I thought that was a pretty good photo of me and the cats. They kept wanting to get back in the saucer. Sam likes to drive. Seven and I just hang on!

I had the same feeling as SuzeQ regarding Renee's absence, but did not want to sound pessimistic so I did not voice it. She still may be doing a little traveling, a little working and a little visiting with her sister and it might have just kept her busy. She does also have her garden plot of land that she usually works in the summer months. I think she enjoys that enormously and when she is available she spends a lot of time there.

Agate, Howie's avatar looks just like him. Why, I would have recognized him anywhere. He has his ponytail pulled up in the back and he shaved the cats.

Pulling my hair back in a ponytail was easy, but shaving the cats.....well, I'm healing up just fine.

They don't have self-driving saucers yet? Is that why Sam gets to drive?

Here's a question for those who have some technical know-how.

This new computer has a little eye on the top of the screen. My son and DIL tell me I might want to tape over it or put a piece of paper up there to block it because it's a camera. They went on about hackers or something. I didn't understand what the danger is but I dutifully taped a bit of paper over it. Now it looks like a monitor with a bandaid but at least I can feel safer.

From what? Who is going to be in here taking pictures of what?

Along with all of you, I'm hoping that Renee is traveling, visiting, gardening, and enjoying herself. Her absence here is a reminder that everyone should connect privately with at least one member on the forum, and make sure that your loved one(s) know that you post here regularly, should something occur to prevent you from posting. Your loved one can contact your connection (or "forum buddy"), who can post on your behalf, or your loved one can post for you.

I often think of Gabriella and Abby and wish that someone in their circle would post here with their news, if they are unable to post.

Howie ~ that's quite the selfie of you and Sam and Seven! I always knew that Pinkie is a spaceship. I've watched all 3 Men in Black movies a hundred plus times with Jon. You can't fool me!

Yeah, but I fooled the rest of them!

Agate, I have my camera lens on this laptop covered with black electrical tape. The camera is for if you have the phone setup where you can see the person you are talking to, and they can see you.

It would be fine for talking to family members, and seeing them as you talk. But hackers could do bad things with your image. They can make you appear to be doing anything, and I can't explain further without being too graphic.

Mine is covered, and I took some time to make it blend in with the frame and be almost invisible. Covering your camera is a smart thing to do these days.

We have a Mac, and we covered our camera with two post it notes immediately upon hooking up the computer a few years ago. At that time, our friends, who were helping us set up our computer told us not to worry about it.

Now, hacking is a major issue ~ notice that it's going on in the political arena extensively. Unfortunately, the world is full of people with bad intentions, and they all have computers. So, I agree with Howie that it's best to keep that camera covered.

I just leave the post it notes sticking up, because no one sees the computer but us. And I'm not Martha Stewart. I vote by mail, so I put my "I VOTED" stickers on the post it notes to further obscure the camera. I like irony.

IF you turn the camera on, IF you go to one of those sites, like Skype, or zoom, which enables you to turn on the cam so others can see you, then it is possible that someone could hack your system and steal your picture. But if you DONT turn on your camera or visit those sites...it's just a camera. Which you can use it yourself as a camera, take pictures, and easily post them on the web. Don't let paranoia diminish your enjoyment of technology! And no, that red light that comes on when some tv's are off isn't a camera spying on you, either.

I didn't think of that. I have 2 TVs in this bedroom, and one has a red light that's on, when the TV is off. "They" are spying on me and the cats! Sam, bring cat daddy a hammer, and hurry!!!

Cat, what's sad is Hackers can do pretty much what they want with a computer. What's sadder is they could be hired by companies like Microsoft, and make a good living coming up with ways to prevent what they used to do. They are really smart, and know computers inside and out.

I'm just an old fuddy duddy that wishes people would strive to do good, and be the best kind of human being they can.

Well, it's time for me to go beat the cats.

I hate to be a mostie postie, but this is serious for me. Seven is acting strange. I offered her turkey, her favorite treat, and she just stayed on the bed. She has been in the same spot for hours.

And I didn't sleep last night. I hope she's just tired from staying up with me most of the night. She is 16 now, and I know her behavior like a book, and this is a first. I know cats can't live forever, but I really hope that's not the problem.
