OT August Chit Chat

:) Virginia I had only heard of Talbot's. David bought me a blouse there. My Mother used to buy a lot of clothes from Blair.

I have five pair of Danskin black pants and I alternate 3 or 4 blouses with them. I have some nice ribbon bows I can wear over my ponytail. I mostly wear red, black and white. I have a lot of clothes I do not use at all but sorting them out and donating them is too much effort right now.

I slept until 4 PM today. I am lucky I have nowhere I have to be and I can rest. I have really been enjoying the Olympics. I found it sad that Locke got drunk and exaggerated his story. He cost himself a lot of endorsements and embarrassment. If they had not been drinking it would not have happened.

As of tonight the USA has 116 medals, 43 gold, 37 silver and 36 bronze. I hope they will broadcast the paraolympics too. Watching divers do a handstand on the edge of a platform 3 stories high and then go into a dive amazes me. I could not even stand near the edge or I'd fall off.

The gymnasts did great and it was the Carolys last year coaching so I was happy about that. Still hot out. Jeanie :)

I've seen it suggested that Lochte is a narcissist who feels the rules don't apply to him. He's so convinced the rules shouldn't be applied to someone as great as he is that he just does what he wants.

Ego would be a big problem with Olympic athletes sometimes, I think, what with the Olympics being so huge.

People didn't pay nearly as much attention to the Olympics years ago as they do now, and they didn't get nearly as much media attention. It must be very difficult not to have an ego problem if you're one of the athletes.

--For once the weather forecast was right! For days I've been watching that forecast, which said we'd have about 3 days of 98', and then it would cool off today. That's exactly what happened!

Today I woke up to cool breezes out there. No more of the hot sultry still feeling that you get when the heat has been around much too long.

This is such good news that I'm almost dancing around here.

I think ya'll are exactly right about big athletes having big egos.

Our weather is due to cool off tomorrow Agate and stay down in the 80s for at least 3 to 4 days. I hope it last longer than that. It has been in the 90s here, although it has been lower 90s for past couple of days. August is almost gone and then we only face September as far as hot weather. That is a month that is iffy around here. I have seen it cool off by mid September and then there have been years when September was one of our hottest months. Just hope that is not true this year.

Here I am a straight guy, played sports, yet I'm not watching the Olympics, or ever watch sports of any kind. Yet you ladies are into it. Was it that drop on my head as a baby?

I'm not watching the Olympics, just FYI. And it's not just straight people who are interested in sports. Or guys.

I'm sure there are others here who would own up to not watching the Olympics too.

I used to watch the Olympics when there were more amateur athletes. As soon as the professional sports teams started playing, I lost a lot of interest. Coupled with the cheating and doping scandals, I just lost interest. I probably watched an hour, total, of these last 15 days, just snippets here and there,,usually tied to some news story about a larger issue.
