:) Hi everyone. I am sorry some of you are still having Winter. We are in the 80's most days, but before long we will go into the 90's.

I have been taking sponge baths for about a week. Last night I hardly slept any so I got up at 9:30 and took a shower and shampooed my hair. It took me a long time with several rest periods but I feel better clean. I hope to get dressed soon and take Lacy to get her nails clipped.

Andy will be here to bring in the trash and recycle bins about 3. I will find out what time he is coming tomorrow and Jim will meet him here so they can put the porch roof panels that blew off back on. Jim will fix a computer problem too and Andy will mow the yard.

I am so grateful for all their help. Andy worked on the roof tiles yesterday. I need to go to the grocery store. I hope later I will feel up to that as my freezer is pretty empty. I still have some Compleat dinners and I like the Dinty Moore Beef Stew one of those.

Virginia I hope you feel better. Howie I am saying prayers for you that you don't have any more seizures. Jeanie :)

Thank you Jeanie. Unfortunately, I did have another just as I sat up first thing this morning. But it was milder. Perhaps once that med I think is causing this is out of my system completely, they will stop. Time will tell.

Howie, I hope you'll have no more seizures. Since you like to stay away from doctors, one of them may have to pay you for the privilege of assessing your condition. Until that happens, it's good that you're staying optimistic, and the seizures may very well be caused by something you've been "ingesting" as the medical people say.... Seizures aren't any fun to put up with, as I noticed when I watched my cat go through several of them. All I could do was watch and make sure she didn't injure herself.

Cherie, that's such encouraging news about your niece. Thanks for the link to the shoe place. They do have a wide selection--even diabetic socks!

I'm not a doctor, obviously! But, if there is one thing that I know a lot about, it's seizures. I'm concerned now that you have had another breakthrough seizure, and I don't want you to start having a pattern.

Just speculation here ~ both seizures occurred after you had been laying down and then sat up. Perhaps your blood pressure is dropping severely, when you go from supine to sitting. This is where a BP monitor is helpful, so you can immediately assess your BP.

Whether you make an appointment to see your doctor or not, you should call him to tell him that you are having seizures. I strongly suspect that the BP meds could correlate to these "episodes." Your doctor needs to determine a safe way to maintain a good BP for you, but not allow it to drop drastically, prompting a seizure.

You might also need to have an EEG to determine whether you are having seizure activity, or if the episodes are directly related to a huge BP drop when you sit up.

Seizures, which go untreated, can lead to more seizures. This is nothing to take lightly, Howie. You are at greater risk of falling and being injured. Please call your doctor.

                Sending healing prayers~

I see this as BP related. It's standing up from lying down is when it happens.

And let me explain "seizures". This is what my doctor called them the first time I had them. I think of seizures as the body jerking wildly. These are not like that. If I had one of these, you couldn't tell unless you were paying close attention.

I've had 2 today, both from lying flat to standing up. That has to be a reaction to the new blood pressure meds I started, but one I've been taking since January. So that leaves the one I started 5 days ago.

Yesterday, I took one when I got up and almost passed out, and took no more. Today I've taken none, and have learned not to lie down. Sitting on the bed, I'm fine standing. Getting up today gave me a mild episode, and I laid down and got up after awhile, had a much milder episode.

So no lying down until I'm ready to sleep, and I'll see how tomorrow is, if I have one at all. Thanks to everyone for your concern. I will let you know in the morning how I am.

Most people associate seizures with convulsions (once known as Grand Mal, now known as tonic clonic seizures). However, as I mentioned there are many types of seizures.

Here is a fairly comprehensive explanation of the various types of seizures:

Whether you are having seizures or low BP, if these episodes continue into tomorrow, please call your doctor. For your safety and well being, you need medical advice and guidance to manage either scenario. They aren't the same as pulling teeth!

We're only nagging, because we love you, Howie.

So sorry that you and Dave got what sounds like Norovirus on your cruise. Here’s an article about how to protect yourself, while on a cruise. Of course, hand washing is #1.

Congratulations to your niece for losing so much weight and now being pregnant! A very close friend had by pass surgery, and after she lost a huge amount of weight, she had surgery to remove the extra skin. That is a very painful surgery, and she had an incision half way around her body. Lots of staples. She was told not to climb stairs, but she climbed them. Ended up in ER, bleeding profusely. So, it’s very wise of your niece to not have that surgery now.

I’m so very sorry that your neighbor, Ruth, passed. She was so young. I can only imagine how traumatic it is for her sister, who found her, and for her daughter, as well as you and Peter. I’m sending prayers for peace and comfort for all of you.

                      Virginia ~

How long is it now that you’ve been feeling unwell? We need to get you an elixir to kick that virus out of your system! I’m glad that you’re eating well. Please take good care of yourself. Sending healing prayers ~

You are so blessed to have such wonderful sons, who help you in so many ways. Please hug Andy and Jim for me, and tell them that I thank them for taking such good care of you.

Is there any kind of grocery delivery service in your area? Try doing a search for grocery delivery services, and see what comes up. Never mind! I searched and Instacart serves WPB!

Since I discovered Instacart, I haven’t been to the grocery store for months. It’s wonderful! It’s just so easy to order on line, have someone shop for you and deliver the goods to your door. To me, the cost of delivery and tip is worth not having to go to the store, shop, load/unload bags from the van, into the house. If you can order groceries on line, you can stay in your pajamas all day!

                      Check it out:

Type in your zip code, and a list of stores serving your area will come up. You can search these stores for the products you want. I always make my list first, then check it off, as I go along ordering. Delivery can be the same day, or any day you choose, and you choose the time. You can track the shopping of your order, communicate with your shopper, leave the shopper instructions, and follow the shopper’s trip from store to your home. All on line!

If you need help navigating the site, maybe Andy or Jim could sit with you the first few times to help you learn how to use it. If you have any questions, just PM me.

                        Howie,
I am frustrated and concerned and nervous hearing your accounts of "seizure" and what the BP med is doing. I cannot tolerate most BP meds and my nephrologist who is managing BP says that my response to most of the meds to date has been what he would classify as "allergic" in nature and potentially life threatening. This is NOT something to manage on your own by tapering doses. You need to let the doc know exactly what is happening.

                        Peg,
We started out the day overcast and in the 30s. It got to 55 and sunny by mid afternoon and I got the Easter bulbs planted for a bit of color in the gardens but it is already back to 40 and forecast to be mid to low 30s by the middle of the night with a rain/snow mix.

                        Rose,
I greatly appreciate you logging in and keeping tabs on us. I know and knew about the risks of Novovirus. We were meticulous with hand washing but I suspect that some of the food service people were not so meticulous. David was sick everywhere and frequently during the first 12 hours and I cleaned all of it up and did not get sick myself for another 2 days. With Novo, the symptoms start within 12 hours of exposure without proper handwashing. I think it was the salads I was trying to make a staple of my diet while on board.

We had another inch and a half of snow late this afternoon. Supposedly more to call overnight....then the temperature is supposed to rapidly warm up to the low to mix fifties....causing flooding because the ground is still frozen! We're not worried about flooding as we're on top.of a hill. But we are really sick of winter!

Had night sweats last night, didn’t feel like a fever though. I tie it to the IVIG yesterday. Stronger today. Love the first several days post IVIG....

Sunshine, I don't know what you mean about "the first several days lost IVIG." I thought you got a boost from it that lasted a few days?

I hope you improve if you are not well.
