Keep on Moving Club: July 2018

This month I am 7 hours early with Keep on Moving, since I will be getting ready to go early tomorrow morning.

MS creates some real challenges to keep on moving. It helps to inspire each other on how to find ways to move.

Did you stretch in your bed, swing your arms, roll side to side today? Or perhaps you did housework? Or exercised in a pool? Tracked your count of steps? Chased your cat around the home? Pushed the wheelchair wheels with your arms at the store? Post them here and we can support and egg each other on.

Well, I went surfing sat and Sunday:)
I was so sad on Saturday because I couldn’t find a ride. It’s hard being so dependent. At the last moment though a friend volunteered. Was sad because I knew the waves would be perfect.

And they were. Glassy thigh high refreshing turquoise waves! And all the locals showed up. ‘Twas very fun indeed!

Then I was offered a generous ride again the next day and the waves were perfect again, contrasted with the forecast of flat....wrong!

I got rides both days on the waves and on the road trip :)

It’s just so glorious to be there. I don’t forget my problems, since the legs are constantly talking and threatening to spasm, and my surfing looks like a beginne now. But, there is also the experiential joy of being in the ocean that lives beside the pain.

I think I am still fighting the disease, still wishing I could be able to drive there, walk down the boardwalk, not need help. I am guessing that is what most of us deal with 24/7.

Today I cut my swim short to 15 minutes, 1/4 mile, so I could run two errands without seizing up.

Step count according to the pedometer for June averages 1,212 steps/day. One of the lower readings. May was 1,258. I have no excuse except that I was pretty busy doing sedentary things that had to be done this month.

I have been keeping up with my PT exercises though and paying close attention to getting the form right. The PT stressed that.

And the steps are still impressive :)

I think the steps are great.

I was up to my usual - just cleaning along with my lady (who did come back this afternoon). I did bathroom vanities, toilets, washed two loads, put clean sheets on bed and dusted everything. She cleaned my shower, steam cleaned my two bathroom floors downstairs, cleaned the kitchen counter tops and the outside of my glass front door. Tomorrow I only have to vacuum. Then I am pretty much through for the week.

You got more done for yourself than I did Sunshine. But I am very tired today. I did stay up later last night than I should have. That would be part of it I am sure.

We can not compare ourselves to each other. We each have different extent of impairment. Like, you can walk distances, and I can’t!

                      I swam 20mimutes today, 606 yards
