November already! Seems like it was just yesterday when it was spring, and here it is Thanksgiving already.

I think I'm turning in to Howie: I am having real problems sleeping at night. I went to bed at 9 p.m. last night....but didn't fall asleep until 2;30 a.m.! Just lay there wide awake. So I watched a movie on my kindle....then read awhile...then played games...then read some more....and finally drifted off to sleep. Didn't get up until 9 this morning -- 2 hours later than I usually do -- and could nap now (1 p.m.). But I won't do that, hoping that instead I'll sleep tonight. (yawnnnnn)….

Had furnace work done yesterday -- ducts and blowers put in, in the basement, to warm it up. TC has been complaining that it was too cold down there, and that his tools were rusting because it was damp and cool. I'm hoping that maybe now he'll keep his stuff in the basement instead of strewn through the living quarters here upstairs. A pricey way to manage some of his stuff, but it will be worth it if it works1

Going off to an early supper today (4 p.m.) with some friends. The early time was recommended to us because it's a very popular restaurant, and gets swamped with people after 5. We'll see just how crowded it is at 4...and have a back-up plan in place should it be too busy then!

Anyway..that's all the news from here...

Cat, I take an OTC sleep med every night. That's how I can sleep at night. There are many meds to choose from, but what you want is anything with Diphenhydramine. That's the fancy name for Benadryl. A good night's sleep is very important. Try something to help make sure you do sleep.

It’s the oddest day here. It’s 68 and humid. It started out in the 60’s this morning. In October, we had mornings in the low 30’s.

I went to get my hair done today. I took Uber there and walked home. That’s enough work for today.

Among those not seen lately: Parsi.

She hasn't had anything to say in almost a month.

If you're reading here, Parsi, hope you're doing OK.

I went to get nails done today and stopped by WF's and got a hot dinner for tonight and then went to salad bar and picked up some Greek Salad and some grilled peppers for tomorrow night.

Put me and Ann together and you would have 1 good looking woman - with her hair and my nails that would do it.

Howie, where did you zoom to this last time, back to CVS? I agree with Ann, you are always having to go back there for something. Maybe there are some pretty ladies that work there.

So Cat, what did you say you had to eat for dinner? This is a "need to know" for two people on here. I'll let you guess which two.

Virginia, I don't think Catdancer has posted about what she had to eat yet.

                  WF = Whole Foods?

Thank you to all who noticed Agate--she was indeed a lovely cat. She was an unusual kind of tortoiseshell kitty because she looked basically gray--unless you rubbed her fur the wrong way, and then it started looking quite orange. A few orange parts of her are showing on her face but otherwise you had to look for it.

Known as "the cat with an attitude" at her vet's, she could be quite fierce on occasion.

Virginia, I was just kidding , I didn't go anywhere after I went to CVS....AGAIN.

Agate, I had a black cat named Eva that she looked black, but it you rubbed her fur backwards, she was totally white underneath. Every hair was white, then about at the halfway point, turned black.

That's the way Agate was with the orange and gray. It seems to be a genetic thing.

Agate's genetics will remain a mystery because she came from someone giving kittens away outside a supermarket one day.

She was the world's best alarm clock. If I wasn't up at the time she'd decided on for me, and poking me with her paw hadn't worked, she'd start her campaign. She might perch on the dresser and land on the bed with an enormous thud, and if that didn't work, she'd sit on the end table and lean into the lampshade until she tipped over the lamp with a huge crash, broken glass, and considerable drama.

One or the other of these strategies was bound to work, and that food dish would be filled.

Lily Cat wakes me with loud talking. When that doesn’t work or if I ignore it she pokes me in the eye w a soft paw.

Yeah, a cat's paw poking you in the eye should do the trick!

Agate, too bad you didn't have an Rx for Gabapentin. Then you could have done what Ann does and gave her 100mg of Gabapentin. I don't think she does that to Lily, just the two new ones.

It is cool here today and I got up late. I am having a lazy Saturday. I planned it that way. I have just started reading The President is Missing. I probably will go out tomorrow and then Monday I have to get hair cut, colored and blow dried so it will match my nails. So today is pretty much a nothing type day.

All this interest in my eating!! :) I had broiled walleye pike, with "waffle fries" -- in case someone here doesn't know,'re basically French fries, but are flatter, small rounds, and shaped like waffles. And of course cole slaw and rye bread. TC had fried perch and potato salad. One friend had broiled shrimp and a baked potato. The other friend had fried cod, French fries. (All the dinners come automatically with cole slaw and rye bread...)

And for lunch today I made tacos, with ground beef, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, grated cheddar cheese, and sour cream and salsa on top...
