I went, I'm back, and most important of all, I'm safe.

It went up from when I posted to 96. But it looks like a good storm is going to cut loose. And it's almost dark, and rain and dark, I wouldn't even consider going anywhere.

I've done nighttime driving, and rain driving maybe 2 times each since I bought the car.

Now I need to decide what I'm eating today. Sam, get us the Whisker Lickin's.

No food - only beer! Poor Howie!

I agree about Sean Connelly being the only James Bond!

Exciting things going on here today. It was very, very hot (Howie sent me his weather), but since I was going to meet one brother and his wife for dinner at five I left a little early because it is close to Belk's and I needed something. I had turned the TV on about 2:15 to see my young nephew play in a very important PGA tournament. I knew he had been close to winning the past 4 days. They had the US Open on from Europe so I left. When I met my brother he was nearly in tears, he said my nephew had just won. He has won many golf tournaments but this was his first PGA, and this was his rookie year. He has struggled with social anxiety and depression, since getting a bad concussion a couple of years ago. But he was laid back this week and he pulled it off. When not anxious, he is an excellent golfer. His parents were there and when they went to hug him, I was pretty sure I saw tears in my brother's eyes. They aired it here later, so I did see the last few holes. Face Book and social media is pretty much going wild. I have never seen so many congratulations to anyone. I am very happy for all of them. It was nice to watch it without having to have a heart attack, because I already knew he had won a couple of hours earlier.

A PGA is a great achievement. I hope he goes far with it!

My dad was a golf nut. He was asked to be the golf pro at the course he used a lot, but he said he couldn't do the step down in money that they offered him compared to what he made with his job.

I went with him once to just play 9 holes, and a few times, I could outdrive him. But once I got on the green, he could kill me putting. But it was fun.

Congratulations to your brother's family and the golfing nephew, Virginia!

What did you have for dinner and what does Belk's sell?

Edited to add: Hi Peg, I hope you see meaningful improvement. Maybe it takes awhile.

            Glad you are home, Howie.

Peg, does your Neuro have someone lined up to take over his patients, or are you on your own to find another one?

Congratulations, Virginia! What a wonderful accomplishment, made moreso by what it must have taken to overcome his challenges to do it, let alone how momentous a victory it is all on its own.

I went and found a youtube clip of a sports story of the event, and it sounds like it was quite a nail biter.

How exciting for you and your family!

Congrats Virginia, you must be very proud. Lots of money in sports but few make it big. Hope he has continued success!

Every time I think of Sean Connery I think of that movie "Rising Sun". My brother's close high school friend, Cary Tagawa, was in that movie with him.
Cary has been in many movies and TV series over the years, including "Star Trek, The Next Generation", the series "Nash Bridges", but his big early break was the movie, "The Little Emperor".
Here is a bio about Cary. Yes, I went to high school with him and he often was at our house, usually practicing for a school play. He was into acting way back then!
Last I heard he lives in Hawaii.
I'm not a big movie watcher, but I remember seeing Rising Sun and was so embarrassed to see Cary in a scene in that movie, eating food off a naked woman's body!

Virginia ~ Is your nephew Jordan Spieth, who won the British Open today? Jim watched just about every second of that tournament. Congratulations! If not Jordan, then I can't think of another golf tournament in Europe this weekend.

No Rose, he was not in the US Open. He played in a PGA tournament in Alabama. Jordan is a friend of his, they grew up playing tournaments together and at the age of 16 they were focused in a golfing magazine as "The Swings of the Future". Still it was a really big win for my nephew. His name is Grayson Murray and he was playing in the Barbasol Tournament in case Jim wants to look him up. There is a very nice interview with him on pgatour.com. Of course, we are very happy about Grayson winning the money, but I think the thing for most of us in the family is the fact that he now has his PGA card for two more years after this year. That is really big. It takes some of the anxiety out of the next two years. Until this win, he was on what is called the bubble of keeping his PGA card. Tell Jim to look up the Barbasol or to google Grayson Murray.

Even I had had a number of congratulations last night - so it was exciting for all of us. Both his parents were there which made it even more special. My brother called me as he and his wife were driving home from Alabama. My sister-in-law in Georgia - my deceased husband's sister knew it before I did and her post in large bold type was the first thing I saw on FB. Of course, my brother is getting calls and text from all over. He and his wife (mostly him) have driven or flown with my nephew all over the country playing in tournaments since he was 7 years old. They have given up everything to help him get to this point. As parents they have no regrets about that. Both his older Sister and Brother support him.

Ann, Belk's is a department store and sells everything from makeup, jewelry, lots of clothes, shoes, etc. They even have a home floor where they sell bedding and kitchenware as well as fine china. I went to get some bedroom slippers. That is all I wear in the house. I got a gift card on my birthday and I didn't use it because I couldn't find anyone to help me. The were having a sale and I didn't realize it when I went there. It is 3 stories and I have only been on first floor for past few years due to walking. That is where the bedroom shoes are, the makeup and the jewelry.

By the way, I had shrimp and grits for dinner. Sooooo good!!!

Peg, I am still hoping that you will now or with the next infusion see some real improvement. I hope you get a really good new Neuro.

I did not find out until the late news last night that it was 102 degrees here yesterday. We beat you Howie! If I had known I would not have been out. I just knew it was very, very hot, but I went from A/C to A/C and really wasn't out in it much. We had a storm which I drove home in and that cooled things off.

Peg, what's up with neuro? You're gonna have to follow doc to Cali. But really, I was sorry to hear this. Especially starting a new treatment. I hope you find another doc to your liking.

Your neuro is moving away just as you're starting this new drug? This seems too bad. I hope at least someone he knows and trusts will be taking over his patients--and that person will be accessible for you.

Doctors lately seem to be doing quite a lot of hopping around from one part of the country to another and from one address to another within a community. No mobility impairment there, I guess.

Maybe their office has to be located in the same place for over a year to sue them!

I just finished cooking my new pasta dish. 1 hour and 20 minutes. It only got down to 80 last night, so it must have been about that in the kitchen. But it's made, and I'll get a bath when I stop sweating.

The pan is in the sink where I cooked the meat, but the counters are clean, and only the big pot of pasta on the stove.

I'm going to bed early, and getting up early lately. To escape this heat I guess. It just TOO hot right now. In the 90's until it rains. Maybe Sam can do her rain dance. HEY SAM.........

So Howie, eat so you can tell us how it is!

Agate, in addition to hopping around and moving, Doctors are also retiring and giving up the practice of medicine at an alarming rate.
