Kat, I can hear the fear in you about the dementia and I can imagine how hard it is to deal with it not knowing what is real and what is just in your mind. I hope your doctor will let you try a new medication just to let you feel better about your life. It is hard enough for those of us that are shut in our houses most of the time to feel connected with life. Your dementia makes it even harder and any medication that helps would make it easier to live your life. I have you in my prayers.

I should be sleeping right now as I would like to go home today before the next storms come through but I am wondering about missing the day as it looks like I will sleep all day once I get to sleep. I got out and went to bookstore to look around and to find a new book to read. Not more going on right now other than mom talking about coming down to visit soon. I hope she can stay for a couple days as the kids and we really like having her down. It would be nice if she would move down but I don't see that happening.

I made it home a day later than I planned on. I got down before the another storms came threw and we were lucky to miss the worst part as our southern Indiana had 13 deaths from the storms. Like usually after sleeping all day Thursday I am awake when I feel like I need some sleep. Hopefully after I post this and start reading I will fall asleep. I hope everyone else made it through the storms and tornadoes like we did and I will keep everyone in my prayers.

Kat, no problem with the length of your post. Write as much as you need to as doing it helps keep your mind going. I hope you can gain more weight and I wish I could give you some of the weight I would like to lose. take care and I will keep you in my prayers.

        Kat-
There is a medication to help increase your appitie. I am not sure of the name but it helped my mother-in-law get back to a healthy weight & did not seem to have many side effects.
As far as something to help the hallucinations your doctor should be able to find something that will work of you. If I'm not mistaken trazadone is the one that worked for my mother-in-law. They all have sided effects but I'm sure they can find some that work for you. If your doctor can't help you find a new doctor because there is no reason for you to suffer with the stress of the hallucinations if you don't have to.
Thanks for your prayers Kat, your in ours too.

I really hope this is not a sign of how this spring is going to be tornado wise. It is so awful that something can cause such damage so quick, I can't imagine how it use to be before we had radar systems to know they were coming. We did not get any damage here but about 2 miles south several homes were damaged and lots of mobile homes turned over. Thankfully as far as I know no serious injury. Our power was out for a couple of hours, getting new flashlights & candles are now on my to do list.

Lee I hope your doctor visit went ok and you were able to find out why the doctor has an issue with you. Maybe it is their life that has them being that way and not acutally you? There are days my sister is in such a mood I feel bad for the folks who are going to have her has their RN that night.
Mark I'm glad you had a good visit with your Mom.

My Dad's surgery to remove the skin cancer went much longer than expected. He went in at 1pm and we did not get out of that office till after 6pm. It was just much deeper than the doctor thought, he said he got about 90% of it but it is so close to his eye it worries me. Sitting in the waiting room did a number on me so I have been useless the last few days so today is get caught up housework day....woohoo

I hope you all have a nice weekend with little pain.

thank heavens Mark, you are safe. I worried about you. there was so much damage up your way and I couldn't get all my BT friends off my mind. It was bad here, but mosty storms and the weather siren going off every few min. We had moved it back to the living room so we could hear it if it went off. Well, Ken got up every few min. and I took the rest of the night. I finally just lay back in my lounge and went to sleep. We were still getting alerts this morning. I pray everybody else that is in the line of the storm are safe.

Karen, I'm glad you did ok with your Dad, but I hope he does not have more problems since it went so deep. Ken and I go at least once a year, if one has the carcinoma it's every 6 months. Its easy to ignore those things and they go fast once they get started. I hope all of you will have a restful week-end.

Lee, hope your Drs. appointment went better than mine. My Dr. had taken ex-rays about 3 months ago and had not seen me since. I go once a month to pick up scripts.

Well, thursday I saw the Drs. assistant. She told me some disc had flattened and slide sideways, but they didn't look like they were moving. then on down a little lower I had one bulging, but it had not changed since the last MRI. Whoopee, welcome to the rest of my trashed back. DDD has taken its toll. then the biggie I didn't expect. She said the ex-rays showed I had some calcium built up in the Aorta. Not sure I said that right. I was more than depressed when I left there. I don't know if I will have anything done there or not. My body has about done itself in. Oh well, these things go with old age. Karen, I will post about the Scolisis in that forum. More proof that Scolisis causes pain!!

