Airports are a challenge, to put it mildly.
"Keep on moving" is a great concept but airports don't seem the best places to exercise for me. For one thing, you almost always have to be at a certain place by a certain time to meet a plane or board a plane, and so you're hurrying along, probably.
One of the worst things I can do is to hurry along.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Flying isn't part of my exercise routine either but lately the pedometer readings have been:
2/13 - 1380 steps
2/14 - 1038
2/15 - 1044
2/16 - 1580
2/17 -1192
2/18 - 1390
2/19 - 1397
Looking at these figures I realize I have to try to walk more.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

You probably take more, Howie, because a typical person takes 3,000-5,000. Of course you're not typical but the things you talk about doing sound as if you're walking around a bit--and pretending the Hoveround isn't there.

There are days like when I go on a big grocery shop, but even then, I use the electric carts. At home, the poor Hoveround just sits, but tomorrow it could all change, and I couldn't walk. What would the cats do then?
On a normal day here, I walk to the kitchen to feed the cats, then do the litter boxes, then back to sitting on the bed until I make my one meal of the day.
I guess it does add up, but I sure feel I don't walk much.
SAM, I'm ready for my meal!!!

That's great agate! And it's great that you CAN do it and that you then DO do it.
Howie, do what you CAN do.if that is all MS let's you do, then that's great you do it. If you think you can take more steps, gradually increase it each day.
Today I was a big shot and did a small grocery run on foot. That was an error. I promise not to do it again. Resting and will skip making dinner. It was going to be a yummy Afghani eggplant, onion , tomato and yogurt dish. Dang..

Just a reminder......Howie is always willing to taste test any food that crosses this forum, to make sure it makes the grade. What a selfless guy he is, always putting others first.

But Howie, you're so selfless that you'd just feed it to your cats, and their opinion would be a cat's opinion. Valuable in its way but not quite what might be called for here.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Well here's the way it works around here. Daddy, that's me, gets to put his fork into any dish cooked around here first. But he is careful to leave a little of anything on the plate for the girls.
When we have all finished, we each give their opinion of how it tasted, and any suggestions of how it could be improved. A fair and honest way to do things don't you think?

No. It's close though. It's a Bursnee Banjan recipe from NY Times many years ago. You broil the eggplant befor assembling it with the onion, tomato and you then place the cooked stuff on top of a homemade yogurt sauce.Originally posted by Frog42 View Post
No, I just couldn't cook last night due to the legs. I will try today, but the eggplant may be too ripe. Sigh. Such is MS. Once I retire, these things will be more doable,

Ummmm, that recipe sounds so good. I like eggplant and eat it out, but never fix it here at home just for myself.
Agate, you are doing very good with your steps.
Yesterday I really didn't feel all that well. I think I was just tired because I went out Sunday night and then Monday night I had my meditation group. I do not like to go out two nights or two days in a row. I can usually tell a difference in how I feel. Anyway, I stayed in bed until noon, but then changed the linen on bed and did dusted my bedroom and cleaned the master bath. I just piddled. I cooked some beef stew. I had had the meat in the freezer for over a month and figured I better use it. So, I took it out of the freezer and put it in the refrigerator side the day before.
Today, I felt much better. I dusted the rest of the house downstairs and mopped the kitchen and two bathrooms down here. Also, made a couple of business calls. Tomorrow I hope to get the downstairs vacuumed. I like to take at least 45 minutes to an hour on vacuuming down here. They say you are supposed to vacuum real slow and go in one direction and then go crosswise. Don't know where I got that from, but it just makes me feel better when I do a good job on the carpet and floors. I almost forgot, today I also walked to my mailbox which I do not do very often. It is about a 3/4 block (round trip) and when there is humidity I can't do that.
Anyway, just daily living was exercise for me. Wish I was smart enough to do more.Virginia
