Old rubber hoses can also swell due to age, and being heated inside the hot engine compartment. The money you spend on a car should bring satisfaction and not aggravation.

Today was the best day I've had in a long time! We went to sign the paper to begin working on my Cruiser. They are going WAY beyond damage done from the wreck. When it's finished next week, it will look like a new car, and about half of it WILL be new.

Then picked up my meds at CVS. The driver's window won't roll down, been that way for some time. So I walked around and got in the back, and rolled the rear window down so I could talk to the girl at the window. They all know me there, and I told her my sister was my driver.

After that, we went to the grocery store, and made what I think can be almost my only trip for groceries. I have to cut back on my food expenditure this month, to pay for the car. So I bought wisely, and no extras. I love a challenge!

I just finished a nice long chat with my brother. We talked about EVERYTHING!!!

I bought lots of healthy food, so what am I having for dinner? Coffee!

I didn't sleep last night, so I am sleepy, but charged up at the same time. I may not eat tonight. I feel like sleep would be wise before long, I can eat tomorrow.

We have a 1948 Willy's Overland Jeep Stationwagon. It has a new engine. John and his father rebuilt the vehicle. when I was first married we used to plow the snow with it. Old cars really had style.

Didn't they? Today you drive down the road, and one car looks like every other car, then...oh look, a 55 Chevy...or, over there, a 63 Ford. Or...look, an old Jeep Willy's. Or look, a 2005 PT Cruiser. Okay, maybe not the Cruiser.

You plan for heat Suze. Shop groceries at opening time of 7:00 a.m. While temp still in 70's and car won't bake. You skip some activities until Oct . You only putter around outdoor places early morning, or evening.
There is always a cooling vest for hot parts of the day.

Remember, everything in Florida is air conditioned. Except the beach etc. , obviously.

This is a good plan for any climate where summer days can mean temperatures over 85' or so, IMO.

Yes, it is a good plan where there are temps that get high. I certainly agree with that. I went out today and stopped by Whole Foods for one item, then went on to Home Depot for a couple of things and then to Lowes Foods for a few more food items. It was very hot. When I got back I went to meet two brothers and one sister-in-law for dinner. I could not have done this if it had been in the days when cars were not air conditioned.

Thank goodness almost everywhere is air conditioned now that is indoors. I go from air conditioning to air conditioning, and I am sure most of you do. Still I dread the overwhelming hot months ahead because just getting to the car and getting it cooled down on some days is almost more than I can take.

When I go to the store in hot weather, I get in the car, and turn the AC full blast, and about the time I get to the store, it's just starting to cool down.

One thing I've found that helps is rolling all the windows down until I get on the asphalt road. It blows all that hot air out. Even when it's hot outside, it's still cooler than the car is when I first get in.

I just go early these days. It's at it's coolest before it starts heating up, AND you miss the crowds, and get out and head to the coolest place to be...HOME!

We always try to go early,,{groceries},, no crowds,, and we usually, visit with the employees,,

its been hot and humid, the last few days,,we have no central air.. it was my choice,, we have a whole house fan,, keeps it cool in here,,

animal report,, dog is fine,, she had a thorn stuck in her paw,, horse is on the mend,, we put pads on him,,seems to be working,,cows,, well one out of 2 is good,, the other calf got stuck in a tree,, and Joe had to saw the tree down,, to get him out of his situation,,{ the tree was half way down, and the calf apparently tried to jump over it},, back leg had a branch go through it, so this does not look good ..

That's really too bad about the hurt animals, Peg. Hope the calf will be all right.

I can understand wanting not to have air conditioning. A person can get dependent on it but you still have to go out in the heat, and that heat seems a lot harder to take if you've been in an air conditioned place for a while.

If the power goes out, you have no air conditioning. The power has a way of going out when it's very hot. Or at least that's how it seems to me.

But I've been sitting in an air conditioned apartment for the last 7 years and am really glad to have it.

The apartment I lived in for 28 years had no AC--the building wouldn't allow it. I found out from a friend there that they just had a huge remodeling that went on for nearly a year, and they seem to have almost rebuilt the building. Glad I missed that. While they were at it, did they put in air conditioning? No.

They got new everything else--new roof, new appliances, carpeting, floors, even new windows with built-in vents that look really neat.

Funny you all are talking about air conditioners. Ours broke. The fan runs, the compressor doesn't. It's the compressor that cools the air. I had complained about it on Friday; TC assured me it was working. I complained again on Saturday. Again told it was working. Complained again early yesterday...and he finally conceded that yes, it was "rather warm" in the house == 80 degrees -- and opened the windows, put fans in. Ahhhh.... Of course it was 80 degrees outside as well, so it wasn't so cool as it was at least air circulating. Whatever. Felt much better.

We had dueling doctor appointments today --first, Tom Cat, then me, his 20 miles away in one direction; returned home, picked me up, 45 miles in the other direction to my doctor. A stop at Walmart where I got my hair cut, then home. Fans running now; I'll be calling the air conditioner guy tomorrow. Going to be relatively warm all week, so I hope he gets here quick.

Weather guy is jabbering on as I type this...just said, "...expect warm and sticky". I don't do well in warm and sticky. Ugh.

Good luck with the air conditioning. I was always nuts when ours was not working. Amazing, isn't it, how the temperature makes all the difference in how life goes for us.

No airconditioning needed here. It was 54 today. The weather folk said we were the coldest city in the country today. Yea us!

I actually turned the heat on to take the chill off, Vicky. The rain is not helping. I was planning on planting today.