Poor Drs, they don't know nutten, do they? teehee Kat, you take care too. Everybody stay safe.

            love you bunches, Jo

Karen, I have to wonder about you giving a to housework. It had to be hard sitting in that waiting room for so long but I hope your dad doesn't have any more trouble with it especially as close to the eye as it is. Take care of your spine because if you get laid up then several people counting on you are out of luck. It is easy to get so wrapped up into their needs you forget your own.

Julia, We are safe here due to a small concrete storage area we have off the basement. It is as good as the storm shelters people pay 10K or more to put into their homes. I am getting it cleaned out more since I have used it for storage while the kids were here. Your spine keeps deteriorating with what you describe happening. Sorry to hear about the calcium build up but I do understand the idea behind why do anything about it at this point as we would only be adding years of pain.

Lee told me she was having computer trouble so we might not hear from her for a couple days. We had the kids and Emery over for a dinner of salad, hamburger/hotdog. Emery is looking so much like a little girl instead of a toddler. She had her hair pulled back in a ponytail and her body is changing from the pudgy girl to a lean little girl. Darrin was talking about work the day of the tornadoes and his plant was between where two hit so he was very fortunate. I asked Megan what they did at the nursing home and she said they had to get all the people out into the hall with blankets and pillows to cover them. A tornado hitting a nursing home would really be terrible although Southern Indiana had 14 killed so far. We had friends and family calling to see if we were hit but let them know it was just north or south of us and others were further east of us. I really enjoy storms and feeling the power of them but when people are hurt or killed by them it isn't any fun watching them those days.

Mark and MrsQ - glad to hear that you're both safe. I've seen the pictures on TV, it sounds scary. As for me, my nerves are reacting to any movement of the arm lately so the block I had a few weeks ago has worn off. And my daughter has decided to be very clingy lately which is definitely not helping the situation.

Did yall hear about the tornado hitting the town in AL that was so damaged last year ? I just really think if my house was hit 2x by a tornado I would just have to find a new home, with a storm shelter. I found myself wishing we had a hall in this house when the sirens were going off, our house is set up with one side being the great room and the other side being bedrooms.

What can I say Mark I just lovvveeeee doing housework lol

Weekends are pretty hard since I have no help & I'm still paying for the waiting rooms chairs. My mother was telling me I just need to go find a new doctor, she still doesn't get how many I have seen. If the doctors won't do anything but hand me some pills I have already tried why go? I'm sorry but if just seeing a doctor makes you feel better your pain is in your head. Sorry just got off the phone with them hearing about how I don't know anything about pain to wait till I'm 76. I just get sick of folks tellinig me about their pain, it doesn't stop them from doing what they want but their pain is worse than mine?? When did hurting become a dang contest?
Don't you hate it when everyone who has ever had a pulled muscle in their back tries to tell you how to deal with spinal pain?

                  Comment

Karen, I wish you had a place in the house when bad weather hits as I know having our room we can use as a storm room is comforting even though it hasn't been bad enough to use yet. Someone has to like housework so it might as well be you. Wouldn't it make our lives easier if our families understood our spinal issues and the pain we deal with better. It would be nice to have good doctors that understood our situation and could help but there aren't that many knowledgeable about pain and spine troubles. I hope having the nurse in today helps you rest up and get your pain back under control.

newcervie, sorry to hear the block has stopped working now. I can imagine how a clinging daughter makes it worse for you as my daughter and her clinging daughter were here Saturday. I worry about that situation as my daughter is pregnant and I worry about how my granddaughter will adjust sharing her mom when she gets upset if dad is taking her too far away from mom. The good thing cervie is that outgrow their phases you just have to worry if you can survive until then.

