Mark - Glad to hear that Penny is doing better. It's a quiet day for me, too, as I'm really tired as I haven't been sleeping well.

      Hello all,
Think this be short. I've been in terrible pain. Yesterday had seizure followed by sudden tiredness which means stroke. That was mid afternoon, headed for bed and slept til this a.m. and I'm still very tired/in pain/fibro not letting up. Thankfully SO getting supper. Things been in turmoil here w/SO, not helping. Scanned posts but don't remember except cold hands which I can relate to; mine always like ice. "Turmoil" has had me losing 10 lbs so trying to eat as much as possible, drinking ensure. Getting one of my fave meals tonight, filapilos. Can't wait. Kitty had one helping, begging for second. BTW, Congrats Mark on the coming of 2nd grandbaby!!! Much excitement in both households!!! Fantastic news. Take care all, hoping your pain at minimum; sleep well tonight. hugs (gentle) to all.........kat (meow)

Not much from my side as I have been sleeping most of the past three days away. Kat sorry to hear about the increased pain and the seizures. Take care of yourself the best that you can. I know with sleeping so much this past three days I haven't eaten enough or drank enough water. It is difficult to keep up with our health when we aren't able to do much. I feel like I will be up today so I hope to eat well and get back on track. Yes it is exciting news for both families and it will be fun to see how Emery deals with all the changes coming up. At least she has two sets of grandparents to spoil her any time she is feeling left out:).

Kat - Sorry to hear about the increasing pain and seizures.

Mark - glad to see you're getting some sleep. Can you send some my way? For some reason, I haven't been sleeping well for the past week or so.

As for me, I got some disconcerting news this week. In preparation for the impending surgery on my left arm, I decided to revisit my doctor and have them look at a joint on my right hand that's been bugging me for years. She sent me to a hand specialist thinking I'd just need a cortisone shot in the joint. He took an x-ray and found another bone tumor right where I have a lot of pain. So now, I'm in the waiting game of more tests.

newcervie, if I could send some sleep your way I have some extra to let you have. Sorry to hear about the new tumor in your right hand. I hope they can remove it without much trouble and that it isn't cancerous.

I have been awake for a long time now so I hope to get to sleep soon and it would be great to get back to sleeping at night and being up everyday like I did two years ago for eight weeks. Whatever the magic formula was I wish I could get it back as it made me feel so much better despite the pain. Sleeping so much like this week without food or drink made today tough but I am trying hard to sleep tonight. Darrin came over and we cut off four poles to use for the legs of the work bench he wants to have. He will be over tomorrow with the counter tops we are going to use for the top and shelf. He wants to get wheels for the bench which I have on mine as it makes it easy to move around for different projects. Today was a decent day despite not feeling too good. I hope everyone is having a good day.

Despite not sleeping last night or all day I had a good day today. The kids and Emery came over for a dinner of pork cutlets, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, and corn. Then I helped Darrin work on his shop table. We are doing the work here in my shop and dismantling it so he can take it home and put it together. He is reusing old counter tops and yard post for the bench and it will be a nice solid one. Tyrel reloaded the operating system on their computer that had been wiped out with a virus. I got to sleep for a couple hours in bed but I was snoring too bad and got booted down to my chair:ambivalence:. I hope everyone had a good day and are busy getting needed sleep.

Quiet in the room, I thought with a lost day Yesterday I would come here and read a post or two but I see I was the last and first in the room. Not much happening today other than going to the doctor for my weekly injection then went to the license branch for my handicap placard. Tyrel came home and he goes Tuesday for his swearing in but he may have to wait for a field he wants and is qualified for to open up before he ships out to boot camp.

I hope everyone is doing better than usual and can stop in to say hi. I may have to start an oldie part of this room that Frost started. Whenever the room was slow he would saunter up to the bar and order for the evening inviting all to join him with their idea of a wonderful fun evening. It kind of opened things up and we learned a lot about each other in the process. We have been at this long enough that we know each other and most of the public life we want out there but there may be something new someone wants to start so I am open to suggestions.

I'm stopping by but won't be typing much. I had the MRI today for the hand. It was 1.5 hours with the arm/hand above the head. Despite the left arm (arm with the blood flow issues) being at my side for the entire exam, it still triggered the symptoms so I'm in a lot of pain tonight. I really should be doing the dishes and cleaning up but I think it's going to have to wait.

Mark - I saw your post in the chronic pain forum. I, too, am concerned about the future given I don't tolerate a lot of medications.

newcervie, yes we do have to wonder about the steps our gov't is taking regarding our choices of meds. Sorry to hear the MRI set of the pain in your left arm. Dishes and cleaning up can wait until you feel better.

