Megan's new medication is dealing with her nausea and she said she is feeling better. I hope it keeps up. The weather was great today so Penny and I went for a walk down on the River walk. It was nice to get out and get moving even though I had been working on the kids cement steps to make them safer for Megan.

The room looks like it is shut down so I am bringing Guido back for a while and he is bringing my ice cold coke while I wait for my medium rare Prime rib and shrimp dinner with a big baked potato and some broccoli. Guido the temps are so warm please bring my meal out on the beach as I want to look at the stars with Venus and Jupiter so bright and close together. I love hearing the surf as it comes crashing up on the beach. The moon up high shine down on the palm trees. If anyone comes along Guido just take their order and send them down to the beach to enjoy the atmosphere.

Wow, I have been gone a long LONG time! I just noticed my last post was January 22! I guess I was a lot sicker than I thought! Actually I'm on antibiotics right now for a respitory infection that knocked me on my butt! I'm feeling better but not up to snuff yet ;) But I will try and get here more regularly again. Besides, it's getting warmer and I see Guido came out of hiding so I need to find a new bathing suit for him.

I'm going to go and try to catch up a little.

I hope the new medication helps Megan. Your such a good father to fix things for them...unless it has to do with a motor my Dad is the type it is best to hide the tools from. I need to find a good handyman for the stuff Mr.Q can't get to. Like my dishwasher!!! I miss it.

I'm not sure what I have been so busy doing this week but it has been a long one. Yesterday is the first day I have been at home & I decided that I was going to wash the trim on the house before planting my little flowerbed out front. Our house is small, there is not much that is not brick on it & the pressure washer is a little thing so this shouldn't have been a big issue. About half way through I figured out I was going to be paying for that little idea. I went ahead and got the grass cut, figured if I'm going to hurt might as well get it all done at one time. I don't know why riding the lawn mower bothers my back so,,the yard is bumpy in places but not that much. At least Mr.Q took care of feeding his Mom & the cooking yesterday.
I slept about two hours and plan on taking some meds once the sitter gets here. So lets hope my day is just one long nap. :)
Hope to catch up with yall this weekend.

Melanie, wow I didn't realize you had been gone so long. That infection was a bad one but it really kept you down for a long time. I hope with the warmer weather you can get out and enjoy it some. Guido did ask if you were going to come around.

Karen, you had to be busy, even with a small house it takes a lot, with all you were doing. I can't even image trying to keep up with a bigger home as long as it takes to do the upkeep in our small house. I have even reduced the lawn by putting in flower beds so at least mowing can be done in a little over 5 minutes. Enjoy your flowers as I think it helps to get out and plant them along with going out each day to care for them. I hope you had a good afternoon nap.

I slept all day yesterday which was a little unexpected. I thought I would have another day before it hit so I have to go and finish the step today. I will have to work around the threats of rain but they should move out later this morning. I hope everyone has a great Friday heading into a good weekend.

MrsQ, it's all the vibration from the mower that's causing the added pain, bumps in the yard just add to it. My dad used to be wiped out for days after doing the yard and he had a zero-turn that took about 15 minutes to cut his yard. I haven't mown in years, and when I did I used an old reel type push mower. I love that thing, everyone else hates it but not me!

Mark, I was shocked at how long it'd been myself! I caught up and see Megan is in the midst of an awful pregnancy (sick wise I mean, congrats on the baby coming!). I was lucky and didn't get nauseous with either my kids, but I had the worst back pain! That was long before my spine issues so I just think it was God preparing me for the future ;)

I have been able to enjoy this lovely weather. This is my perfect time. Cool nights, warm and sunny days, ahhhhh......

Melanie, the weather has been great and I am glad you are enjoying it. I would like to get a reel mower next time but I don't see me being able to push it around the yard so it will be some electric mower next time so I don't have to run out for gas. Megan is doing much better with this new medication, I am sure it won't be a pleasant pregnancy but they say it will be the last one, I hope so.

I finally woke up today after sleeping Thursday away. I went over to the kids and poured the concrete for the step I was repairing and I need to go later today and do some cosmetic work to make it look nice. I felt really bad today but that is the way it is the first day after sleeping a day away. I just feel like I am getting ill but it goes away on the second day. I did lose a major feeling in my molar so Monday I need to get to the dentist and see if it can be put back in, I saved it; if it isn't one thing it is another. I imagine I will be doing some yard work along with the finishing touches on the step. I need to trim the bushes and that isn't something I like since I do it with a hand trimmer.