The storms were terrible throughout Southern Indiana and places south. My wife and I have a safe room if we ever need to use it. It is all concrete and buried in the ground. It has concrete walls, floor, and ceiling with the walls just 3' apart and there is no structure over the ceiling. It sets just off the basement just off the porch so it is as safe as the storm rooms people are buying to put in their homes. Yesterday was a day of sleep as I was catching up from my trip. I hope I can get back on a more regular schedule. I hope everyone else is safe after the storm front went through as you never know when or where tornadoes are going to hit. Our news just reported that a toddler found in some wreckage has just died from her injuries so the good news of finding her, the rest of the family died in the storm, is tempered by the news of her death.

I've been watching weather too, breaks my heart to hear of so many deaths, towns destroyed, but many lives spared also.
See how much I recall w/o going back......MrsQ, sorry you had to wait so long thru hubby's surgery, pray they DID get it all.
Who likes housecleaning? I'll give you my address <G> NewC, sorry you're still hurting so; I've had those shots, they work for a bit, suddenly quit, then start working again, goofy :) Mark if understood right you went to visit your mom, want her to live by you but don't think that'll happen. My youngest daughter called today, said apartment open near them if I wanted 'out', said I wasn't ready as had a friend checking into some things for me; besides this is MY house, I'll not be the one going :) if that time comes.
Doc appt tomorrow, we shall see what develops. Even daughter thought I was thinking/out smarting SO, felt good to hear that. Have more info Wed from new supporter, yehaa.
Hope everyone's pain eases, no matter what kind of pain you're having. hugs, kat

Kat, I hope things work out for you. I hope the appointment goes well and you get some help from the doctor.

I had a good day today until I went over to the kids house to help put in a light and fan in. Boy my back was really letting me know it wasn't happy. But it was worth it to see Emery dancing around and then using her imagining. She found a long piece of used tape and gave it to Megan and she said it is trash yewh. Emery took it and acted like it was a tape measure going around measuring each part of the walls in the hall. She made sure I saw her and said she was doing a good job. She is just a treat. I was talking to Tyrel about all the cool things he will be training to do IE HALO parachuting, using explosives, using every personal weapons, learning new languages, etc. Now I need to get to sleep so I can go with Penny to her dr appointment in Evansville later today but if I can Tyrel is taking her while he goes to see his recruiter. I hope Penny gets some good news about a way to get her adrenal working for her. I know the extra weight really bothers her and she would love to lose 30 lbs. It doesn't bother me but she would be much healthier with the 30 lbs off. So off to try and get some sleep.

Mark, please tell Penny she can ship her xtra lbage to me; know my doc isn't going to be happy with me at all as I've lost over 10 lbs in first two weeks this hullabulloo started; down to 77 and holding. SO and I've had some good talks, thought things were going well but I was still having doubts but acting as normal as possible; haven't slept in 2 days; body's rebelling.
Maybe I wrote that SO was taping 'her' calls, this a.m. knew why. He doesn't have to talk to her to drive me nuts, he played the tapes loudly (some parts I remembered she/he said in real time); told her to go back to sleep and I love you..
I walked into room knowing she wasn't there, he said 'what, I'm late for work (like almost an hour). He was finally beginning to realize that I was catching onto him, perhaps even realized I had things I could hold against him. This man is truly insane, not me. to torture people like this..........
He Stayed in his room, heard him taking apart the tapes and anything else he had, put it all in a tin box which he took to work with him; can see a steel furnace there as it's a steel company.....said 'you'll not find anything now you !itches) as calm as could be. If I had a shred of evidence I'd put him in the funny farm part of the hospital, wish there was a way. I wanted to go to counceling, he almost screamed he would not go 'we had that', I said about 15 minutes, they let you off with a slap on the wrist for the deed you did'.

Sunday he said he did nothing except go out as usual with noone; I was in bed, heard him unlock, open front door, say 'have any trouble finding the place', didn't hear answer. Colosed door, went out garage, I think he made tracks up to front door to make it look like someone was here as I was up as soon as he left, he drove, other person drove too......He's so friggin' fast/clever one HAS to out think him.

