Hi! It seems really quiet on the forum. It's really windy and raining outside. Definitely a night to stay inside near a fire. I hope everyone is doing okay and not experiencing too much pain. As for me, my left arm is definitely not doing well. Each day seems to bring new nerve symptoms and reminds me more and more of what I went through with the right arm before I opted for surgery in 2004. Kids are doing good - no new colds!! Can't believe Thanksgiving is next week.

Carol - I haven't had spine surgery but I did have surgery to relieve nerve compression. I seem to remember that weeks 3 and 4 were worse than week 1 and 2 and it was due to the nerves. Hopefully, someone who's had spine surgery will come along soon and answer your question in better detail. I need spine surgery but postponing that surgery as long as possible.

Carol, The burning is usually a sign of healing so unless you are having other issues I wouldn't worry about it. Believe me when I say it took a long time before I was ready to do any remodeling work after my surgeries.

newcervie, I slept all day yesterday catching up on sleep so that is my reason for missing. It is cooler here but it isn't too bad around here.

Sleep finally came yesterday letting me catch up with what I had been missing. The remodeling is coming along slowly but it is coming and the room is looking very good. Not much new going on here. My son says he is leaning towards going in the military which is our family tradition. I want he to go to college but understand the reasons why he would rather be in the military.

Well, copying this one for sure as it came up w/errors, parts missing, 2nd time same thing has happened. Think this puter has seen its days, 7=8 yrs old, everything comes up w/errors. Even McAfee has started picking things up and fixing them. Thank God SO has the laptop for his work on weekends.

Sorry the pain game is playing with all of you, I'm playing too. Slept all day yesterday. Today's weather is blah, getting darker, and it's only 2:40 central time. Time to turn on the lights around me.

Darn daughter sent me a pick of themselves from the cruise they were just on. Oh how could they be so mean to their dear mom!!! Glad they have the $$ to do it, at right age too. Last April other daughter/family taking kids to FL Disneyland/world, whatever. But Steve got cancer, doing very well; do hope they're able to go this year or next. Little Sam is only 2, if they wait a few more years, he'll enjoy it so much more, perhaps recall more too altho mom's a great picture taker, album filler. We've never been on a BIG trip, never will now, too many aches/pains. Always wanted to take an Alaskan cruise or where the train runs east coast of Canada. Take that back, we've been to PA, NC, ND for short jaunts. and all fun.

SO's home so time to go, hoping you all have a wonderful, less pain filled weekend. Good job with your work, Mark. hugs to all, kat

Kat, you may call it the pain game but I am not having any fun with it. It sounds as if your family is doing well and it is nice to hear they are able to do it. Megan and Darrin are planning on taking Emery to Disney World in a few years when she is older. I wish I could go and watch her because I bet she will have a blast but like you gramps will be left behind.

I finally got to sleep late last night and slept until the afternoon but I was able to do a few chores. I got the storm window frame back in along with getting the ladder put away along with the paint tarp. This evening I worked on elevating the bed so it matches the head board level. Then I started on a couple of the styles for the raised paneled walls. Now I am trying to sleep but it isn't looking very likely right now.

I see the room is quiet this weekend so I hope it means everyone is busy and not having too many pain issues. It was a quiet day for me today as I did just a little bit of work on the moulding but most of the day was taking it easy and resting or napping. I am not looking forward to this week as I have a 12 hour round trip this week. One thing will be nice though, if my body lets me, I will meet up with one of my coaching friends and a young man that played QB on my STATE CHAMPIONSHIP Team. He had been more my son that player for a number of years until I lost connection with him. He called me yesterday for the first time in 3 yearsand we set up getting together with my coaching buddy as he helped coach that team. The good thing is it will give Penny time with her family as I am ignored anyway when there. I am not much of a small talker and that is all they do as they can't handle any differences of opinion.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanskgiving and feel blessed for what you do have.

Mark, glad to hear your getting some rest from working in your downstairs. Plus you'll need it for your trip. So great a former player called you out of nowhere and included you with his visit with the coach. Better than being surrounded by 'hens' if that be the case. Enjoy your time, and a very HAPPY THANKSGIVING to you and yours.

              HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO EVERYONE!!!!!! kat

lisa d, hi it is good to see you on the site again. I hope you stop in the room and let us know how you are doing from time to time.

Kat, I really got some rest yesterday as I took the day off and dozed all day long. I thought it would be better to sleep yesterday than on Wed when we drive up North to visit Penny's family.

We will be leaving tomorrow and be back on Sunday. We will be staying at a hotel which makes it much nicer for me than staying in one of the homes. It lets me get away from it all and sleep without messing up anyone's plans. We have been getting a lot of rain then past three days as it is raining once again this morning. Thankfully it is supposed to pass by before we drive up North. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL.

