I washed two loads of wash, which is easy for me because my washer and dryer are downstairs where I am. I changed the linens on the bed. I dusted (but did not polish furniture) upstairs and down. I finally left the dinning room table and cabinet for tomorrow, but did the chairs. I cleaned the two toilets that I don't use. That has to be done quite often even though they just sit there. My bathroom, I plan to do tomorrow.

The lady who helps me was due, but she did not come. However, she called and said she will be here tomorrow. I will let her mop the two bathrooms downstairs and clean my shower. She will also clean the kitchen counter tops and sink, which already look clean. I will do the two vanities and the toilet in my bath, finish dusting the dinning room and I will do the vacuuming. I would also like to polish the hardwoods in the foyer and hall downstairs, but not sure about that. Laura only stays for two hours so she doesn't have a lot to do. I think I will get her to clean the glass door on the front of my house because she doesn't have nearly enough to last her two hours. Then come next week I will start all over and do it again.

I wish I would get another smart spell and polish the furniture. It's not that bad. It hasn't been that long, but I do like to keep it done.

Agate, you did so much today. Even went for a walk. You really did have a smart spell.

Virginia, that lady is as reliable as Jeanie’s van!

That’s a lot of work you have planned. I could not do it. I’m not much of a cleaner. I “make ready” or put things in their place but do not have energy for cleaning outside of the kitchen. I do have a house cleaner, Luci, who is also a friend. She comes w one or two helpers for most of two hours.

Agate, you have been busy. Chocolate for you! Wheels are essential. I remember scooting around the various nurses stations on wheeled office chairs when I was tired. Counter to chart rack was sometimes, “too far.”

Virginia, since your helper is making herself scarce, why not think of jobs you'd like to have done and ask her to do them while she's there--in the spirit of taking pie while pie is passing? I mean, there she is, and she's being paid to help you.

Agate, I've thought of two for today. So we are thinking along the same lines.

I have PT every week. One 45” session plus some gym time w homework.

Today, I was placed in an AlterG treadmill. (Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...) It uses air pressure to offset a selected amount of your weight. It is supposed to make it easier to walk (or for sports medicine, run).

I’m 150 pounds and they offset 40% of my weight and ran the treadmill fairly slowly. They had warned me that I would love or hate it. I certainly did not love it. I found it very hard and felt heavy instead of light. I felt like I was trudging. After 2 sessions w a rest and water, they got me out of the contraption. Then they had an idea. They tried me on a regular treadmill. I was no good at that either. They decided it was treadmills I can’t do. Any treadmill.

I finished today w a seated elliptical machine. I got a heck of a work out altogether. Already had a bath and am in PJ’s (6:30 PM).

I wear my boxers everyday. The only time I put on clothes is when I go to the store. PJs would suffocate me, at this time of year anyway. In the winter, I still wear my boxers, but add a tee shirt, and fire up my electric heaters.

I stay back in MY room year round, and have a window AC that runs 24/7, but my electric bill is surprisingly low. I also run the TV from the time I get up, until I go to bed. It's a big flat screen, but must also use very little electricity.

I wish I had a fireplace. That would help heat the place, but alas, it's only a wish.

Ann, it may be that most MS people are not suited for this machine. It seems our problems are different. I know that I can not do a treadmill for even 2 minutes. It sounds like you were a trouper and did well.

My lady did come today 10 minutes late, but she talked to me some. She had husband problems back when she first came to work for me. He left her for another woman. They have a daughter and she took him back. He has left her again. He is helping her financially, but she says she knows she has to work. She is going to take her daughter to a psychologist because her daughter says she is confused. My only advise was that to forgive him one time was one thing, but now he has proven that he is not going to change.

I had wanted her husband to power wash and stain my deck. He did it last time and did a good job. He even replaced a couple of boards and looked it over real good. She wants to do it so she can make more money. I told her she could, however I am not real happy about it because I feel that the power washer she uses will not be as powerful, and she doesn't know how to look things over the way he did. I wanted to help her financially as much as I can.

Virginia, you have a good heart.

The Spaulding Rehab PT said that many MS people like the fancy treadmill. You can not fall!

I might not could fall, but the upper half of me would sag down and the lower half of me inside this treadmill would be flailing around!

You must have had to get in and out of your car several times just to do those errands--and if you were driving, you must have had to find a place to park and do all of the parking maneuvering--then do the errands themselves. You're a powerhouse, Sunshine.
