My mailbox is probably 150 yards away, far too far for me to walk, and I don't want to get in that steaming hot car to drive. The AC in the car would just start cooling it off about the time I got back to the house.

I usually have the checks for my bills ready come the 3rd, payday, but I got thrown off that for some reason, and that threw everything off. But now, all the bills are paid, I have something ordered from Amazon, but get daily updates, and this back brace should be tomorrow or the next day, but will check the mail until it gets here.

    I love getting new stuff.

Virginia, I certainly hope you'll ask your neuro for that letter.

I was quite upset when I realized how many housing situations involved mailboxes outdoors, often far from a person's house/apartment/mobile home. I can't imagine why that was allowed. It's unkind to disabled and elderly people, to put it mildly.

I've lived in places where the mail came in through a slot in the front door and fell on the floor inside the house. All you had to do was bend over and pick it up, or use a tongs to pick it up.

I don't see why individual locked boxes can't still be used. Putting them outdoors at remote locations must be for the mail carrier's convenience.

I've heard it's because the mail carriers were getting attacked by so many dogs that the idea is to get the mail delivered without contact with dogs. I don't know if that's the main reason.

In this area, I've heard of cat attacks, but I'm not naming any names!

When people live close together, either in a building or a tight neighborhood with the same distance from sidewalk to door, door to door mail delivery is possible. When you live in the country, with houses far apart, and then long driveways from.house to house...in the middle of, say, a Wisconsin winter, then door to door delivery is not possible. My mailbox is a quarter mile away, attached to a shelf with 15 neighbor boxes. Apartment buildings also group boxes together in a central location, which is fine if you can get there, but a problem for folks with mobility issues.

Dogs are an issue. So is the personnel costs to hire enough people to do door to door. Having boxes in one location means the carrier can deliver mail.to a lot more people in a lot less time.

As for eggs, yes, less time. Beat in a bit of milk to make them a bit creamer. I don't know why the dish broke in the dishwasher, but I don't think baking eggs in the microwave was the culprit. More likely the dish already had cracks in it....not always visible...and the washing and hot water was the last straw.

I love getting new stuff too, Howie, but the catalogs they send drive me nuts. Especially since you can look at them online too. What a waste of paper! A service called Catalog Choice gets rid of most of them although I still get a few.

I have to go down about half a dozen steep stairs to get to my mailbox and take a bag with me to carry the mail upstairs. It's pretty tricky so I usually wait for Lenny to come home and get it.

Son and his wife welcomed a beautiful baby boy into the world last night, after a long 22 hour labor. Unfortunately he is currently in NICU because he is having a slight breathing problem, so the doctors are being cautious, giving him antibiotics and testing for infections. Please keep him in your prayers for a speedy recovery. My son and his wife are so exhausted and concerned. We have all waited so long for this little guy.

Sorry to read that Gary lost his relative. Hope he soon feels ready to return here where we all care and support him. Cherie too. I don't do much on Facebook and prefer to keep up with the "MS family" here instead. Thank you all for being here.

I miss Gary and Renee. Certainly there are others missing or they are reading and haven't checked it. Summer is hard.

Everyone get your hankies out as I begin my sad story.

I ordered a back brace to wear on bad days. I've been chasing that package for 3 days now, and I STILL don't have it. I have a stack of delivery notices from the post office.

It's here, where do we deliver it? I checked the appropriate place, my mailbox.

Next, we need your signature. I sign it where it was supposed to sign.

Today, I need to pick it up at the post office. So I drive there, and they don't have it, the mailperson has it. Here's our number, call at 3. I leave, then don't remember, 3 today, or 3 tomorrow?

It's 93 degrees out, and the AC in the car didn't even feel like it was working. But I made it home, and am just now starting to cool down. That $%^ back brace had better be made of solid gold!

That's very frustrating. One reason I hate ordering anything is that I dread this kind of thing.

Being able to track packages by e-mail has been helpful. You can see where it is and when it's probably going to get to you. You might be able to do that with this package.

I would assume they mean for you to call at 3 PM today.

I did call today, and the mailperson hadn't checked in yet. So I played the MS card which I only use for situations like this. The package will be there tomorrow any time after 8am. CA-CHING!!!

Seems smart to play the MS card . It's a real burden for you in this heat. Well played!

Thanks BBS, I don't use that MS card very often, but when I do, it will bring a tear to your eye!

I am going to run my dishwasher tonight when I start to bed. First time since the dish broke in it, so if I hear something crunching when I turn it on I guess it will mean I did not get it all. I had 4 of those little pyrex dishes and I took another one and tried and, for the life of me, I cannot figure out how it fell from the top to the bottom. I could not find a way for it to get through anywhere - not even if it split in half. So it must have split in more than two pieces and then shattered when it hit the bottom.

I saw something on the news tonight that really shocked me. In 2016 in this area, the county I live in, almost 2500 houses have gone up for sell. There are now only 199 houses left to sell. They said that people are putting their houses on the market and selling them within 1 to 3 days. They cited the strong economy in this area. That is nice, but no help to me, because it just means everything is more expensive. They also said that people who did not wish to sell were not affected because without a sell there is no gain. They laughed when they said that.

It showed a couple of realtors saying they had no inventory and were just trying to sell what they could find.

Now, if we could just move Vicky's house to this area and split the money from the sell we would all get a nice little chunk!!!

Funny thing is my neighbor was telling me two days ago how fast the units like we have are selling (she has one like I have). She said due to it having a bedroom downstairs and all units like this are on the end. Actually, it is that everything is selling. She thought it was just ours. People are so funny.
