Andy picked five green mangoes to ripen for me. I still have some frozen from last year. I wish I had a blender or gadget that makes slushies. Jeanie :)
A nice guy kept hugging me (20 years my junior), so I. Jokingly said, “What’s with all the hugging?!” You could try that withthe kisser if he does it again. I think its very weird to kiss someone on the forehead as though you are a child —-would make me feel violated.

The DSD disorder is that there are two muscle groups that have to work together to open up the muscle at one end and shut it down at the other end of the bladder. It is to coordinate for peeing, you have to open up the urethra while the bladder is contracting, and then stop contracting when you are done peeing.

We get tons of robo calls, scam callers (as the one with Social Security), and contractors, who claim that I spoke to them last year (which I didn't, but I'm old, so they figure I'm also senile).

For 20 years, we have had the ringer on our phone turned off. We have an answering machine, and all calls go directly to the answering machine. The primary reason we turned off the ringer was because the constant scam calls were disturbing sleep for Jonathan and Michael and Jim, who worked the night shift caring for them and slept in the day.

The only time the ringer is turned on is when we're expecting an important call, or one of us is out of the house. It's nerve wracking, when scam calls come through during those times.

I highly recommend having all of your calls go to voice mail. The Do Not Call list is useless. Reporting these calls is useless. Remember, a big election year is on the way, and you're going to be getting A LOT more calls you don't want.

If someone wants to talk to you enough, they will leave a message, and you can call them back. I check our phone messages numerous times a day, with my hand poised over the delete button. It works for us.

I'm glad that you'll be receiving PT for another month. You're making terrific progress. I hope that all goes well with weaning off of the catheter. I'm so glad that Cherie mentioned clamping.

Perhaps your wound care nurse was showing admiration or caring for you, without realizing that it might be inappropriate. I used to kiss my mom, grandmothers and aunts on their foreheads. If it makes you uncomfortable, then you should tell him so.

        Sunshine ~

Thank you for explaining DSD. It makes sense. I do hope you can avoid catheterization.

Our nurse cancelled yesterday, because she's recovering from a cold/cough and is on antibiotics, so I didn't have the opportunity to discuss home IVIg with her. However, she will be here Friday, and we'll all be masked and gowned. I will ask her then.

Sending healing prayers every day for all of you ~

        Love & Light,

Thanks Sunshine on the DSD disorder. Now, I think I understand - good explanation.

Received a call from my former husband. This was my 2nd husband with whom I have remained close friends. Like me, he never remarried. He went with a lady in Wilmington, NC where he now lives, but did not marry her.

Anyway, he now has Hospice coming to his house, which I think we all know what that means. He is 6'2" tall and weighs 119 pounds. This is looking real bad and he knows it. He told me that I was on the list to be called so that I would not have to hear about it in some other way.

in spite of the fact that we divorced and the 3 1/2 year marriage was extremely stressful, I have always held him in high regard as far as his character is concerned. He has me as well. This is quite a blow. I knew he was not well, but I was not expecting this. I am very sad.

I'm so very sorry. This news must be so painful and difficult for you. How kind and thoughtful of him to reach out to you to prepare you and to include you on the list of those close to him to be called. You are both in my prayers. May you find peace and comfort.

I think I can understand. My former husband and I stayed friends after being married 13 years. Eventually he had a new woman in his life, but they never married. For the last 25 years of his life she was his constant companion but she lived a couple of blocks away from him. She lived by herself with a cat and he was by himself, also with a cat.

She and I have become friends though we've never met in person. When his health started to fail, about 10 years ago, she was in constant contact with me and DS by e-mail about his condition. Sometimes he came to visit our son and I usually saw him once during that time.

But a couple of years ago the dreaded call came, telling me he'd died. I knew he had a couple of severe conditions but thought he was fairly stable. News of his death was a shock. It was probably a heart attack. He had been in an assisted living place for his last year or so, and that was sad too--knowing that he needed quite a bit of help.

His current partner and my son were hit much harder by this than I was but it has been a sad adjustment, after knowing this person fairly well since I was 17.

--The cat was transported from the midwest to Oregon to my son's place and is doing fine, though.

I'm so sorry you've had this sad turn of events, Virginia. It's painful to watch someone failing and knowing you can't do anything to stop it.

Virginia, I am sorry your former husband is so ill. Peter and I are thinking of you.

Jeanie, bravo! You are doing well and I know it’s hard work. Bless you!

Thank you Rose and Agate. Doug and I had, through the years always remained able to talk. There were times when we would talk for over an hour on the phone and just enjoy it so much. I do not know what happened to the lady he was seeing after me, nor does he know what happened between me and the man I saw for so many years after him. We have never discussed it, but we had talked throughout the time we were seeing these people. In spite of everything else we were able to remain friends. On that basis at least we just genuinely liked each other. There was never anything romantic between us after we separated, but we just made better friends than we did husband and wife. When I met him I was widowed after many years and his wife of many years had died a year before my husband. I guess at the time we just thought it made sense.

I moved in the town house that I am in two months after our divorce. He came from Wilmington and rented a truck and moved a lot of boxes that I had packed. After I was living here he came back to Raleigh and put lattice work around my deck. He had been an executive in his career, but enjoyed working with his hands.

One thing that happened between us was that he was a strong Republican and that really was hard to take at times. He supported the Republican Party with money and with his help.

Even today when he called he was referring to how bad off our Country was. He said he loved his country, but never thought he would see it go down hill so fast. I knew he would not have an appreciation for DT, though we had stayed away from talking about it. However, he let me know today that he did not, but then he just had to add and I am paraphrasing "and that crowd they've got now at the Democratic debates just wants to give away everything, free health care, free college". I think that is what happened to us. Some people can differ on politics and get along fine in their marriages. He was just very harsh and outspoken about his. All his friends just laughed, but I could not.

We didn't see the differences so much before we married because he was living in Charlotte, NC. Mutual friends who lived in my community had me come to dinner when he came to see them and he started coming to Raleigh to take me to dinner after that. So, I guess we just didn't get to really know each other well enough even though we dated for almost 3 years before we married.

Well, in my computer crash the other day, I lost Facebook. I've tried multiple times, and can't get back to what it was for me. So that's over for me. I did like reading, and especially the cat posts. I will miss that, but what's gone is gone.

I'm making my last store run in the morning. Sam....is down to 1 slice of turkey. I hope she doesn't figure out how close she came to having none. Wednesday is payday!!! This was a tight month, but all the weird bills have been paid, ones like property tax.

                      Everyone have a relaxing evening.

Howie, I don't understand how you could lose Facebook. It's strictly on the Internet, and if you're on the Internet, Facebook should be there for you. If you have a problem logging into it, they will arrange to send you the password or let you reset it. Sorry you had to cope with a computer crash. Those are really unsettling.

                        To put it mildly.

I have all my passwords written down, which I needed on some sites. Facebook being one that didn't accept the password. I'm still going to keep trying, but not today. I'm going to bed. G'night!

Howie, in the future you could try a password manager like LastPass or Dashlane. I find it very useful.
