However, computer aside, Howie you need to eat. Please start fixing food and eating again. Sleeping is alright, but you do need food. Remember to take care of yourself so you can take care of the cats and come here to see us.

So hot (102) and smokey here. Sad to say our beautiful Big Sur coastline is on fire now. The high temps, low humidity and now wind are making a difficult situation worse for the firefighters.

Well my computer is back 100%. That scared me. I really thought my computer was done for, and I can't afford another right now.

I went to a new hair salon today and had the BEST conversations with both the stylist and colorist, both separate and about completely different topics. Sometimes, these unexpected deep discussions can feel like gold and so nourishing to the soul. It felt like I was given a real gift today, something I wasn't anticipating at all. It reminds me again how important human contact can be to our wellbeing. I talked so much I kept losing my voice and had to stop mid-sentence to take gulps of water!
It took waaay longer than usual because of the conversations, but what a treat, I made new and meaningful acquaintances that meant more to me than how happy I am with my hair! It was such a pleasure to enjoy such wonderful conversations and laughs with new people, it totally made my day!
I heard on the news today that lack of exercise is so bad, it's second only to smoking in its life-limiting effects. Given the buoyancy that my interaction today gave me, I think I'm going to the nearby fitness centre tomorrow to see about a membership and a few lessons with a trainer, to make sure I get as much bang for my time as I can before reaching my limit.

Suze, I get choked up talking to brother or sister on the phone, simply because I talk so little. A long conversation gets me choked up. I try to keep something to drink close by so I can "wet my whistle".

SuzE-Q, I know what you mean about human contact. There are days when I see hardly anyone. I wander out in the hall, maybe to get my mail, and that's about it. If I'm feeling a bit downcast, then see a neighbor who is friendly, it absolutely makes my day.
Some neighbors have problems that seem to make them grumpy and self-absorbed. I'm always glad when I'm spared one of them.

I don't think clicking on attachments posted on this board would be dangerous. Attachments sent in an e-mail from an unknown person are another matter entirely.That's why I seldom will click on anything posted on the net. It's just too dangerous.
nuthatch, I hope your area isn't under a serious threat from the fire? Big Sur country--I didn't realize that is where you are until now--must be very beautiful.
Virginia, I hope your brother will be OK.
Also hope that the neighbor will be all right. I know how you feel--helpless when someone else needs help and you want to help but can't.
The paramedics from the Fire Dept. are very good at knocking down doors and getting to someone in need though. I saw that happen often in the other building I lived in for so long. The neighbor across the hall from me who had MS often fell out of his wheelchair. His door was broken down I don't know how many times. The paramedics usually just kicked it in.
There are times when you just have to let the paramedics take over. They usually know what they're doing, and you can do only so much.
It may be one of those situations where she doesn't understand how MS can limit a person. Maybe you look more capable than you really are.
