I'm so sorry about your nephew, Virginia. If it's too unsettling for him to be in these tournaments, he'd probably be happier without them, but if he can overcome the problem, I hope he'll continue. He's had some great achievements already.Originally posted by Virginia View Post...
Well, Grayson kind of lost it today. He was doing so well, but today was the last day of the tournament and he went from 3rd or 4th place yesterday down to 25th today. But that's alright. It is just taking him a little longer since he suffers from the "social anxiety" when he is out there. He had one of the last tee times and I was sorry to see that. Maybe (I hope) with time it will get better for him. He still made some money and if he wishes he can go on to the next tournament which I think is 3 weeks away in Chicago. It is my understanding that he will be coming home for two weeks until time to go there.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. I have Google Chrome, and it may be seeing that as a source. If I were to guess, it was used in the news. I have UFO and Technology saved as the news I want to see. He does see a Doctor for the "social anxiety" problem and he is on medication. It doesn't always work and there are times that it has to be tweaked. He has the same kind of anxiety that many entertainers have. Some have had to cancel their shows because they suffered from this so bad while on stage. Yet most go on. I am hoping that with age and more help he will be able to conquer it. He doesn't want to do anything else and never has.
Rose, I think in spite of how far down he came today I think he is high enough in the rankings that he will not be too hurt overall. Moneywise he has done TREMENDOUS for 2017 season. And then on top of what I look up he has many, many $$$$s from his sponsors. His main one is Callaway.
The one thing that I think it definitely knock him out of is "Rookie of the Year'. He was being considered for that, but I don't think he will be after today, because they had some other rookies that have done really well. Remember this is Grayson's rookie year - his first on the PGA tour.
I appreciate all of you rooting for him and I plan to tell him.Virginia

I was minding my own business, and the little devil that sits on my shoulder, whispered in my ear..."You are out of beer".
"I know that, but it's hot outside, and it's late in the day, and it would be crowded with all the hard working people just getting off from work. Plus today is restocking day, and everyone shops today to get fresh items, and that will make it even more crowded! You would have to be crazy to go today" I told him.
I got back just a while ago.

Oh yes, I got beer. And that was really all I was going after, but it was all I could do to carry all that I DID buy on my little shopping spree. But I shouldn't have to go anywhere the rest of the week. Cheers!

Finally there's an end to the very hot spell here as temperatures are expected to reach only 87' here today. I like that better than the 97' and above we've been having.
But there are alerts about smoke in the air, and when I went out with the trash yesterday the smoke was so bad my eyes were watering and I could see it in a cloud over everything. It's from the nearby wildfires.
I'm glad it's not a hurricane.

Where? I can't see it for all the smoke, put that cigar out!
Actually, it looks like my home town as viewed from Mill Mountain that had a cool little zoo right at the top. That looks like it would be hard to breathe without choking.
Where I am now, it's in clean air and forest lands, and rednecks. Hey, it would be heaven without them, and I'm not ready for that yet. As soon as Sam passes away, then I'll be ready to go!

Cat, I like the same season of the year that you do.
Howie, no fair, even if Sam goes (God forbid) you are not supposed to go before we do here.
Agate, I think that would be very bad to be out in. Very heavy smoke or smog or whatever it is. If a person who is not real well stays out too long it could have a bad effect on them.Virginia

Virginia, there have been alerts telling people not to be out in this air.
Winter and summer tend to be too extreme and dramatic for my taste. My body says No to extreme heat or cold too.SPMS diagnosed 1980. Avonex 2001-2004. Copaxone 2006-2009. Glatopa (glatiramer acetate = Copaxone) 12/20 - 3/19/24.

I've yet to have any problem with cold, and MS. Actually, I like cold weather, and it has to get really cold before I wear a coat. It's the heat that I have a problem with. I've been a shut-in all Summer, but it rained all day today, and tomorrow, cooler weather is here to stay. The first thing on my mind....Pinky."Given the millions of billions of Earth-like planets, life elsewhere in the Universe without a doubt, does exist."

The sky in my area looks similar to Agate's. I went outside earlier today to close my patio umbrella and got some bits of ash in my eyes. The wildfires are nowhere near where I live, but the atmosphere is affected. I'm hoping the weather predictions for rain come true.
I don't have asthma, but I have friends that do.Jendie

Wow, that smoke looks bad! There are so many wildfires across the US right now. I saw a satelite photo that showed all the smoke stretching across the US, with a very large area of smoke covering the middle of the country. I read that Montana alone has 28 wildfires going right now. My daughter and family are vacationing in Idaho this week. She called and said it's really smokey there, although they are far away from any fires.
It's been hot, hot, hot here too! Even got up to 117 degrees one day last week! Then it went down to 112, then a cool consistent 105 for a few days. Still hovering near 100.
Birds are hanging out under parked cars and on my covered front patio, trying to stay cool with beaks wide open like panting dogs! Even the hummingbirds. The birdbaths and my fountain are very busy places. Hummingbirds are trying to chase all the other birds away! It's like watching chihuahuas going after great danes! They even fight big, black bumblebees! Very territorial little buggers! Ive seen them being aggressive about their feeders before, but not about water! We have no hummingbird feeders, but planted plants for hummingbirds instead. Now we have lots of hummingbirds around.
Speaking of hot, thirsty animals, Monday night, just after midnight, I was awakened by a banging noise. I thought it was the cat on the window sill next to my bed, but it wasn't. It was a young buck (deer) just outside, who was trying to get water out of the bottom of the bucket we put out for the deer to drink. Because we'd had company for the holiday weekend, hubby had forgotten to refill the bucket. Guess the water level was down, so when the buck stuck his head in, his antlers got caught and knocked the bucket over. The buck was banging the bucket with his hoof as if to let us know he needed water. DH was out refilling the bucket at 12:15 a.m.! There was a whole family of deer out there, including a young spotted fawn!
Global warming . . . higher temps, stronger storms, droughts, floods, rising sea levels . . . can't grow food in droughts or floods . . . using air conditioning more . . . more pollution = more global warming. Wait until the record snowfalls come! It's a vicious cycle, but our priority is jobs . . . money$$$! We're in trouble.
Those in the path of the pending hurricane, BE SAFE!Last edited by nuthatch; 09-06-2017, 08:55 PM.
