So, for this one, I lay on my back knees bent and feet on the bed and pushed down on the offending angle. It settled into the position it was supposed to do and didn’t spasm back out. If it had. I would’ve taken Valium or Ativan for sure. My spasms all happen asleep, because during the day I can accommodate my body so I don’t trigger it as readily.

My sleep is a mess: Go to bed by 8 zonked out by meds, awaken 3x for med dosing...I feel tired but not sleepy. But the meds make me feel tired. So, its hard to know what’s what.
Sorry you have so much pain. Interesting to me to read you have them mostly at night. My spasms have gotten worse over the last couple of years and they come at night too. So your explanation was interesting. I can move around during the day even when I have had an excruciating night.

      Yes, nice example:
Today, I used a combo of mostly in wheelchair, and using rollator for brief excursions away from it to cook supper stuff. I mean brief.
On one, by the 30 second mark, my shin started to feel like it could spasm. Wheelchair was feet away, so I quickly got on it and then lay on couch to rest 30 minutes. That prevented a spasm.

But, if it comes in your sleep, you might’ve triggered it by a certain leg movement, or at least, once it starts, you cannot get out of the loop.

There may also be biological reasons that it triggers in night time sleep as well. That is very likely.

The shin spasms are the worst and you cannot stretch your way out of them.

My leg spasms at night are indeed probably triggered by stretching out my body while sleeping. They wake me up and usually can be stopped if I get out of bed and stand.

The chest spasms are a thing unto themselves. They are the most painful but do react well to Valium.

The spasms of my esophagus are bad but shorter in length although the chest one and the esophagus ones cluster. I will have one type for a couple of weeks and then that one stops and another type shows up for a few weeks. And so on...a merry go round pattern.

Have you had your GAD65 level drawn , its a blood test. Sounds like me and mine are due to SPS, not to my MS...
ITs so rare, most docs have never heard of it. My neuro was alert and said the spasms sounded too intense for the usual MS...

Very tired tonight. I went to cleaners, then to UPS, then to Walgreens and then to K-Mart to pick up prescriptions. After that I kept a Doctor's appointment. I told her about my forehead still itching and showed her one raised spot that had only been a small mole and one fairly small raised spot that had not even been there. She told me to tell all my friends to get the Shingrex vaccine. I told her that I preach it all the time.

She also ordered some blood work done, a urine sample and is sending me to get an echo cardiogram. She recommended that I see a Dermatologist about the raised spots on my forehead. They might can be taken off, but I think I will wait until the itching stops. She says it can last and last like mine has.

So that is why I am tired.

I hope you rested well...life’s trials sometimes seem to pile up!
