OT August Chit Chat

Hi, Lorraine (Whisper)!

(She snuck in and probably will continue silently going her way but maybe this time she'll say something if I'm not scaring her away.)

I'm not easily frightened away!!! LOL I just finished reading all 14 pages...my eyes are falling out. I lurk here now and then, but with my son/DIL and 2 grandchildren STILL living with us,(4years now) I don't often get a chance to read and converse as I'd like. Our son graduated from university in June with a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (we're so very proud). Our DIL graduated, also in June from Massage Therapy Course! Again, we're very proud!!! The grandkids are growing like weeds (Gabrielle is 7, William 5 and Rosalyn 1.5) They keep me going. I have been doing fairly well, physically. I owe it all to the grandkids. I push myself more than I ever would have. I am not anywhere near 100%, nor do I ever expect to be, but I am not in the wheelchair as much nor the walker. And sometimes, I sneak around without a cane if I have a shopping cart to lean on. I would like to thank each and every one of you on here for being here. It's a safe haven for a lot of people and even though I don't post much, I think of you all quite often. I am writing a book, been writing some poetry...nothing fit to share at the moment...but maybe one day!!! Thanks again for all of you!

Mr. Pasta is at it again. Penne this time, and all turkey. Plus I made a fresh bowl of coleslaw. The pasta will simmer a few hours, and then CHOW TIME!

Nice to hear from you, Lorraine! It does sound as if you're having a busy time, to put it mildly.

Writing a book? Inquiring minds would love to know more about that. A story? A nonfiction book?

Congratulations to your son and DIL on their graduations--quite an achievement!

:) My doctor called and wanted me to come in to go over my blood work. It is feel like 108 degrees and I had to park in the full sun. When I got back in the van it must have been 150 or more. It actually made it hard to breathe.

A wasted visit as my cholesterol is always a little high and I do not want to take anything for it. Next time he told me he would call me the results.

It took 7 tries for the van to start. The fuel pump they put in is either bad or something needs adjusting. I stopped by the mechanics but the man who does that is off today. I will try to take it to him tomorrow. Also the AC needs some gas and I need new wipers.

It is nice to be home and in the AC and comfortable again. Hi Lorraine. Jeanie:)

I fail to see why doctors can't bend their policies a bit when it's someone with MS who might also be able to play the age card. Extreme heat isn't just very uncomfortable for us--it's downright dangerous to be out in it.

If a doctor hasn't had a look at you in quite a while, maybe that real-life visit is needed but I wonder sometimes why visits that are just to go over test results can't be postponed if the hot weather is really bad.

Agate, the answer to why doctors do the way they do? MONEY! They are interested only in money. Not caring about anything for the patient, but cash the patients check.

I've seen ONE good doctor who truly cared about others. He is the doctor who sent me for an MRI that got my MS Dx. He could have practiced anyplace he wanted, but he chose this small town and made a real impact on people.

Doctor Dobbins. A good man, and doctor.

Hi Whisper, so glad to see you. Would be nice to hear more about the book you are writing. Nice to have the kids all educated and doing well I am sure.

Jeanie, your day does not sound like a fun one. I hope tomorrow is better for you. That is really a lot of heat you were out in. It does make it hard to breath sometime.

Howie, hope your pasta dish turns out as good as the others have. Unless, of course, Sam eats it all.

I went to the Doctor today - well actually the NP. Even he suggested that in six months I see the Doctor since this is my Doctor of record as far as a Neurologist is concerned. This Doctor has never set eyes on me. This NP is one of those who believes that, with age, MS burns itself out. I do not believe that. If it did I would be getting better. So I have a real problem. I may have to beg for my Rebif.

Virginia, this time I used only turkey in the pasta. When I ate dinner, I moved a nice amount out of the pasta, and left it on the plate, and set it on the floor.

When I eat, I never see Sam until I have just a few bites left, and here she comes strolling in the room to sit there and stare at me. How she knows I'm almost done I don't know. Cats!

I'm familiar with that stare, but cats of mine started up with it as soon as the food came out of the refrigerator or wherever. Do their mothers teach them how to stare meaningfully while looking deserving, hungry and patient and somewhat pitiful? It really works.

Cats,, we found 4 blonde kittens,a while ago,, all sisters,,,, cute little kittens,, well we are down to 2 kittens,, Nora took one home , and some thing happen to another,, she's gone,, so we have Josey,, and Wildcat,, because she was hissing at us,, now they are so friendly and my husband a anti cat person,, plays with them,, feeds them,,Sam protects them,, they sleep with her,,

Especially when you can see just a little of the white of their eyes....sniff....it just breaks your heart, and you give in.

So cute Peg - I am talking about Sam of course. She is taking care of the little kittens. Good little dog!
