It's a Friday, and this board tends to be very quiet on Fridays--and weekends. Maybe people are enjoying the spring weather.
Leaves on the trees are nice to see. Rhododendrons in bloom are even nicer.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Well, I had a nail appointment, and I had to go to K-Mart and pick up a prescription, then to Costco and pick up a prescription, then to grocery store for a few things. I came home and unloaded the car, then ran to Panera and got something to eat for tonight.
Howie, so glad you got your coffee. Big Sisters are nice to have. I can say that because I am one.
My allergies are acting up in the house, but when I go out I seem to get fine. What gives? It is driving me nuts!Virginia

There must be something in your house that is triggering your allergies.
Some people are just the opposite. I've known people who keep all their windows shut in the summer months because they're allergic to pollen outside.
I notice that after I've vacuumed I'm less hoarse and my nose is better. It's so noticeable that I'm wondering if it's a dust allergy I have.
I've also known people who vacuum every day because of allergies. I'm not one of those people but with severe enough allergies I probably would be.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

I used to try to vacuum once a week without fail. But lately I've been vacuuming when the mood strikes me, which is when it seems like a while since I did any vacuuming. If I don't go out much, I'm not tracking in that much.
I try to pick up things as I drop them or as I see them on the carpeting. It's called Low-tech Faux Vacuuming As You Go, or LTFVAYG. Eliminate plugs, outlets and cords! Stop hauling heavy vacuum cleaners around!
I probably vacuum about once every couple of weeks.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

Just catching up here. So sorry to hear about Seven, Howie. She was a wonderful companion for you and you were a great cat daddy for her. She will be missed.
We had our son and his family here over the holiday weekend. Our little grandson, Everett, has grown and changed so much since we last saw him. He is 11 months old already and just adorable.
Just one day after they left, our daughter and Tula arrived. They stayed almost a week. Tula has also grown so much and is a real character. Her hair is all curls, she's into everything and she's starting to talk. She really enjoyed watching the birds bathing in the fountain.
Needless to say, I've been in recovery mode this week!
Here's a couple of pics.

So, so cute Nuthatch! Thanks for posting the pictures. Tula talking already - seems impossible - after all she was just born a couple of months ago.
Time goes by so quickly. I can understand why you have been in recovery mode. But they both are still just little sweethearts.
Agate, love your definition of how often to vacuum. I guess I need to adopt that. I try to vacuum very thoroughly once a week, but just can't figure out what is causing me all the allergy problems. Sometime I wonder if it is coming from the air conditioning.
Howie, bet you drank enough coffee to stay up all night again tonight. If you do, love around on Sam.
As for me I am about done in and think I will go to bed.Virginia

Curly hair? Oh lucky girl!
Such alert and healthy looking younguns, ready to conquer the world!
Virginia, I think I've heard of air conditioning causing allergy problems even though many people get air conditioning to help with their allergies, and it does help.
Something about the air conditioning situation here:

I did drink almost a whole pot of coffee last night, then went to bed early. You would think there's something wrong with my brain.
But it sure is nice to have some coffee this morning.
Don't let them say she sat her day away!

I ALMOST forgot to pay my car insurance, but called and talked to the new owner. I've never met her before, but she seemed really nice, and she asked me to stop in sometime. I told her I would bring Pinky by when I do.

We've always only kept cats in. It seems that once they're spayed or neutered, they're less likely to roam, anyway. We did adopt a feral cat, once. Took TC almost 9 months to get her tame enough to get even close enough to touch her; another month before he felt brave enough to grab her. After some snarling and hissing she settled down in his arms...long enough to be taken to the vet to be spayed. We brought her home and let her loose again, knowing that we would have to re-capture her 10 days later to have her stitches removed, and worried about her while she was outside. But she came every day for food, came closer and closer...and 10 days later we just picked her up and took her to the vet without much drama. When we came home we brought her into the house and held our breath, thinking that she would shred the place apart, looking for a way out.
Instead, she explored the perimeter of every room, examining each piece of furniture in her path, and at the end, jumped up on the rocking chair (where there was a cushion), curled up..and went to sleep! Molly never went out of the house again, and as Howie suggested, became a loving, gentle, lap cat. But only for us! When strangers came, she'd disappear under the freezer, not to come out until they were gone. We'd go away on weekends, have friends come in to feed her..and the only way they knew we even had a cat was the litter box would need cleaning!
So yes, spoiling them rotten...and understanding cat behavior...makes for happier and more loving cats. Our three remaining are all affectionate, relatively well-behaved, have no interest in outside, although the two toms came in from the cold..literally...adopted in winter....I am not a doctor nor medical professional, and don't pretend to be one, here... :o

Agate, thanks for the article about allergies. I have long known that I would like to take up my carpet and put down hardwood or nice Pergo, however financially that is not much of a possibility.
I know there are things I could do however all of them cost so much that it is just kind of out of the question. I do use the very good filters that I get from Home Depot and change them right on time. All my furniture is the covered kind. I do not have any leather or anything like that.
This seems to come and go with me. I am still kind of bad today, stuffed up, itchy eyes and nose and just a feeling of not feeling well. I had wanted to start a book, but my eyes are itching and burning so much that I think it would be uncomfortable to read very much.Virginia