Our hotel has wireless internet so I thought I would check in. We have had a good trip so far although I found out I can't drive more than about 30minutes so my wife had to do the majority of the driving. I drove the busy by-pass around Indy as she really stressed out over traffic. Penny has especially had a good time. I did get to visit a friend that had been a former coach with me and one of my favorite former players. I had lost contact with the player for three years and he called two days before we left on the trip. It worked out great as we could take him out to dinner and have some time catching upwith him. Penny has been stressed out but has been willing to let me know and talk about it which has really helped. It will be good to get back home tomorrow. We did buy the final amount of tile to finish the basement project so the bedroom will be done soon.

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and I know Kat is especially happy since the Packers are still undefeated after beating the Lions.

Mark, so glad you having a wonderful time with your trip/visit......esp that visit with old friends. Always nice to play catch-up. The two of us had a great turkey day. Put 4 big legs in slo-cooker about 10-11 a.m.; they fell of bone come time to eat, tenderest ones I've eaten, along with usual sides. I told SO he was going to have to help me as my body was 'off', brain wasn't thinking straight, so he was a big help to me, but that darn cane does get in way or lost. Need a whistle for it, I blow, it has gadget on it, it beeps back :) Hope all had great day.......GO PACKERS and keep on going!! hugs, kat

Kat, it sounds like despite your on going issues with your body and mind you had a good Thanksgiving Day. It is good to hear SO was willing and able to help you a lot. I think your Packers are going to keep going as I don't see a team until the Super Bowl that could beat them.

We got back this evening and it is nice to be back home. Penny had to do all the driving this time as I was sleeping the whole way. She wasn't in very good shape when we finally got back but she is doing better now that she could relax. We had breakfast with my coach friend and his wife [she is Chinese] at Bob Evans before leaving. His wife really wanted to see us especially Penny so it was nice to visit. I can't tell you much about the trip today except we got back before the rain storm hit which was the plan.

SO's doing work from work, not great having to bring it home every weekend, but nice money; even better if taxes didn't come off :). Don't remember much of yesterday. Seizures runnig amuck lately; two so far since I got up at 11. Body was so painful too, still is. Wanted to go back to sleep today badly but thought I can't keep doing this, altho must be a reason or part of my condition.

AGlad your coming home Mark and Penny, make it safe journey. Glad you enjoyed yourselves!!!! :) hugs to all kat

Kat, sorry to hear about your seizures today. I know it makes life hard for you and you are right about sleeping; there is a reason your body needs it.

I slept all day catching up from the trip. I hope to get a bit of sleep today and have a good day today. Not much going on since I wasn't awake to know what is going on. I know my wife missed me doing some of the tiling and she is hoping I can do it today. It would get all the flooring done and being able to focus on the walls to finish them up.

Feel all is different about me suddenly, body rebelling as it well at this 'stage'. I never go w/o my cane, using walls, furniture as guide doesn't work anymore. Legs just give out, usually right but left catching up. Love to lay on floor, play w/kitty. But she peters out as fast as I do with her medical problems. Trying to get up is a whole new hard thing to do so have to change tactics. She loves to lay on her back, when I'm propped properly, put my slippered foot on her belly, shake here all around, works very well on wood dining floor, then slide her away, promptly comes back for more, assumes 'the position' on her back :)

I'm scared of this going down hill process, came on quickly, not going away, don't expect it to. Things only keep getting worse with this disease, duh<G> Still have spasms in throat when swallowing, esp meds, but food works well too :) Lots trouble talking; 1/2 time SO can't understand me. Mush mouth. One good thing from all this, SO communicating more about my condition. Believe he's been online at work re: VaD as he knows too much, what to expect. That's a good thing:) Finally have some support right here under our own roof.
Mark you'll have your work done in no time....thought your timeline was xmas? At pace you're going you'll do it! KUDOS
                              Take care all, hugs/love, kat

Kat, I understand your concern about your condition. It is hard to know what is happening but not being able to stop it as I face some of the same issues just not as fast as you have to deal with it. Fortunately mine doesn't impact my thinking or brain too much although there are some effects from the past surgeries. It is good to hear that SO is doing more to understand and to give you support at home. You also have a plaything to keep you entertained IE kitty.

We put the Christmas Tree up and got the lights on it. It is an artificial tree that looks very real and we use pine scent to make the room smell like we have a Christmas Tree in the house. Penny hasn't put on the decorations yet as she is trying to decide what style she wants to go with this year. Kat it may seem like I am moving quickly on the room but I will be lucky to finish it by Christmas. I am happy with the progress though and I will need to get back into the routine again now that we are home and have no trips coming up. It has been a cold rainy day here today all day. I have a beef stew cooking right now and hope to have it ready in another hour.
