you have provisions to last you for a while. Outside it can be like a blast furnace.
