    ((((((Cherie)))))) ~

Excellent news that David doesn't have Alzheimer's, and I hope the new neuro will be able to identify the best approach to improving his executive functioning. My husband doesn't listen to me either ~ I think it's a credo in The Husband's Manual! I hope that David will follow the doctor's advice.

Ann, usually only when it comes to wives.

By the way, do you still take copaxone every day or have they changed the dosing. Just wondering.

Cherie, sounds like overall good news about David. Now all you need to do is see to it that he tows the line, as far as what the Doctor had to say.

Are all husbands oppositional? Yes. Actually, I think it's a matter of all MEN being oppositional. They seem to think that they know everything, don't need doctors, don't need medical care...

Cherie, that's good news about your husband. I think it gets difficult when we get older to sort out what issues are related to aging, which are related to a specific illness. And these days both can be treated to some degree.

Speaking of health issues, I'm dealing with cellulitis in one leg. I had noticed earlier in the week that my left leg -- the leg that is "least useful", seemed to be more swollen than the right leg. Wednesday morning I woke up to find my left leg red, the foot almost purple, and very painful. Now, if I can feel pain in my legs I know something is seriously wrong, and generally --other than numbness and tingling, which is constant-- I can't feel anything in my legs. So I called my doctor. I talked to his nurse who, after hearing my symptoms and being reminded of my bout of a blood clot leading toe pulmonary emboli years ago -- urged me to go to the hospital to get an ultrasound on the leg. Which I did. To my relief it was not a blood clot, but instead cellulitis. So I'm on antibiotics for the next 10 days. It's already much better, back to it's normal color, and the pain is nearly gone. I went to the doctor yesterday for a follow up visit At the time of the visit I had only had 4 antibiotic pills and it was already improved to the point that he said instead of the 10 day dose prescribed I could cut it to 7 days, which I probably will.

The GOOD news is that the two visits to the town where the hospital and my doctor are, netted me 2 lunches out, at two different restaurants, one an old fashioned diner with good hamburgers, the other a good Mexican restaurant. And a nice ride through the countryside! :)

Glad your leg is improved, Cat, and glad you got the two lunches. What did you have to eat?

At the diner I had a hamburger topped with blue cheese, and onion rings. At the Mexican restaurant I had a "lunch special" -- two tacos (chicken) topped with red sauce, fried rice, and refried beans. Both restaurants have extensive menus with full dinners, lunches, lots of variety, "senior discounts". It would take us awhile to eat our way through them! :) We'll likely go back to both when the opportunity presents itself...

It is good that you called and went for help. John ignored cellulitis until his pain was excruciating and he almost lost his life. Now he does seek help when a new difficulty pops up.....sort of.

Cat, you just had two lunches out, plus a ride through the countryside, and then right after that you called the person that (I assume) made all this possible for you oppositional. Shame! Poor TC.

I thought I would save this post before next month does it in.

Today, I took my change jar to put it in the change counting machine at the store, and just my luck, the machine was broken. So I just got two items, and the poor cashier had to count it out of my change.

But that will be my last trip out until payday. The day before, I write my 2 checks for the month, and get them ready to mail off on my way out.

It felt warm today, especially inside, but I didn't turn the AC on yet, but I will soon enough. I got my electric bill today (online) and it was $68.00! I wish it was like that year round.

After careful thought, I called CVS, and dropped my last two BP meds. I see my doctor in May, so no big deal.

                          Well, have a great evening!

"Dropped" your last two BP meds? As in cancelled or stopped them? Are you checking BP at home? How high has it been running. How soon in May? Mother Hen wants to know!

Now Mother Hen, just stay calm, remember your BP! I have one I'm still taking, and have been for years. Of the two I dropped, one I am taking half a tablet, then in another week, I'll cut that down to a fourth, and by the time that's done, I'll be close to seeing my doctor on the.....I'd have to look it up, but soon.

Howie, do they have any of those little booths where you can check your own BP in supermarkets there?

If you don't have a home BP monitor, why not find one of those and use it? If you're changing the BP dosage on your own, it might be a good idea to know what your BP is doing as a result....

(We were mentioning men. Most men seem to have the idea that it's very bad form to do anything that even remotely looks like taking care of themselves.)
