Howie, I think I'm behind the times here, but I have no idea how it's even possible to buy something off FB using your bank account? I'd be sure to clear this up before any more money is deposited in your account though. Sounds like you might have located your problem. Like so many others here, I also online bank and it's fantastic to be able to go and check the status of your account, a list of transactions, and pay bills directly online. It makes life a lot easier to keep on top of stuff, at your own convenience.

That's a good step, Cat! Glad your body and muscles are showing the capability to improve and strengthen! I really admire you in so many ways.

Virginia, I saw the movie, but didn't read the book The English Patient, but I think I'm one of the rare people who didn't enjoy it. Books are always better, I find anyway. A good writer can write about the most mundane thing and make a great story out of it.

Sally, I'm glad you checked in. No pressure, but please know you always have a "home" and family here, if you ever want to check in. I'm going to start watching all the bird cams again and will miss your exchanges!

:) Woke up and could not get online. I tried restore and it still would not go online. I called Jim and he had me disconnect the power cord to the modem for 30 seconds. That worked. A good trick to know.

JeanieZ, it's a truly great trick to know! It's one I have to do several times a week at least with this computer, ever since I got it back in August. The tech guy who advised me told me 60 seconds though.

I was puzzled too but I think he must have clicked on one of those ads that are always hovering around the edges on Facebook and bought something through one of them.

I had to think hard before I remembered those ads. I must have trained myself not to see them because I had trouble remembering they were there. I don't think I've ever clicked on one of them. I have trouble trusting Facebook unless it's very basic mainstream stuff like "liking" something or sending a message or posting a photo.

Howie, I also use a debit card. However, I can use it and come straight home and it is already listed on my online banking. This means I will never forget to deduct it from my handwritten, personal register.

No, that's still not making sense how you use a debit card to buy anything off FB? I thought only credit cards or paypal were the forms of online payments, I don't think I've heard of using a debit card for that.

Howie, you should report it to FB if you WERE hacked, I would think FB has some responsibility to vet ads on their site to ensure they are legit!

The bad thing is, I'm not 100% sure it WAS Facebook, but I'm pretty sure. I don't go very many places online, so it pretty much had to be.

And another twist to the story, I tried to get the online banking you talked about, you know, to see what my balance is, and got through most of it, then hit a wall, and it wouldn't let me do it. I triple checked the info I gave them, and couldn't get past that step.

Changing the subject some, I went to the doctor today, and I'm going to live. My next appointment is in August. I got the prescription for the one med that will run out before then. I need to run it to CVS before payday so I pick up all but one of my meds then.

What a boring life I live. I built Pinky to go 140+mph (on paper) and I think I need to test that to add a little excitement to my life. THAT would do it!!!

I do too, very cool like a book, "How to Keep Cats from Running Your Life". But if it was, Sam would have stopped me. Or, "How to Hotrod a VW Karmann Ghia", but I wrote that book.

This has been a tough month, but I will get through it. I have enough food, but have to break into my emergency rations. I like flavored oatmeal, and peanut butter on crackers, and sugarless lemonade to drink. And still have coffee to start the day, and chocolate ice cream for dessert.

I guess I'm not suffering TOO much!

Suze, usually if you can use a credit card to pay online, you can also use a debit card. Some sites don't allow a card, then you have to use paypal or whatever they specify.
I have to admit I don't normally do shopping online, but I have paid bills. I don't have a credit card, only a debit card. Only once did I use paypal. Another time it was an alternate site (can't remember the name).

Howie, I think most (if not all) banks will let you check balance and transactions through the phone. But you have to set up a passcode with them first.

BTW when you ran into the wall in setting up online banking, did you call the bank about the problem? Perhaps you were suppose to notify them first. (I believe I had to. It's been awhile).

It's a short month. Only 4.5 more days of it plus 2 more till the money rolls in = 6.5 days. [Sam is running out of toes to count on.] That's OK, Sam--you're close enough. I know you're not one of those 6-toed cats like Ernest Hemingway's.
