That's a thought, SuzE-Q. I'm pretty sure cats miss other cats when they've been living together. I've heard quite a few accounts that show that they do.

You didn't get them at the same time, did you, Howie?

Mr. Eat and Sleep strikes again!

No, I got Seven from a farm girl friend of my sister. Seven's mom was a feral cat, and this lady found the kittens, and my sister got one for me. Eventually, they caught the mama cat, and had her spayed, then released back on the farm.

Sam came from right here. I was working on Pinky, and a little girl came by and asked me if I wanted a kitten. I looked it over and said "sure". I locked up the house, and took Sam to the vet to be tested for any disease. She was clean, got her first round of shots, and HOME we came.

Sounds as if Sam came along after Seven? And yet Sam seems to have been the one to take the initiative in various exploits, if I can use that word for Sam's activities....

Seven must have had a very laid-back, accommodating personality.

            Hi Peg!

Sam was the outdoor girl. Not that I kept her outside, but she loved being outdoors and hunting. So after eating in the morning, she was ready to go out, and would spend the day outside. Seven always just wanted to stay in with me.

Sam would hunt all day, and would bring all sorts of trophies home, and put them on the front steps for me to see, and I would make a big deal over it, and praise, and you could see the pride it gave her.

Over the years, I was presented mice, moles, shrews, birds, and even saw her snatch a bird out of the air one time. But I was able to get there in time to save the bird, and it lived.

All the creatures "shock out" as I call it. They are never bitten or bleeding, but go into shock from being caught. Nature's way of making dying easier for them.

But one night, Sam didn't come back to the door until after 11pm. When she came in, I said, "Well, I hope you had a good time, because that's your last time going out".

It took about a week for her to get used to staying in, and that staying in had benefits. Being spoiled by me!

She is stretched out across my lap right now, and has been for awhile. Keeping her in really changed her personality completely. She's my lap cat now. If you want a sweet, loving, lap cat, I would recommend always keeping them indoors, and spoil them rotten, pretty simple.

Here I am waiting on the dealership to call and say the car is ready. Then I have to call my sister and see if she can take me to the bank, then to get the car, plus I'm going to have to borrow some money from her just to be able to eat this month.

I had a cup of brewed coffee from yesterday, so it was a little thin, but I have the jitters already, just waiting on the car. If it's not ready today like they said, I may just crack! And if they do call, will it be in time for my sister to get me there before they close?

I didn't sleep last night, so it seems like a long day, and it's just past noon.

Sorry to spill my troubles, but who else can I tell. Sam leaves the room if I even start to talk about it.

              Everyone have a great Friday!

Well, I got tired of waiting on the body shop to call, so I just called. The car will not be ready until Wednesday. I have no coffee for in the morning, and there's nothing I can do about it.

Where is everyone today? Have I scared everyone away?

I'm sorry for your troubles, Howie. Some of us do have a life that includes other things than this message board though.

Howie, it's hard to find the right words for someone who has just lost a dear pet. I think some people are struggling to find something to say that will help you in this situation but at a time like this we all know that there's not much anyone can do.

Vicky, I have a very very busy life aside from this message board. I decided a long time ago that I wouldn't go in for volunteer work the way many people in my situation do but I would do what I can for people with the same disorder I'm stuck with, and this board was one way of doing that.

I'm on a couple of other message boards but this one here does get my main attention during the time I have for message boards, and I almost always try to make a bit of time for message boards. Some times, particularly around the first of the month, tend to be really busy for me, and lately there have been a lot of problems taking up my time.

I apologize for not being here much lately.

Hi Howie! I am here and glad to be with you.

I just came in from planting some geraniums and something else that I liked but do not know the name of. It looks like little petunias but isn't. They mound about 8" across.

Anyway, I was out in the heat and humidity. Over did it. On the couch now. My phone has internet. TG.

                      Here's some chocolate,

Well, I thought about that, but please know I appreciate everyone's feelings about Seven passing, but there's nothing else to be said. I still have Sam, so maybe it's me that needs the sympathy!

My dear sister is on her way down here right now, to take me to the bank and store, so I WILL have coffee, and may start drinking it as soon as I get home, and just stay up all night! Why not?

I shouldn't need anything else until I FINALLY get my car back. And then I'll be broke, and can't afford TO go anywhere. Like goes on, so cheer up gang!

I'm glad your sister is coming to rescue you, Howie. I'm glad your day is looking up.

Come back w a report, please.

                            Your sister to the rescue!

No coffee is a bummer. What's your favorite brand and how do you brew it?

I'm back and sipping my coffee....ahhhh. Everything is right with the world.

BBS, I like any brand of Columbian coffee. I think what I got is just the Food Lion brand. At this point, any coffee would do. I was starting to get the no coffee headache.

I went in the bank, and got the teller to write down how much I have in checking. Even after I take out the $500 for the body shop, I'll be fine for the rest of the month, AND I'll have my car again!

                              Anyone care for some coffee?

                                Three cheers for Howie's sister!

Good to know Sam doesn't mind having to cut down on her prowling. She can brighten the corner where she is.