Have notes for doctor so I remember it all.....would you believe my youngest daughter lives near a small town where we used to live, has a couple of apartments open<G>LOL.....said slow down honey....few hurdles to be crossed first. Need a great lawyer, get some advice from people about that......going to have to start driving no matter what, esp if it's no me who's having the problem........do need something to sleep; pain has been way up there/fibro too but so much going on don't have too much time to think about that; did 3 loads of wash yesterday, started cleaning his filthy bathroom cause he won't help out with anything around here except pick up groceries, which I do appreciate......but that alone does not make a marriage....to think this moodiness has been going on for 8 yrs since dx, only to get worse.

Mark can only imagine Emery with all that sticky tape, oh so cute!!! get out the camera!! Hope you and everyone else is/are feeling better. Hope my appt today goes well so I can feel better also.......looked up meds for hallucinations, wow such bad side effects....blame all this on him, outta the house man, he had a very bad childhood, doesn't mean you have to grow up to be a very mean adult. Give update tomorrow, plus my bud is giving update too on her snoopscapades:) hugs kat

MrsQ - Yes, it would be nice if our family understood the pain. My husband is supportive. I’m lucky in that my aunts understand as they've had more than their fair share of back problems including surgeries. A couple of them have scoliosis and had to have the spines fused. Another one has had three surgeries on her t-spine similar to Mark's surgery. But my mom doesn't believe/understand. She happened to tell a doctor of hers about my situation/diagnosis involving the right arm. He told her it wasn't a real problem and that it could be fixed with physical therapy and stretching. Never mind that I had surgery and exceeded all expectations on the outcome.

Mark - Yes, I know she'll outgrow it. She's definitely clingy compared to her older brother. I also heard about the baby who later died at the hospital. It was sad.

As for me, I got another shot and I can type without pain, my fingers actually work, and the hand doesn't become extremely cold. Our weather is definitely weird. We had a little snow over the past couple of days but by tomorrow, we'll be in the 50s and might possibly hit 60. It was sunny this afternoon and I think everyone had spring fever.

newcervie, it is good to see you typing without the pain and having your fingers and hands working. I hope this injection last a long time. It snowed just north of us Last night and today was in the 60s. The Ohio River is really high and we will be getting into flood stage soon as some of the low lying areas are flooding. No big threat right now though.

Kat hang in there as your situation is tough with the dementia and SO. Penny would gladly give you her extra weight if she could as your weight is too low and no wonder your dr would be concerned. I hope your appointment goes well and he has a medication that can help with the hallucinations without the terrible SE. It is good you have your daughter to look out for you and listen when you need her.

Penny, Tyrel, and I went to Evansville [about 1hr 15 min] as Penny had a dr appointment and Tyrel needed to see his recruiter. It was a rough trip for me but a fun day with us together and able to eat out as the three of us haven't done that in a long time. I was able to get some sleep this evening and I hope to get back to sleep in a couple of hours. It was warm yesterday, 66, and expected to be the same today with rain later in the week but the river doesn't need any more water.

Quickie here.....had 2 1/2 pages for doc to read on exactly what's going on in this house. He patiently read every word, asked a few questions. He said I'm NOT hallucinating, needed no drugs!!!! YEAH! Someone finally believed me, he also knows my SO as he's a patient of his too. Long story short......only thing changed, lowered doseage on a couple meds as didn't need to take so much for my weight. Didn't give me anything for hallucinations because I'm not having any!!!! :)
Hadn't slept for 3 nights, last night, slept the sleep of the dead, altho did hear him talking to her this a.m.......didn't care, went right back to sleep.........now more thinking on my part to outsmart him, what to do, do it very well........then time for a talk this weekend; was going to talk tonight but he was in a fury coming home re: work.......that was enough to tell me to 'shut up'. More time to plan. Thanks for all your love, concern and support, so very appreciated!!!! love, kat :)
