BBS, glad to hear you are making a comeback from your nightmare experience. You'll soon be back to your normal.
I went out in heat so hot I could hardly believe it. I didn't realize it was that hot. I think it was in the 90s, but seemed like a 100 or more. I wanted a container for a live plant to go on my coffee table, so I went to a garden shop that sells decorative ones. I found a blue and white. Now I have to get it to the florist that is going to put some live greenery in it. Hopefully will get around to that next week. Then I went to hardware store to get some pads for the bottom to keep it from scratching anything. Then I went to the grocery store where I ran into an old friend. She is getting married in October. She was widowed a few years ago. So stood on feet while she and I talked awhile. Then I came home and put groceries away and went to Panera and got a cup of soup and a Greek salad. Finally, home and into slippers. Felt so good to get in A/C and out of shoes.
Wonder what kind of plant you got for the coffee table?
I always had a coffee table--until MS came along. Several years after the MS dx, I gave up on coffee tables. I tripped and fell over it more than once. A coffee table is handy for people to set things down on as they sit on a sofa or whatever. Around here they make do with a card table. It's harder to trip over it.
Yesterday and today I added an extra 4 mg Tizanidine before swim yesterday and surf today it helped a lot, and only slightly woozy from it. But,not having to drive, it's okay. It puts me from16mg spread across the day to 20mg.
DH took me to the ocean today and my crew helped keep an eye on me in the water, carried my board and strapped on my leash!
There were tstorms hanging off the coast creating that special silvery lighting on the water. There was distant rumbling, a few distant flashes.
The water wS warm, 83-84, and zero wind so that the ne see ums were biting badly. Wind keeps them at bay. The waves were knee highs and occasionally thigh high. The water was glassy, it was hypnotizing.
I almost didn't go, as I was feeling so badly yesterday and this morning with muscle tightening and swallowing problems. But we were celebrating one's birthday, so I wanted to be there for support.
Right off the bat, I caught several very fun, no anxiety rides. I love that feeling, it's addictive. After 20 minutes I paddled in and sat on the wheelchair for the toasting and eating . That ten minutes calmed me down, also putting on high sox helped dampen the neuropathy feedback.
So, I paddled out for some more waves. Eventually, I stopped when the warning signs of torso tightening and weaker right thigh told me to get out while I could.
But not before witnessing a spinner shark leap out of the water three times in a row! Each one we all shouted out "Whoa!" It always is magnificent and exciting to see!
These surf sessions rescue my mental health. My life has become so desperate that these seshes have been lifesavers.
BBS, sounds like a wonderful morning for you. It all sounds like such fun and so beautiful. Any kind of shark would scare me to death. The guys you surf with are true pals as is your DH.
If you don't think you're taking enough steps in a day, you might want a pedometer. I find that it prompts me to try to get more steps in on days when the readings are still low and the day is passing.
I wish I could recommend a brand. Offhand I'd say that simpler is better. I'd avoid pedometers that keep track of other things like your stride or your calories burned--just because it's being expected to do so much that it's probably more likely to have something go wrong with the way it works.
There was some discussion of pedometers here in the last few months. I know that a FitBit has been really popular but it's pricey and it involves a smartphone. It's doing much more than counting steps. They start at around $100, I think.
I just wanted something simple that counts my steps and doesn't mind being dropped often. I've had two of them now and they seem to work pretty well.
That's great Agate, more than I do I'm quite sure.
BBS, swimming would add up to walking like Agate does. But swimming AND walking, we would have to get you a Super Woman outfit, or take the one Agate wears.
