It is so hard on disabled people to go through these things. Most of them deal with so much already that it just doesn't seem fair that they should have more put on their plate.

BBS, I hope that you and hubby will be safe and out of there in plenty of time. Lean on him and try not to get yourself anymore upset than you can help. It will not do any good.

They are now thinking it might come on to the Carolinas. We have had quite a number of hurricanes and some have come in as far as where I am. A couple really did tremendous damage here. Many people in this area were without power (in extremely hot weather) for as long as 10 days when Fran came through. I think that was in 1996. Hazel hit in 1955 I think and did a lot of damage. There have been a few others, but most of ours have been closer to the coast than I am. After Fran, I don't really breath easy until they are well past N.Carolina.

      ((((((Cat)))))) ~

Your sister-in-law, niece and 3 cats are in my prayers too. It must be so daunting to figure out what to do. We have no idea how we'd evacuate Jon in this situation. Prayers they will be safe.

:) I drove in my pajamas to get take out dinner and the lines at gas stations are 45 minutes long. The turnpike going north is bumper to bumper in places already. The Keys were ordered to evacuate yesterday.

Andy said he stopped at Walmart this morning and the lines were 30 people long and the store looked like world war 3. I am going to Publix tomorrow for a few things, mostly chicken for Lacy and sodas and snacks. I'm sure there will still be lines but I don't mind waiting. I feel ready for Irma. Jeanie :)

Remember Hugo? I even got wind and rains from that one, but never lost power.

Howie, that one passed right over my brother's house in S.C. It was scary. The reason they did not evacuate is because my brother had been somewhere on fishing trip. When he got home his wife was ready to go, but by then they had no place to go. The roads were full, the motels were full, etc. They stayed in their house and during the eye they went out in the yard and talked to some neighbors who had not left and then they waited for the back side of the storm to hit them.

One funny thing happened. Their oldest daughter, here in N.C. called in the middle of the hurricane. She had called before and couldn't get through, but just picked up the phone and dialed again. Her Mother answered and her voice was quivering. She told my Niece they were alright so far and the phone went dead. They had no more phone service after that.

I was down there some time later and brother took me around to see all the damage that was still not cleaned up.

Having a hurricane pass directly over you has to be strange. You have winds battering you from one direction, then the eye passes over, and it's sunshine and blue skies, then it starts all over again, but the winds blowing from the other direction.

It's like if it didn't destroy your property blowing this direction, let's try it from this side. Along with flooding, it can be such a destructive event, and so dangerous. I'm glad BBS decided to head elsewhere.

I guess today will tell where it's going for sure. It sure would be nice is it headed back out to sea.

I hope BBS and her husband did not have any problems this morning as far as getting to Orlando.

Now, we are being told to get prepared. As of right now it is headed more inland in North Carolina than the coast. They are saying that Monday and Tuesday will be our bad days. Governor has brought back emergency people that had been loaned to Houston so that they can get rested in order to be prepared to take care of our state when it hits.

I plan to go out tomorrow and will get some bottled water. I guess some nuts to eat and I am not sure what else, since we are not normally told to prepare for a hurricane. But they do expect power outages, and possibly for a lengthy period of time. That I can hardly stand the thought of.

Virginia, I'm so sorry this is hitting you too.

Hope you can batten down the hatches and do whatever needs to be done. You and BBS and Jeanie definitely don't need this.

:) Andy came this morning with his work crew and they put up my shutters. It is sort of dark in here now. Andy said Publix is not so bad today so I will go later to get a few things. I just got up so I have not checked the news yet. I hope it went further east than they were saying last night. Virginia if it comes there, close all the inside doors and stay in the hall. I have some crossword puzzles to use. Jeanie :)

Made it to Atlanta. DH is now hunting down wheelchair rentals and toilet raising insert. What a clustrf#*k. Very hard, but cats advice worked well. DD had also thought to give Delta a heads up when she booked tix. Bless her heart.

Delta was amazing, wheeling me everywhere even thru trams to rental car. Cheerfully!

So glad BBS and her DH are safe now. I am sorry they will have to be anxious about their home while they are gone. Thanks for letting us know you are in Atlanta BBS.

Jeanie, that is what I was going to do. Just keep all windows closed, which they are anyway due to allergies and get in the hall. I also have a bathroom that is on the inside of the house. No outside walls or windows. I am more concerned about you. Maybe by the time it gets here, if it does, then it will have less punch to it. I think you have a cell phone for safety purposes if I remember correctly. Make sure it is completely charged. I just thought of mine and charged it completely. I have also fixed medicine for a week. I do worry about my Rebif if we loose power. If I am without power my neighbors will be also and I don't know where I can take it. One brother is going out of town. Anyway, he probably would not have power either. I'll just play it by ear and see what happens. Be sure to let us hear from you as soon as you can.

Agate, thanks for the link to the storm information.

My pharmacy stored my refrigerated med for Irma. I wonder if yours would do that for you?

Look, there's another one on the far right. Look how evenly they are spaced from one another.
