Wow, Howie, you're living dangerously now! May the Force be with you! If you can do it, maybe I'll try. I asked a friend about it who said it was an adjustment, but doable with patience.

You made me feel better about my physical difficulties with such a long conversation, maybe it was just being outta practice for my vocal chords too. I was a little worried about a diminished lung capacity or something seriously wrong. Thanks for that reassurance.

Agate, yes, it's much more difficult to have that "community" when you're not able to get out as much. We need to figure out ways to gently be able to offer more opportunities for social interaction. It's not just those with disabilities or seniors, with social media, I fear everyone is less engaged in physical social contact and being deprived of something so vital to a sense of wellbeing. I was shocked at how deeply it affected me and improved my spirit to have such quality personal connections.

I agree too with your comments to Virginia, many times others don't know our limitations. Along the same lines, the fire department came the other day and broke down my neighbor's door when homecare (for his wife) couldn't get in as he'd had an event and had not unlocked his door like he'd always done for them. He's not been back yet, and his wife I believe has been moved to an extended care facility in the meantime. I haven't heard his status, but I've been picking up and keeping his newspapers so they don't pile up at his door. Hoping he's okay, I saw he was conscious at least when the ambulance took him away.

They look like dental xrays to me.

      Nuthatch, sorry about the fire.

      Virginia, prayers for your brother.

Agate, with all this talk about x-ray images, is it time to post my MRI again?

I don't know, Howie. It's entirely up to you of course but why not save that for some very special occasion?

Thanks to everyone for concern for my brother. If he will just not get up and go out in this heat and try to keep going maybe the medicine will have an opportunity to work for him. That is hard for him to do, and he always makes jokes like the text that he sent to his wife and kids. It is sometimes good but then it is hard to know how really sick someone is when they are still joking around.

Agate, have not been able to get in touch with my neighbor as of now. Her answering machine is not working and I believe that she might be home from Hospice because one of her son's vehicle was parked in front of her house when I went to get my mail last night.

Speaking of not having social contact, I am one of the worse ones about that. I sometime go for 5 days without speaking to anyone at all in person. I have lost so many friends and neighbors who have moved to either be close to their families or go into an independent living facility. Gradually we loose contact. But I am bad about not keeping up with people. There are still neighbors that I could go out to eat with, and they tell me just to let them know when. As I am sure some of you can relate, I am afraid to make plans because I don't know if I will be able to follow through.

Suzie, I haven't seen a salon around here that separated the colorist from the stylist. Sounds like it would be very nurturing for a person, but also to pay two different people sounds as though it might be even more expensive. It is already very expensive here to go for cut and color, or at least I think it is. Some people have no problem with it at all. Sounds like you had fun and that it gave you the incentive to want to do more. Don't know where you are but hope the heat was not bad. It is close to 100 degrees here most days with the heat index being higher.

Yes, it's hot here too. When I walked out the door of the salon, I was hit with a wave of heat, nearly buckled my knees. I think talking so much for 3 hours weakened me, actually, I saw a tremor in one off my hands that wouldn't ordinarily be obvious if I was relaxed and not under any strain. I limped inside when I got home even though it was an air conditioned ride home. The experience took a toll, even though it was so rewarding. I could clearly not be a news anchor though, this I found out.

Yes, I agree, it's the lack of being reliably able to keep plans that has curtailed much of my social interactions too. You can only cancel so many plans before there's no new excuses you can believably make and you stop making most plans at all. Glad I had that boost today. Surprisingly, the price was very reasonable, despite 2 people, but color was discounted for new client (though I tipped heavily given what a fantastic experience it was). I'll definitely go back. Who knew such a nonevent could become such a meaningful one? We just never know where these gems are hidden in our pathway.

Howie, hopefully you've not disappeared into the Windows10 abyss. We know Virginia and Agate can't save you, and I certainly can't. We don't just "want" you here, we need you here. We'd have to ask Jeanie if one of her dear sons could possibly help you out if it comes down to it.

And as Agate said, while we really relish reading your MRI results, we like to build up to them on special occasions. Such a treat they are, though.

Howie, you can do all kinds of other things while something is downloading, or at least I've been doing that for years. As long as you keep the download window minimized on your screen so you can pull it up now and then and make sure it's going along OK, you should be fine, but maybe Windows 10 is totally different and I just don't know.

                    Lies Peg, all lies!

Actually, I'm JUST able to get online. It took TWO Chuck Norris films to load! I haven't been able to look around yet, so no opinion. I've stayed up way too late, and now thinking of not sleeping, and playing with the computer, and watching some boring movie.

                    See you in the AM!

I downloaded 10 some time ago, and it was relatively trouble free. I got rid of cortana , the talking search engine feature, and did some customizing to make it look more like I was accustomed to, but it has been the most user friendly of any of the Microsoft updates, so I'm happy.

I think I'll get use to it in no time. My whole internet experience is 3 forums, the news and calendar, and being able to order my refills at CVS, and everything else is on Amazon. "Take a trip and never leave the farm".

If you're downloading Windows 10 itself, that's a major download. I wouldn't be so casual about doing other things while downloading something like that. Please see Peg's post about what happened to her.

I have a laptop, and when it was downloading, this little light on the front was flickering which tells you it's downloading something. I just set it on the floor and watched TV.

I really don't see any advantages to having 10. Maybe if I did more, but at least it stopped those annoying messages......"3 days left to switch for free".
