:) I have a nice leather bound book a classmate of mine gave me when David died. It is called "Jesus Calling" and has daily uplifting topics. I read it every morning. The author is Sarah Young. But an extra uplifting sentence would be welcome. Jeanie :)

I'll have to pass on the daily word of inspiration, but I was in a sharing mood today. I don't remember making that many serious statements in one day. I'm usually just silly, but if I've ever made someone smile, that's all I want.

For daily smiles, and words of wisdom, I recommend watching SpongeBob each day!

Still, I wonder if it would be nice to have an "inspirational thought" thread, where anyone could add a sentence of their own, inspirational, funny, insightful, thought-provoking, etc., or just share one from someone else perhaps that touched them and they wanted to pass on? I'll bet Jeanie could pull a couple from her lovely book to share, and renee could add her very sharp and short one-liners that always make me think. We have a plethora of thoughts running around in the minds of this group. It might be nice to have a separate thread we could go to if we needed a pick-me-up.

So, now that im sorta on the mend I find out about tom cat: he has a hernia, microcystic anemia, maybe the beginnings of copd, some digestive issues (boughts of diarrhea and gerd) and possible heart issues. He has been hiding the hernia from me for the last 6 months, all that time lifting and moving me around.

So he goes for a physical, is gone for several hours. I thought he stopped to shop. Instead he wasgetting blood draws, exrays, appointments for a colonoscopy, an endoscopy, a stress test, a hernia operation and who-knows-what else. He is 73. At this point hard to tell who has the worst health, him or me. Having a good time here...not.

Feels crummy when your hubby suffers silently while taking care of us. It is tough all around....not an easy time for you two. Let's raise our hopes for a better time coming.

Where do men get the idea that they absolutely have to be heroes? I'm so sorry this is happening--sorry he's not well and sorry he felt he had to conceal it.

Let's hope there will be ways of helping him to feel better. And without a lot of miserable tests.

Cat.. this is just what men do, , they have to be the stronger sex, and don't think it matters to us, but it does,, you and I know TC can be a caring guy,, I like him,,its just they put their health on the back burner,,men,, hard to skin, and their hides ain't worth much,,lol

Cat, I'm so sorry about TC's challenges. In spite of your quote, I think it might be okay to pray for what you want AND need! Since men are best when they have a gameplan and directions, I hope once everything is identified, it will be a matter of putting a plan into action which is what men are so good at, "fixing" stuff.

I know you will be as much of a support to him as he's been to you; in fact, I daresay you are probably at your finest when you are helping someone else out when they could use a helping hand. You have a plethora (yes, I'm now going to use that word as much as possible ) of inner strength and resources that I'm sure will be of great help to TC. I hope he is on the mend very, very soon.

Cat, it is a male thing. My dad was the same way! I think it's a love thing. He just doesn't want you to worry because he loves you. Keep us informed!

Went to State Fair

:) Hi everyone. Cat I added TC to my prayers. Keep us posted on how he is doing, but don't stop giving us your update too.

I went to the South Florida Fair with my son Andy and his wife Jamie. Jamie has so much damage from all the radiation and chemo she had that she can't walk more than a few steps. She is down to almost 90 lbs too and pale. We took my small house scooter along with my van one and she rode the small one around the fair. She was excited to get to go as she had not been to the fair in years.

We ate gyros, corn dogs, boiled peanurs and candy apples. The food was outrageously expensive. $10 for a sandwich, $5 for peanuts, $3 for apples. It was slightly chilly but we were inside the pavilions most of the time. We saw the ice show and it was nice. Now I am taking Tums for all that stomach damage.

I hope I remember how my stomach feeels next time I go so I don't repeat this. Jeanie :)

Was it "chilly", at, what? 75 degrees there in "frigid" Florida?

I too love bad-for-you fair-food, but it does take a while to digest. Take care of your tummy!

So now its worse. They found a "nodule" on tc's lung. Hes going for an ultrasound, a ct scan, a stress test, and a consult with a hernia surgeon all next week, and then when the test results come back, more doctor visits. We are not happy.
