The second thing is that they are hot. I am cold natured, but they are hot and I don't know how I am going to wear them this summer even if I just do it in the house. I paid $90.00 for one pair of knee-his. Is that about right?
      Virginia,
They sell a sleeve that you can use to put them on more easily. Saves the tugging and stretching and nail breaking. Here is a search link that shows several different types. Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...

Thanks so much Cherie. I knew there had to be a better way. Also, I see prices that appear to be much less than mine. When I was first measured they told me they would be $48.99 per pair. When they came in and I went to get them the lady told me they were $90.00 per pair. The lady who measured me was new and quoting me just one stocking.

I am going to try and order a pair on line and also the sleeve to put them on.

Virginia, just did a Google search, they have zippered, open toed ones, that might solve the heat problem, too.

The reviews were pretty good and they seem to run somewhere around $20 or so.

I personally don't like the open toed ones. They cannot comfortably be worn with shoes and were made solely for the purpose of being able to turn back the toe for the nurses to check circulation in the foot. They are not made for folks who are ambulatory to wear on a daily basis. So...if you are walking regularly, they are NOT for you. They are for folks who are bed bound or wheel chair bound and not walking. My heavy compression stockings are $35/pair at our local surgical supply. I wear a light compression knee high that I get from Bass for 10-13 dollars a pair for every day use in cool weather and the heavy compression at night when I have a lot of edema. I would not use the zippered ones if you have skin that is prone to tears or breaks or you are diabetic as there is too much potential for skin breakdown. The sleeve that helps get them on is a far safer option.

Cherie, the ones I have are closed toes and that is what I had planned to stick with. I don't like the open toes in regular hose, so I figured I had better stay with these. My toes and feet are the coldest part of me, so if I have to turn the a/c a little lower in order to wear these then my toes would freeze if they were opened. I had to go be measured for the first pair, but now if I can get them cheaper I will do that naturally.

              Thanks Suze-Q and Cherie.

Such helpful comments about compression hose!
I assume they would also be helpful to those who are flying long flights, seated for hours?

                  Ouch!
John and I went to the first farmers’ markets yesterday and the temp stayed between 46 and 48°. Brisk wind with gusts up to 30mph. As I was leaving the house I looked at my trailer and thought.. no way am I going to be setting up tables and putting out signs so I unhitched it from my car which had all the plants/foods to sell and off I went. Whew! What a day.

Linda, certainly a big day for you and hubby. Hope you didn't go back today, but rested a little instead.

Went out to eat with family this evening. There were six of us. One of my nephews joined us and I asked him to come home with me and change my water filter in my refrigerator. He readily agreed. I had not had a new one put in since last July. I like to do it every six months and I had had this one waiting for quite awhile. My water filter is on the bottom of my refrigerator, but the problem is that for some reason it takes a lot of strength to get it out and the new one in, so I have to catch people as I can.

Keep thinking Nuthatch might check in and weigh in on the compression hose, since she has had to wear them for so long.

Mom is on her own. She did not want Heidi to come as she said she didn’t need help. She is just doing the minimum. I’ll be interested to hear what the nurse thinks tomorrow.

I really messed up my computer today. The touch pad didn't work, and the right side button was the only one that worked, and I accidently deleted my settings app. But I finally got everything beck to normal.

How did everything get messed up? It's like they say, "Idle hands are the devils workshop".

Howie, I think you answered your own question with the "idle hands" remark. Better stop doing that or we will be missing you again and having to get all the hens out.

Ann, I hope your Mom does fine on her own. We would love to hear what the Nurse thinks.

The way I heard that (and I heard it often) was "The devil finds work for idle hands." Same idea. Howie, you might need a job, like feeding the chickens or something. Or cleaning up the henhouse.

                                Well, Virginia did mention hens.