Operating on no sleep today but it was nice to see IU win their way to the sweet sixteen tonight. This afternoon Penny and I went over to the kids and we ended up taking Emery to the park down the street. She had a blast going down the slides climbing back up and sliding down again. The kids are getting their yard straightened out as they had some overgrown evergreen bushes taken out and I finished cementing the riser on the step I was fixing for them. I came back home and tried to trim the shrubs and decided it was too much so I got on the net and ordered an electric trimmer as I might as well make the job easier.

I hope everyone had the great warm weather we had today although I saw the west coast and Rockies had cool/cold weather.

                  Goodmorning

This is the first day I have felt half human since my attempt at yard work. I'm starting to rethink all my landscape ideas....boring grass seems easier to deal with. lol
I have a little flower bed that is between the porch and side walk in the front & that is about all I need.
I have been helping one of the aids that come for my mother in law with some geneology research so at least I have done something productive. I'm not thrilled with how far I have got with it but at least it might be a start for her.
I have got to try do a bit of housework today since I have been letting that go. This next week Mr.Q has doctor visits everyday we have a sitter so I won't be getting much done then.
Oh do any of you have any idea how to get the smell of gas out of carpet? It has been over two weeks since I spilled some in my truck and even with the nice weather and living the windows all down it still is awful. Well guess I better go. Hope you all have a good day. I hope your getting some much needed rest Mark.

Karen, nothing wrong with a nice lawn. We have gone to perennials so we don't have much planting to do each year. I don't know how to get the gas smell out but I would think sprinkling baking soda on it would help.

Saturday I lost a crown so I have to go to the dentist Tuesday to have it remounted. I knew there was a price to pay for the good day I had Saturday, other than the lost crown, and sleeping all day Sunday until late this morning was it. It is nice to sleep and not feel the pain but I hate missing whole days.

Ok never had a crown but losing one sounds painful.

I know you hate to miss a whole day but if the pain is that bad your not going to be able to do much anyway & I'm sure it is better for your body to rest.
Hope today is a good one for everyone.

Karen, the good news is I have no pain with the missing crown. I found out at the dentist that it is broken and a new one needs to be made and mounted so back I go next Tue if I am able. My dentist is well aware of my condition and works with me so if Tue is a bad day I can try Wed or Thu whichever works the best for me. I do enjoy not dealing with pain the days I sleep so much unless it is a really bad pain that I feel despite the sleep. I just get tired of a schedule where I stay awake for 36 or more hours then sleep for 18 or more. It would be nice to spread the sleep and awake periods around to match a normal schedule but I am t the mercy of my body.

Today started at the dentist but it was a short visit and I had to set up a new appointment to get a new crown put in. From there it was off to the doctor for my weekly injection and I came home to rest for a bit. My new electric trimmer got in so I trimmed our shrubs which was quick work and makes me wonder why I did if by hand for three years. I grill out to night with chicken and potatoes, onions, carrots on the menu. It was a nice change for dinner and I have been doing just some odds and ends this evening.

Glad the electric trimmer worked out so well.
Grilling out sounds nice. The dang mosquitoes are so bad here already that we would have to build a bon fire to cook out on. We are in for this slow moving rain system to come in today & of course Mr.Q had two MD visits today. I'm dreading dealing with the sitter today, I haven't been worried about leaving her here alone but now since I know she will lie to our face it makes uncomfortable.
I think everyone must be on spring break around here.

Karen, sorry your sitter isn't trustworthy as it is difficult to leave a loved on with someone you don't trust. I hope you stayed dry while take Mr to his appointments. I was comfortable and warm as I spent the day sleeping to catch up on my rest.

I had a lost day so no news. I do need to stay up for a couple hours so I can get the recycling and trash out for pick-up this morning.

Hey Mrs. Q, I did a quick 'net search on the gas smell and found the following ideas. The first 3 seem to be the most common though.

Sprinkle with baking soda and leave overnight, vacuum in the morning.

Scrub the area with a little dish soap & hot water and let dry.

Sprinkle some coffee grounds and let sit then vacuum up.

                              Febreeze.

Set a bowl of vanilla near the area and leave for 24 hours, works best if area has been scrubbed first.

Pour rubbing alcohol over area then open doors and windows to allow it to evaporate.

                              Hope this helps :)

Mark, we are having lovely weather exept for the wild hail storms the other night. Got hit with two storms about an hour apart, first one had golf ball sized hail and the second were a little smaller but there were a LOT more! Dh and I were on the screened porch and it was so loud you couldn't hear yourself think! Luckily no damage though.

It's been HOT the last few days though, we've had record highs. It's supposed to rain this weekend and bring cooler temps, upper 60's and 70's. Such a strange 'spring' this year. I worry when it gets this hot so early though, usually means it's going to be really bad this summer! Oh and freak snow storms. One year we had a blizzard conditions on Mother's Day!! I don't wanna do that again
