I am back among the living...more or less. My kidney function is back to normal meaning no protein or blood so I am able to cancel kidney doc appt. Doc says it was due to major UTI well duh that is what I went to him for. I probably should have gone to the ER at some point but it all worked out.

Howie I am also wondering why the predisone? I have done 'roids more times than I can count. But it has been for MS related stuff. I usually take predisone taper after the IVSM due to the nasty reaction that I get afterwards. I also admit that it does clear up (temporally anyway) all my aches and pains and painful joints. Mostly due to doing things that I shouldn't have done like lifting the wrong way or throwing hay bales up on a trailer...... stupid farmer stuff. After all when you are young you are gonna live forever and nothing bad will ever happen. I wish that it was something I could take for the long term but the side effects can be worse than the problem. Large doses if IVSM have caused my diabetes and require insulin now to control it. I am really afraid to have a bone density study done as I am probably a half a step from osteoporosis.

I wish I had treated my body better!

I have taken 2 AD's for several years and I cannot imagine my life without them. I am thinking I need to either up the dosage or try something else. The only thing that bothers me is the month or so that it takes to see any change. But after several years now I wish I would have taken them from the start. I can remember how really bad that I felt without them.

Now if I could find something that restores some of my energy... Although I plan to cut the grass tomorrow morning before it gets too warm.

It has been really cool here lows in the low 40's and highs in the 60's summer is returning for one last punch it is suppose to be 95 on Saturday. So back to hibernating inside for awhile.

Joan, the Prednisone for me was like taking an Aspirin, no adverse effects at all. It helps with my shoulder because it's effective against Arthritis which I have all over the place.

An Aunt on my mother's side of the family was crippled by it. She just stayed in bed. Her hands were twisted and knotted, they were kind of scary to a kid. The classic "witches hands". I never could find her broom.

Gary said "I wish I had treated my body better." Ain't that the truth! But you never give it a second thought. When you are young, you can't wait to get older. But once you are older, you wish things were like they were when you were young! We humans are never satisfied!

It feels like it should be Saturday to me. I guess after my doctor visit, I instantly fell back to my usual routine of not knowing what day it is.

      .................................................. ................
Adding that the pain I had in my shoulder was not caused by my, what I call "dislocated shoulder" causing so much pain.

(And it's not a dislocated shoulder, but something like it with a fancy name I never remembered)

So it was Arthritis in that joint of my shoulder causing the pain. Prednisone still seems the answer to relief.

So glad you are back among the living Gary.

And so happy you are pain free for awhile Howie.

Saw the diabetes nurse today (after waiting for an appointment since May). She said although my A1C was 6.4 and is now 6.2 that I have diabetes and am not pre-diabetic because I have been fighting this fight since 2008. I have not had an elevated A1C since early 2009 but apparently because of my age, family history and the length of time this has been "cooking" there is a diagnosis of diabetes. I'm bummed. She did say that I am managing it 'beautifully' and my diet is good but she wants me to see dietician once more as Medicare will pay for that. She gave me a new glucometer as mine is almost 6 years old and they need to be replaced every 3 years. She also said since my strips were expired, they were not accurate. Geez! I've worked so hard on this for months. Feels like it was all for nothing. (feels like...but I know in the end it pays off).

Gary (Howie) and all...prednisone is given to people with arthritis when NSAIDS do not relieve the pain. It is pretty routine but I wish it were not as the long term side effects are not good...like diabetes and osteoporosis and weight gain and fluid retention and sleep problems to name a few.

My sister saw her neuro-Oncologist today and he said there is no change in the MRI and the tumor has not doubled in size since April. He thinks the seizures were caused by stress and wants to get her off the seizure meds. Will see her again in a month after a repeat MRI. She is accepting that word instantly even though another team of neurologists , Oncologists, and Neurosurgeons all agreed when she was in Springfield that the tumor had grown considerably and was likely the cause of the unrelenting seizures for more than a week.

Talk about boredom, I finally gave in to "Install Windows 10" AGAIN, and I can't get back to 8.1. The search continues! Why did I do that?

I had to finally dump EVERYTHING like you would do if you sold your computer. WARNING! Windows 10 KILLED my computer. I'm back to 8.1 and will NEVER change. Now I have something to keep me busy, AND exercise my brain, for a day or two. But not tonight. Sleep well all!

That's the same thing you said when I found you a way to do it the first time. After all the trouble I went to finding a way for you to uninstall it I will know better than to offer you computer help again.

I wanted to find that post, but 10 killed EVERYTHING. I COULDN'T get to this forum, or anywhere. Dumping everything and starting over from scratch was my only option. I lost SO much. Don't let me do that again!

I always wait until they tell me they're no longer going to support the version I have, then I call my computer guy to come and switch for me. Otherwise I inevitably screw something up, and lose valuable stuff. Not to mention my level of frustration goes through the roof. I have this real love/hate connection with computers...

Everyone is in dire need of a good computer guy. I had a great couple of guys in WA state. They built me a new computer 12 years ago and it's still working fine. Those guys are worth their weight in gold.

Well, my start page looks fairly normal, a cool background which I love doing. The first thing I looked for was this place! I have about half the apps I had, but I won't miss them. They were just "fill" to make me look like a real computer geek!

What I have now fills the START page which is all I need. It made for an interesting day. I'll go on record, stay away from Windows 10!

I'm never sure what the Start page is exactly. Would that be the page you get when you first turn on your computer, the one with the icons of your choice?

I agree it's great fun tinkering with the backgrounds for that. I really care what faces me on that screen because I see it every day.

I have a scene showing trees in autumn just now. I used to have an aquarium scene with realistic looking fish moving. It included a starfish that moved a tiny bit sometimes.
