These are not Henry & Hazel that were given away just as we arrived. Sad that.

This pair are months old black kittens, Giselle and Andrew. We hope to change the names.
Apparently it is hard to get people to adopt black cats and even the stunning tuxedo cats. We will miss tiger stripes but will love this pair. One more day. They have been on doxycycline so we had to wait.

People are superstitious about black cats, but it depends on what superstitions you want to believe.

Having a black cat in charge of your household is probably very good luck. Two black cats--probably even better luck.

No, Sam is going to be my last cat. But thank you for the offer.

My black cat, Tuffy, is a dear, sweet cat. He's very large -- long legged, long body, weighed 18 pounds at his peak (now at 15 he's down to around 11 pounds). He's very gentle, laid back, deferential to his "siblings". I love black cats...

A strong case could be made for Howie's Sam needing another cat companion. Maybe she misses Seven. She might welcome an accomplice.

Lily definitely misses Kofi. She sleeps on my shoulder or head w her check smashed against mine. I hope she adopts the kitten kids.

Today I took a bath :-), had my hair done, visited a "boutique concept" Target and cooked supper. I am tired.

I am worried about Virginia. Speak up if you are able.

For a month after Seven died, Sam would jump up on the bed, but would stare at the door to see if she saw Seven which was always the signal for her to get down. But now she knows Seven is gone, and stays on my lap all day. She knows she is now the Alpha Kitty.

Yes, Virginia, you must be getting very bad weather where you are, and it's been a while since you've said anything. Hope you're OK!

The kittens are here! We have had some surprises. Giselle and Andrew are not litter mates. One is 4 months and the other 4.4 months. They both came from Florida but in different "shipments."

In the sun, Giselle has swirls of grey in her short black coat. And Andrew, who was always hiding on us, has a lot of white on him making him a tuxedo cat!

Giselle in a love bunny but Andrew needs to feel safe and is hiding in the "kitten room."

                        Oh, happy day!

                          This is so exciting!

It's amazing how long a cat can stay in hiding and still be fine. A couple of cats I've had spent their first weeks totally hidden away. One under the bed, one behind the books on the bottom shelf of a bookcase. I figured out finally that they were coming out when nobody was looking in order to grab a bite to eat, drink some water, use the litterbox.

Very gradually they started appearing more and eventually stopped hiding entirely except if very unsettled by something.

That's his safety zone....for now. But he will learn the real safety zone is near you Ann. He doesn't feel like he's home now, but he soon will.
