Sounds like you both managed to make it through reasonably well without major difficulties that won't mend soon.

Thank goodness everything turned out far better than it could have, I'm so grateful!

While in the beauty shop late this afternoon, a lady commented that her brother in Atlanta had just lost power. So it could be that BBS might not have power where she is at this time.

        ((((((Hugs to All)))))) ~

Irma sure carried a wallop, but it seems that she didn't do as much damage as expected thankfully. As we watched news coverage day and night, it was reported that the storm surge was less than anticipated. Nonetheless, there is quite a bit of damage and flooding, and as Jeanie and BBS know, power outages. A Republican Congresswoman was interviewed today, and she said it is time for DT and Gov. Scott to stop denying that climate change is real. I thought she was quite brave.

Jeanie ~ I'm so thankful that you and Lacy are okay. And you are truly blessed with Andy and Jim to help you. I hope that Andy's townhouse can be repaired soon, and that your power returns very soon too. That's amazing you slept through Irma. I would have been wide awake stressing and terrified.

BBS ~ I hope you're able to get a flight out of Atlanta on Weds. Irma should be gone from there then? And I truly hope that your home is intact with no damage or flooding, and that power is returned by the time you arrive.

Ann ~ Good news about your family. Has your pharmacist nephew checked in yet?

Cat ~ May you hear good news about all of your loved ones very soon. It must be so unsettling to wait.

Virginia ~ Irma can just pass by you! That's my prayer.

Many prayers for all who are affected by Irma.

        Love & Light,

We lost power in Atlanta for 12 hours. One moment after my last post! I figure it took down the entire grid. We are on the 14 floor with little storm supplies. GEESH.

My niece, wife, and sister-in-law are fine ... in Decatur, Georgia (north of Atlanta) and only experienced lots of rain. My sis-in-law is getting dialysis at the local hospital today, and they're driving back to Florida tomorrow. Their Florida house is apparently OK...but without power today. They're hoping the power will be on by the time they get back. My other niece is still unaccounted for....

:) So hot! Over 96 outside and about 88 in here. Andy put a 20 inch fan in my bedroom so I won't be as hot as last night. We may not have power for weeks. In Jeanne and Frances we had none for 11 days and 13 days.

The heat makes me feel weak. I will be glad when the power comes back on. Jeanie :)

                  This is a shame, Jeanie.

Is there maybe a motel somewhere that you could get to that has power? I think I'd get myself there and wait it out,no matter what the cost, unless you have ways of keeping your immediate surroundings a lot cooler than the outside.

My suggestions may seem totally impractical. I've never been in Florida or in a hurricane!

I will have to let Jeanie speak for herself, but I expect that it would be very hard to find a motel that had power and if they did I bet they would be full.

--And of course the cost would be astronomical.

This is where the MS Society or the MSAA might make themselves useful, seems to me--maybe by providing transportation for Jeanie and Lacy to a cooler location?

Flying home early a.m. Likely no power for weeks. So, see you later

:) I am happiest in my own home no matter how hot. All the hotels are full and many do not have power. One couple was on the 14th floor and had no supplies. Home is better. Jeanie :)

BBS & Jeanie ~ I can't even begin to imagine how difficult it is to be without power for days, let alone weeks. But watching the news today, it's evident how widespread the damage and flooding is in Florida, so restoring power must be a daunting task. The lack of gas to fuel generators is also a problem.

Search and rescue crews are combing the Keys today, where 90% of the homes/properties on the Keys were either destroyed or damaged. The Caribbean was demolished, particularly the Virgin Islands.

BBS, we will be wondering how you are while you are gone. Hope it will not be as long as you expect. I think you said DH's office had some power, if so get thee there and get cool once in awhile. I hope to see you soon.

Being without electricity is awful here in the country. The cooling is obvious, but also keeping food fresh, cooking, flushing the toilet, bathing, even drinking water, all rely on electricity.

Some homeowners insurance will pay for hotels if your house is not habitable. But of course in Jeannies situation, the whole state is affected, and any open hotels likely are booked solid.
