I used to go barefoot in the house but found Plantar Fasciitis was too painful and I needed a cushion. I now wear Sketcher Go Walks indoors and out. They are amazing and saved me. I have nice ones for 'going out' and icky ones for around the yard and house. They aren't as ugly as they used to be! I hope everyone is doing well. I drop in now and then. I am fine...been doing ok for awhile now...not wonderful, but ok. (I'll take it!) Son, his wife and 2 grandkids moved in with us 2 years ago and it's been hectic to say the least. I love every minute of it, but I am tired and worn out a lot of the time. I do not baby sit anymore...I did that last year twice a week, and it was too much. This year the kids go to Montessori school full time (they are 3 and 5 years old) and it is much easier for me. Enjoy your May, everyone. I'll catch up again!!!

Being that both of our kids are type I diabetics foot care is important. My son has always said that diabetics that don't take care of there feet should say good bye to there toes now. I have never gone barefoot inside or out. I do wear house shoes inside and when I crawl out of bed I get dressed and put socks and shoes on. I have never owned a pair of flip flops or sandels.

We planted a Pluot, Japanese plum, Lapin Cherry tree and 2 apple trees yesterday. Thank goodness I had my son and a backhoe. One of the apples is a Fuji and the other has 4 types grafted on the same tree. We have been intending to do this for 20 YEARS! We did not go to the big box home repair store instead we went to the local nursery that does the grafts right there and they raise their own root stock. The area where we live is known as the big apple of Idaho (Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...) Something many people notice is all the row crop fields are small. As apples are bull dozed out (long story) row crops are planted. These days you actually have to look to find apple or cherry trees. At the local cherry festival they have to ship cherries in. I have my certified seed potatoes ready to go Pontiac Reds and some purple ones as well, they dont taste any different but the grandklids love the purple french fries. Along with Rhubarb pies and homemade vanilla ice cream BBQ ribs and sausages. Makes summer heat bearable.

It is suppose to be 82 deg today and 70 tomorrow over 80 is getting too warm for me. I spent most of my life as an early riser but now I sleep in and its hard to get moving before noon. So I like my shops with a/c I bought all the pieces and parts off of Craigslist and we had central air in the shops before we had it in the house. I am in the process of installing a dust vacuum system in the wood shop. Well its on the list anyway....... But more importantly I have finally gotten almost all the pieces together to build a Trager BBQ/smoker. I wanted a BIG grill and couldn't convince my wife that we should spend $1,000 on a BBQ. We have already ordered our Thanksgiving turkey. We have a friend that raises them and takes them to a local USDA approved poultry butcher.

Cherie have you considered that MS is affecting your BP? I am currently on 6 meds for BP. A flare will shoot it to numbers well in the stroke zone. The last time I was hospitlized it had gotten to 235/160. This usually requires steroids and my the end of the second day it starts to come down. Now if it is in the neighborhood of 160/90 the docs are satisfied, not happy but satisfied. I had gone to a kidney doc and he looked at my list and said I can get you bp down....but you are not going to like it. If you have trouble with fatigue now you aint seen nuttin yet!

:) Hi everyone. I am sick of bring tired. Last night I planned to get up early today and shampoo my hair and then go to the shoe repair and to the mechanic because my back up camera they installed for me quit working. I even went to bed early.

Well I did not get off the bed to stay up until 1 PM. It is now after 3:30 and I have not done my hair. I have decided that doing my hair will be my total accomplishment today.

Hopefully tomorrow I can see the mechanic and get Lacy's nails trimmed. She has mastered the doggie doors and is doing all her business in the yard so the pee pads are still clean.

I know I should not complain as some of you have it worse than I do. Mostly I am frustrated with myself for not pushing myself to do more. I still have some 200 mg Provigils left so maybe tomorrow morning I will take 1/4 of one and hope it gives me more energy.

Another thing I put off was inquiring about maid service. I really need to do that. Our temp today is in the mid seventies and a nice change from the heat. Jeanie :)

Jeanie, I have a friend who has some neurological deficits due to spinal surgery and has been using Merry Maids for some years. They seem to be very satisfactory--though as I understand it they don't do laundry.

Gary, you mentioned a Pluot tree--would that be a cross between a plum and an apricot?

Lorraine (Whisper), it's nice to hear from you! You must be very busy but it's nice that you were willing to take in the relatives. I'm sure they appreciate it, and if they don't, they should.

I looked up Skecher Go Walks--they look like comfortable and attractive shoes.

One thing about MS--a person tends not to wear shoes out as fast as other people do. (Looking on the bright side here if there is one.)
            SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Busy Board here this week! Yes, Parsi, we leave our shoes by the back door when we come in. Kids and grandkids also have their families doing it. Podiatrist tells me that barefoot is better as long as the foot has normal sensation (wouldn't want to step on a tack and not know it). We use an ecoquest "Fresh Air" and have used it for years. Pretty much only use it to remove cooking odors which it does nicely. Haven't noticed any difference in David's allergies with or without it.

              Gary,
One of the reasons I had an MRI in February was because of the BP. However, the Radiologist did not even mention brain stem in report when the script was written to note condition of brain stem lesions. He also did not measure for atrophy when that was ordered. AND he reported that the lesions did not enhance with gadolinium.....there was no gadolinium used in this MRI. I have written him and my doc has written him but there has not yet been a response to either of us and no amended report. On my to do list to report it. I just cannot seem to get on top of the fatigue and I believe it is BP related.

                I loved going barefoot.
Now I need to protect my feet from myself.
                Hi-Top sneakers became my uniform.
Several years ago it was unbelievable what could be found in basketball sneaks.
One of our members- a cook by profession
wore them all the time and I took the cue.

Shoe hound, I have purple paisley, mustard paisley, fire engine red, silvery blue, all black Chuck Taylors,
2 pair of suede faux fur lined high tops. It's hilarious.
Teenagers stop me on the street or come over to me in public places and express their
                shoe admiration.

For the summer low key gladiator sandals (3 colors) tie up around my foot, provide
heel protection and offer the same ease of on/off and foot swell.

Fun, safe shoes are the next best to au naturel.

Shoes are good for the sole!

I have three pairs of shoes. Some slip on leather shoes I wear to go anywhere. Some junk tennis shoes I was wearing to mow grass, but I think I am done with that and have a guy that mows for me now, and a nice pair of tennis shoes I've worn one time. I don't want to get them dirty!

Around the house, I go barefoot. I never wore shoes as a kid when I was home, inside or out, and it toughened my feet. Not like those tenderfoots who take their shoes off, and go OUCH!!! EWWW!!!! OHHHH!!!

I thought I was barefoot and pregnant once, but it was just gas.

So you named it "toots" then?

I fell asleep about 6pm. I just woke up, and saw it was 10. I THINK I already ate, because I made something, but was done after a few bites. So is TV good late at night?
