Swam every day this week.
Today I swam 31 minutes, 1/2 mile. Rested an hour: and THEN, for the first time in two years, with DH there to rescue me, I walked down the @200 step path on pine needle covered pathway in the woods to see and to drink in the beauty of Woods.
I brought a very light weight disability stool with me, so I could sit down immediately if necessary. It came in handy.

Today I employed my best strategy to swim in the public pool. Timed it with my medication dosing ....Lots of steps in open area are scary but doable. Pool was a warm 81 and I swam 1/2 mile 31 minutes. A muscle stiffening slowed down about two minutes. Then the walking, sitting wet In a freezing cold locker room with lukewarm showers on a pathetic chair.
But it happened! And, I was able to drive easily. .... round two tomorrow.

Today I swam again in the public pool. 30 minutes, half mile. Then the walking and cold locker room. There was a pool exercise class going next to my lane. A microphone and loud high tempo music. These are not good for Stiff Person Syndrome. I could feel my legs stiffen. But they didn’t spasm.
They put grab bars up in the closest stall.( The stall is too small for one in a wheelchair, but they have a wheelchair stall @30 steps down. ) but they didn’t put a handicap placard on the door of the closest stall, just grab bars. They’ve had a year.
So, someone had commandeered it and was changing in there... not to be mean, just out of ignorance. ...so, sunshine had to use the stall, and finally asked if they were almost done. The person came out, and apologized. Once again I went to staff and reminded them about putting a placard up. By time it’s up, I will be swimming at home, but it will help the next person.

Today I swam 1/2 mile st the public pool and walked over 200 steps to and fro the car, the locker room, the pool. Not to mention dragging a chair into the shade so my meds weren’t in the sun, and into the shower. GEESH.
I cornered the manager. All kinds of excuses for not putting a placard on the stall that says handicap. So tired of te old “Can’t do” of government employees.
The loud PA was shouting st my land. Not so good for SPS stiffening. Oh well. At least I can still swim....
