Karen, I hope your dad behaves so everyone can have a good time. Some people just don't age well and when they start out not being pleasant it can really get tough when they are older. The kids and Emery are coming over in the afternoon so it will be nice to be with them. You describe the sleep issue pretty well. I also think our meds can contribute to us not sleeping. It is strange because they can be very sedating but at some point I think it works the other way.

Not much going on since I spent most of the day catching up on sleep. I was up a couple of times so I did do a few things but nothing major. I hope tomorrow is a good day since everyone will be over.

Hi All ~ We got a few drops of rain today ~ we need it badly as we haven't had any real rain in about 6 weeks and it's REALLY dry! The lawn looks terrible, except of course the weeds! lol

Things have been kind of "hairy" here lately as we have a rebellious teenager on our hands. Granddaughter actually called the police on her mother because her mother had to restrain her when she tried to run away! So she told the police that she was ASSAULTED! Good grief. They had to interview all of us, and of course this brat teenager told them lies -- daughter and I told them the TRUTH, but the officer said he still had to present it to the prosecuting attorney so he said if he wasn't back in about 2 hours to "arrest" my daughter then don't worry about it. He didn't come back, thank goodness. But Child Protective Services will probably come to talk to this brat teenager and look things over. This is what government has done to parents. It has taken parenting away from the parents and put it in the hands of the KIDS. All they have to do is call the police, and they THINK they can get away with everything. HA!

Poor Mark ~ I hope you're finally sleeping! Last I knew you hadn't slept in about 58 hours!!! I haven't slept since night before last, so maybe I'll get a nap today. I hope so. lol The darn pain keeps increasing, so doc and I will definitely have a long talk on the 25th.

Karen ~ it's got to be hard dealing with your dad. Plus having to take care of your mom besides, you surely have your hands full, bless your heart! I hope that the help you have is sufficient. I'm sure you're worn out. It sounds like you don't get nearly enough sleep.

Hope everyone is doing as good as possible. It's heating up pretty good here -- hottest spring on record here, but I think that's true everywhere. Take care all, and talk to you all soon. Hugs, Lee

Don't you love it how the weeds keep growing no matter how dry.

Sorry your having such a time with your granddaughter. your right about the goverment involvment. The kids who are not being abused know how to work the system but then you get a kid who neeeds help and you can't get DHS to get involved for anything. It is just sad.

Mark hope your having a nice father's day.

I actually slept three hours at one time last night so I'm feeling good.....well sleep wise anyway.

Karen, glad to hear you got some sleep in and I hope whatever you did today turned out the way you like. Weeds seem to grow no matter what conditions or where it is.

Lee, sorry to hear about the stress with the granddaughter but you are right about gov't jumping in too quick. On the other hand when kids are in great danger it seems like gov't can't send those kids back into the home quick enough.

No sleep last night for me. The Father's Day plans got changed as Megan was exhausted so we went over for a visit. I got a musical card Emery picked out and we danced to it several times as she loves the silly song. When we got ready to leave Emery wouldn't give the card up so I have to go over there to listen to it when I want. It has been a good day but I sure hope I can get to sleep tonight and get several hours in before waking up.

I have had a couple of good days lately. My pain has really shot up tonight for some reason but I hope my upcoming dose gets it under control. I got out and did some yard work using the weedeater to edge the walks. I also pruned the crepe murtle bushes. The rest of my time outside has been sitting in the swing ready a book with a cold coke.

