Howie, the two fuzzy friends should be taking care of you. Teach those cats right - tell them Cat Daddy is sick and it is their turn.

Jeanie, so sorry you had another fall. I wish you could get that van fixed and safe. Can Andy and Jim help with getting it done? I can only imagine how it must make you feel. Take care of yourself, cause you are the only one who can do that.

Jendie, that is a total of 5 or 6 blocks walking. Sounds like a lot to me. I know you were proud that you could manage it. I certainly would be.

Jeannie I am so sorry you had to go through this. Everyone on the planet is one step away from having these kinds of accidents, although some are more likely to due to MS. Please do not allow yourself to feel embarrassment. You would be amazed at how many well people see you as an amazing exercise in determination. Very few would think less of you for your accident and those, frankly, are very small and petty people.

I, for one, am amazed at your grit and the grit of everyone here.

Now, for the practical. First, take care of your wounds and start to heal. Then, I guess try to figure out how much of your weakness is due to MS damage and how much is secondary to it, i.e. Due to disuse because of MS. The latter can be changed to some extent. I follow agates progress with great interest as she has found a routine that works around her MS and that keeps her muscles strong .

Getting tired of this double post problem. I post it. A message says I have to wait 45 secs., even though I hadn't posted anything prior to it... I wait 45 sec and then post it. Results in double post.

Maybe we should start a thread about our most memorable fall! Our most graceful. Our most embarrassing falls. Our most unusual falls. We could start a thread about our SAVES instead of our falls! Tricks to saving yourself when falling. I know it is not funny to fall ...I am just joking around because a chuckle might help...

All the articles about preventing falls do not take into account that some of us are just going to fall. Maybe we could come up with descriptive names for our falls. SSusan always talked about doing a "face plant". I never experienced that but last week I did a great face plant. SSUsan's name was right. I planted my face on the hard ground. Scratched the lenses of my glasses. Oops.

I never wear skirts anymore because at least when I fall I want my ass covered! On the way down I want don't want to worry about holding down my skirts.

I don't either. Keeps my knees from getting the skin scraped off of them!

How about a butt fall? That's what fractured my ankle.

                That sounds like talent, Howie.

I fell down the last 3 steps to the landing when I lived in a townhouse apartment in April 2011. I landed on my left ankle and the x-ray showed that I fractured it. 2 months in a cast, and 2 more months in an air boot. My dog sure got fat during that time. My kids wouldn't take the dog out for exercise while I was incapacitated.

Like the saying goes, "You brought 'em into this world, and you can send them out of this world too".

My fracture must have been hairline. I'm not even wrapping the Ace bandage around it. That thing was irritating my skin. I'm taking pain meds for something else, and maybe it works on that too. I can walk on it with just minor pain, or none at all.

                  Pain is the pits!

This morning I walked about 17 blocks from church to home.

Show off!!! Just kidding. That's really good Parsi. I don't do daily walking like I should. "Use it or lose it" they say.

Great! I am thinking about going for a walk! Thinking is not much compared with actually doing?!

I didn't see any groundhogs and so I don't know if he saw his shadow. Squirrels weren't seeing their shadows because it was cloudy. By a brilliant deduction I've decided that any groundhog around here would not have seen his shadow. So we'll have an early spring. I'm all for that.

But you never know. Shadows can be funny. Don't most groundhogs have better things to do than going around looking for their shadows anyway? And people haul a groundhog out of its burrow just for this event.

BBS, yesterday I posted in the Feedback forum about another problem I've been having, and I also mentioned that some people here have been finding duplicate posts showing up.

I don't know if the two problems are connected, but my problem has been always having to refresh the board to make the more recent posts show up. It's been like this for a long time. I'm used to it but was wondering if it really should be happening.

Thinking takes energy! I can't think why it doesn't burn very many calories, LOL.
