I woke up this morning, and was envious of the days I went surfing until a few months ago. First the Red Tide stopped me. THen I became too sick with SPS to get back in the water. I know I could do it now, but the burden on my buddies is big, although I know they want to do it. And, it’s scary to be on the beach with them all out in the lineup.

And, its also scary to be in the lineup and not know if and when I will seize up. I will try to go out soon though.

My buddies are coming over in a fw weeks for a meetup at my house. Maybe I will share my fears and talk abou solutions.

What I miss a lot , though, and I am sure you can relate in your own life, is the ability to have the carefree joy of running down the boardwalk just before dawn, with my board, anticipating what the waves will look life, being stunned by the beauty and paddling out just as the sun is about to peek out from above the water line like a sunny side up egg....and turning and smiling at a fellow predawn surfer, quietly , as we both commune with nature, God, the universe at the spectacular beauty and specialness of this event ...

    I miss that mightily.

Today I swam 25 minutes, 820 yards. I am trying to stop sooner to see if more swimming equals weaker body and less energy throughout the day.

Yesterday I swam 666 yards in 20 minutes to avoid weakness for longer swim.

Today I swam 700 yards in 20 minutes.

Today I swam 20 minutes, 606 yards. My shin muscles were stretching uncomrfortably, so I swam cautiously. It felt good besides that.

I do not like that stretchy feeling in the muscle. I call it the warning shot across the bow, and a signal to proceed with caution. ... so far so good.

Yesterday I did not swim because I had too many small tasks to take care of and I did not want to collapse.

This morning, I swim for 20 minutes, 690 yards. Then I rested, then a friend came over to visit for two hours and now I will rest for the rest of the day, trying to settle the stiff person syndrome muscle wiggling Down.

                You guys rock it.

Today I swam 15 minutes, 550yards. I was getting too much SPS feedback from my legs. The past few days it has crept around to my calf as well, and now to the side of one leg. So weird. Taking the cover off set me up for increased problems, but it was way worse today. It involves starts and stops walking, pulling and bending from the waist. It takes about 5 minutes for the 40 ft pool, and really stiffens up the legs.

No one was home. I keep the phone by the edge of the pool, and the emergency meds... but still, its dicey.

I might look into Jeanie’s device. Wonder if its completely waterproof....

I was in the R2D2 most of the day after the swim, lying down ALOT....not worth it.Might take tomorrow off, especially since it willl be bloody cold.

DH is home today so he took off the cover. I swam 603 yards, 19minutes.

I have been so spastic the past several days. Hoping IVIG tomorrow will help.

TOday my DH pulled off the cover and I swam 20 minutes, 603 yards and pulled it back in from inside the pool, sat in the hot outdoor shower and recovered. It felt good and ambitious.

I moved my surfboards from the old house to the new one. It was bitter sweet. But, I felt so happy holding them, thinking of what might still be possible.

Today, DH pulled off the cover and I swam 20 minutes, 613 yards. Stiff as a board even above the knee this time, but feeling good about moving around in the water.. And I did it right after lunch, which usually I do it around 7am, or mid morning. .. even though later in the med dose, I didnt spasm, which was nice. Just really board like stiff.

Today I swam 20 minutes, 613 yards, nauseous and dizzy. No spasms. Was pleased that last nights spasm didn’t rear up again in the pool. Will rest now. Was robbed of sleep last night with spasm.....