I slept this morning and woke at noon so I had a decent day. I did some work on an small antique table taking it apart for now so I can restore it. Today I chiseled out the broken biscuit [a connecting piece] and fashioned a new one to put in it place. I got that done and glued the piece back together. I need to make a few hidden changes to make the piece more stable. I can't refinish it until the weather improves enough to do that work on the porch as the fumes are too much to do it in the house.

Mark - It is definitely getting very quite here on the forum. I hope it revives. I found the forum back in 2004 for another neuro issue and it was very nice connecting with others dealing with the same problems/pains/etc. I migrated to the spine area a few years later when my c-spine started acting up and they advised surgery. Haven't done that yet and will hold off until I absolutely need it.

I'm definitely paying the price tonight for the arm. It will be a fun day trying to stay awake at work. I usually take a walk at lunch time to get outside but I might need more than one walk today.

Newcervie, I hope you are doing okay at work, at bad night of pain and poor sleep make the work day tough. I am with you that I have worsening pain and symptoms but I will hold out on any [hopefully no] surgery until there is no alternative short of paralysis. You are making a wise choice to wait based on the research looking at those who have surgery and those that don't. Only severe cases do better with surgery dealing with pain and waiting 5 years. I hope we both are in the case of waiting gives us the best chance to improve. I really wonder that this site will survive as we don't seem to be picking up enough new people or enough returning people. If it doesn't I guess I will find one some day the same way I found this, google sites although I do know neurotalk has an active site. I haven't given up on this place yet but it does seem to be stagnate since the last couple of shut downs.

I have dozed off and on, mostly awake, as pain and my energy level is conspiring to keep me awake despite needing sleep. I hope to get a more substantial nap in this morning. It has been a rainy night and looks like it will be this morning too. The high today is suppose to get up to 67 and if it does it will be a warm day.

                          Hi
I don't think I have been on here since last fall. While my husband was in the hospital for over a month my computer decided to break,,actually break. The power plug came out of the machine! Since he is my computer guy I had to wait for him to get well & us to have the money so I just got my pc back this month.

I see you are still busy with projects Mark. Last time I was on you were still helping the kids work on their house I think.

I'm still in the same place with my spinal mess. I am however taking care of my mother in law again in our home....yeah great for the old back I know. We had major issues with the nursing home and brought her home. I am suppose to be getting help through a medicaid wavier a few days a week but as of yet that is just a bunch of hot air.

I hope to wonder around some of the other threads and catch up with folks later. Housework is calling....I'm still waiting on that robotic cleaning services we are suppose to have by now. LOL. It is 2012 folks need to stop making new toys & come up with the Rosie from the Jetsons!
I hate to see things have still not picked up around here since the last ''restart''

I finally got to sleep around 3:30 this morning and had to get back up at 6 AM so not much sleep . . . Basically, I think exhaustion finally overruled the pain so I could get to sleep.

Mark - Yes, I am waiting on surgery as long as possible. I'm just glad I didn't immediately follow the NS advice and have surgery 6 years ago. It took two years but I was able to get the situation settled down with the help with cortisone and acupuncture. Yes, the other site you mentioned is active.

Robotic house cleaning - that would be really nice!

Mrs Q, It is really good to see you are back up on the computer after fighting the computer problems. I hope Mr Q is doing better now that he is home although with him and your MIL it has to be a struggle for you. I know it is nice to have them home with you but it does make life for a spinie even more difficult. I am working on on final project for the kids as Darrin needed a work bench and they had the old kitchen counter tops to use. Between both sets of parents, the kids efforts, and hiring one handyman their house is in far better shape than when they bought it. Just in time because Megan is pregnant again, it would nice if they had a boy this time but that would put them one bedroom short. Tyrel decided college wasn't for him right now and he signs up for the Army on Tuesday. He will be going into the Special Forces [it the special intelligence field doesn't come open] school after boot camp so he will have his work cut out for him. It is a shame it cost so much or you could get a Roomba and at least have a robot clean your floors.

newcervie, Have you looked at the Roomba or any of the other floor cleaner robots? I hope my new thoracic problems calm back down in several months or a couple years like your spine did. Surgery isn't any fun even though the pain is nearly as bad.

Not much going on today as I didn't sleep except for 15 minutes at a time until I got disgusted and got up for the day. I paid a couple of bills and got some lunch along with doing a bit of work on the antique table. Nothing else other than a walk with Penny after work as it was 67 here today.