Glad to see you have been having some good days Mark.
Monday I went over a county or two to a big farm to meet my mother & sister. As if the ride was not bad enough I then thought I could go out and try to pick some squash...why I thought this I do not have a clue. It did not take long for my S1 vertabra to remind me I was being a raving lunatic. It made me feel like crap to see my 76 year old mother able to out do me but not much I can do about it. Gardening is not for me. My "garden'' is the size of a queen bed and I do not need anything bigger for sure.
We did get some pretty tomatoes, melons, peas and bellpeppers. It is amazing to see peppers we pay a buck each for in the store sell for 4/1.
After that I road with them to their house ( 2 counties north) and then my folks came back home with me. They stayed two night and it went ok. Dad helped me determine that my dishwasher is dead, well it could be fixed but the part cost as much as the dishwasher. I found the instruction book ....they had put it UNDER the dishewasher....very helpful.
My parents got a little dog while they were down here. She is a few years old which I think is better for them than a puppy. She is a little pom and so cute I hope it works out they are on a trial basis right now.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Karen, I do have to wonder what you thought you were doing going to pick squash like a "normal" person. It is discouraging to see people much older doing better with physical things than we can. You have to wonder what our limitations will be when we get to that age. I see the same thing on prices at our farmers market as they bring crop straight from the field to sell in City Hall Park. It is good to hear you had a good visit with your parents and they got to stay for a couple of days.

I got back to my sleep days today. I knew it was coming since I didn't sleep last night very well due to the pain. At least I work up several times today and now I am not in the extreme pain I was in last night.

Oh you know I am not right. I figure if I just pretend enough it won't all seem so crappy.
It feels like this mess takes every option in life and locks the door . I tried to sit down and paint tonight , i can't sit though a meal at the table why I thought I could sit to paint .....more pretending I guess. Hope you get some rest tonight.

Karen, don't worry about going to the farm and picking crops as we all want to do normal things that others can do. Sorry to hear you are still having pain from it but hopefully the pain will let up soon. My day was the day from hell as my pain was out of control and I could find anything to get it under control. I haven't had a day like this for a long time and I had thoughts I never have but it was only thoughts not trying to find a way to end it all. I could have done stupid things like crushing my opiate but I would never do that as I would go to the hospital before doing something like that. Penny tried many things to help out but it just wouldn't let the pain ebb. I am still dealing with this right now but if I can find a way to get asleep I am hoping it will be under control when I wake up. Other wise I will call my dr and see if he would the hospital to give me a shot to knock me out for a while. Here is hoping to less pain for both of us in the morning.

Just a short note as I didn't get much sleep. Early, early in the morning the combo of heating pad and meds broke the horrific muscle spasms causing so much pain. I need to take it very easy this morning as I don't want it to act up once again. One night and one day, evening, night, and morning within 3 days was enough of that awful pain so I am going to take it easy. I hope everyone has a nice day today and enjoy yourself.

Hi Karen, I am not feeling very good, after these episodes, I feel like a coming down with something as a result of the muscle spasms and soreness. My pain had been under control most of the day though with only a couple twinges like it was going to hit again but it didn't. Have a good night yourself and I hope you get more rest than usual.

A decent day today. I got a call from a former player that was one of my best players that is like my adopted son in many ways. It was great to talk to him as I had lost a way to talk to him so we just caught up with each other. I have many I have talk with most weeks. It is good to know what they are doing after being a football player. I didn't do much as I am trying to let my body recover from the several days of horror pain days. So far I am doing well with it.

Mark I am glad you were able catch up with one of your old players. It is nice they keep in touch.
I'm terrible about that, I always feel as if I am bugging people so I tend not stay in touch and regret it later on.

I have something going on with my hip, SI joint I guess. I could not find a comfortable way to lay last night. I ended up laying across the ottoman. LOL The dog was not happy since that is his spot.

It is going to be close to 100 again today so I have all the blinds and curtains pulled trying to keep the a/c from running all the time. It is nice and dark so maybe I will get a nap in today.

Hope you have a good day Mark. Hi to anyone lurking around reading,....come talk to us!

Karen, the pain is bad enough but then to get it in a way that no position works is really bad. I hope you were able to take a nap as I slept all day today. I am still trying to figure out what my cycle is after the 4 days of horrific pain changed everything. I hope to get some sleep yet tonight and have a decent day today.

Any lurkers come on in and say hi.
