BBS, glad you are going to talk to hubby about flying out. No need to go where this storm is likely to go. Hope you don't have a hard time getting tickets to fly out. Fix up plenty of medicine as an out of town pharmacy is not likely to want to give you any.

Jeanie, I guess you have to do what you feel is right for you. It does make it harder when you are scooter bound and have little Lacey. I personally would want out if I could get out, but maybe you feel your house is the safest place for you at this time.

:) My house is safe. It is concrete block and the roof is concrete tiles. Even if I am without power at all we did that before and it was hot but we survived and slept a lot. Luckily my freezer is almost empty of food except for mangoes.

I have a lot of canned soups, vegetables, crackers, etc. And I sleep easily. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, sometimes you're better off staying put where you know you have what you need. Being in an unfamiliar place can be mighty unsettling.

I talked to my SIL just now. The facility they'll be taken to is in north Florida. She's already very familiar with it because they do a practice trip there every year.

She was wondering what to take with her other than the necessary meds.

As we were talking on the phone, someone came in to shut the hurricane shutters on her apartment's lanai....

Got my flight to DD. I have an infusion next Thursday, I sure hope I can be back in time. And that there is a house left. Then th mad dash to find a rental. It's overwhelming, too sick to handle this...

It's another state. Docs can't order another state. And they'd have to pre order the med. Maybe will be back and road driveable in time...

Rules can be bent in emergencies. If the timing of the infusion is important, I should think that they could arrange it somehow. It might not hurt to ask.

It's now up to 185 miles per hour winds. We've never had a hurricane of this force hit the US. If it continues at the speed and intensity it is...the Florida everglades will be a whole lot bigger...at great cost to homes, businesses, etc. I'm sorry that Jeannie is choosing not to leave. You might want to take a sharpie and write your name and ss number on your arm, just in case. They passed out sharpies for Harvey in people in low areas that chose to stay, too. Thankfully most of them moved to shelters at the last minute.

It has a few days in which to calm down but the experts are saying it's not expected to change much.

If it stays this strong, it will be the strongest storm ever to hit the US. And it's 400 miles wide!. Could swallow up the whole state!!

It's really too far out to say where, or even if it will make landfall. After all, it is a hurricane, and we understand nothing about them other than the farther away from you, the better. It can change direction in an instant.

Actually that's not true. It definitely will...and has...made landfall, and although it may waver some, the path is pretty clearly aimed at Florida. A storm this big won't simply disappear...
