newcervie, I missed the open ceremonies too but have seen parts of it and it looks like it was really good. It is fun to hear your son was so excited about the bike race and thinking it was in France instead of the roads in England. I had a good time with the visit as they ended up needing so help repairing the bureaus and then Emery wanted to play in the pool. Like usual I was sitting outside the pool but got soaked as the little imp likes to splash me but of course I splash her back. It is always fun to go over and visit as Emery is such a treat and I like helping the kids on small projects. As I was leaving Emery [she is really starting to talk in sentences now] said bye bye and I told the kids I love you guys so as I walked down the sidewalk Emery was calling out love you love you for the first time to me.

Mark - the visit sounds like it was fun. Steph is at the stage where everything is hers even if it was her brother's. She has started taking off my shoes and putting her shoes on my feet. Of course, it only covers a couple of toes. Then, she takes my shoes and tries to walk around the house.

newcervie, your description of Steph reminds me of when Megan was that age. She always was into dressing up and wanting others to dress up. Thankfully our golden retriever was a doll and put up with all the dress up Megan put him through. One of my favorite pictures of Megan was at 5 dressed up in her mom's lacy nightie with her mom's dress jacket over it and mom's high heels. She looked so grown up while still being a very young girl. I can just picture Steph putting her shoes on your toes like they fit your feet and I can just imagine hearing her clomping along around the house.

I haven't slept yet so I went out for breakfast again. It is nice going and not coming out smelling like cigarette smoke because the nonsmoking law went into effect. I don't like the govt being that intrusive but I do like the benefit of the law. I was very sleep when I got back so I prepared for sleep but couldn't drop off so I got up and went to the dr for my weekly injection and pick up my MSContin scrip. From there I went by the library to donate some of my paperbacks and select a few to read this week. Next I was off to the grocery to pick up some meat for the week and some Coke. Finally i was off to the gas station to fill up the SUV and get a gallon for the lawnmower. Now I don't know if I will nap or stay up and get to sleep a bit early tonight.

Hope your getting some sleep Mark.
Thanks for mentioning getting gas for the mower I need to add that to my to do list for this week, I finished up on fumes last week.

I had one of those days where you do something you know is going to hurt later but you do it anyway. I'm in the payback stage tonight.
I did some heavy duty cleaning in the bedroom today and pushed furniture around a bit too much I guess. I'm already getting the I told you so from Mr.Q. I will take something to help me sleep once the sitter shows up today.

Hope you all have a good day

Karen, sometimes I think we must be stubborn people because I know the feeling of doing something that I know will make me pay for it later on or even right away and do it anyway. Sorry you are hurting for doing chores that you needed to do. I hope you get it under control soon and don't suffer too much. I have gotten some sleep last night and am just hanging on right now so I guess I am going back to sleep now.

Mark - Your description of Megan dressing up when she was 5 years old made me smile. I started replying earlier this evening, Steph came over to see what I was doing and saw the light flashing on the side (power button) of the laptop. Guess what she pushed? So, I'm back now that she's down for the evening.

I think I did a bit too much today and paying the price with increased muscle spasms and nerve pain. It's to be expected that the symptoms worsen for a few weeks but I'm hoping it doesn't get to severe.

newcervie, leave it to our little ones to push buttons we would rather they didn't. Wait until she wants to push the keys while you are on the computer. When Emery was younger Megan and Darrin couldn't keep her away from the computer and finally had to wait until she was asleep. It gets frustrating until we see who is doing it and then our love for them over rides any frustration we have. You have to wonder why we always do to much but we know that any time we feel decent enough to get some things done we don't know how long we will feel that way so get as much in as we can and deal with the consequences later. I hope you get feeling better by tomorrow so you can play with those two kids and have enough left for your husband as you know us guys are just big kids.

It was a day to catch up with the sleep I have been missing. I kept waking up and trying to stay awake but I would conk out anyway. Everyone get a good night sleep and I hope we all have a good day tomorrow.

Sleepy day today although I stayed awake all day. I hope to get to sleep soon as I woke up at 3 am and have been awake ever since. It was a lazy day as I spent most of it watching TV or reading. I did get out a couple of times in the yard to do a little bit of work. We are getting some needed rain tonight and I hope it last long enough to do us some good. Our area is fortunate that our aquifer is large enough and deep enough we don't have any water issues despite all the drought conditions this summer.

We are getting a little shower thanks to the heat of the day & the gulf moisture but it won't last long. I can't complain MS is one of the few areas not in the drought area.

I went and did the shopping today...I so hate shopping. I found out today our sitter that we like is going to another job, not sure when but I hate it.
Ok I'm off to listen to the rain on the tin roof and try to sleep a bit. Hope you all have a good weekend

Karen, hear the rain on a tin roof is a great way to relax and go to sleep. We got some rain last night so lately we have bee breaking our drought but it is still a bit dry because of the heat. Sorry to hear you are losing your favorite sitter as it is such a change for your MIL and you.

Not much going on as I slept all day to make up for not sleeping last night.

We'll be roasting this weekend, first time in over 2 years that our temps will be in the 90s (about 15 degrees above normal). We'll leaving to go up to the family cabin by a lake. It will be even hotter there and no way to cool off except the water. Wait, I can't go swimming yet . . . I got about 1.5 hours of sleep last night so I think I'll be sleeping in the car up there if the kids allow it. I hope everyone else stays cool and has a good weekend.

Newcervie, Have a good time at the lake and I hope you get some sleep on the way there. We are cooling down about 7 or 8 degrees which is more in line with our normal temps. I have to get out and mow today as the yard has started growing with the rain we been having lately. I have friends from up North down on Monday. He was one of my coaches and his wife and son are straight from China. His wife has lived her for about 8 years and the son has been here for 4 years. She is interesting to talk to as she was part of the student protest and feared she would be arrested after Tiananmen Square protest. She wasn't there but part of a student group in her city up North. One of the things that made me chuckle is their son wants to have KFC in Kentucky.

I admire your friends wife for standing up Mark. I just don't understand why we support China so much buying things from them when they treat their people so awful.

Well things are starting to pop up in the tropics it is like it was waiting for Aug to roll around. I hope we will be lucky and get some tropical systems in to help the drought and just avoid any true storms.

Ok how fast can you catch a bug? The guy checking me out at Sams yesterday was rotten sick and looked like he was burning up with a fever. I know there must be some other reason but I feel like crud today.

Karen, I sure hope you don't get sick despite feeling like you are coming down with it. The thing with China it is like their are two different countries. Life in the major cities and for the educated getting treated much better following the uprising. The people in the country are poor and not treated very well because the communist leader has no real restraints and they rule like lords in the middle ages. The cities are huge, they have something like the top 8 our 10 cities in the world, as NYC would be only in the top 20 city there.

It looks like we are having more rain today but it hasn't started yet. It is looking dark with rain clouds and still hot so it is humid. I am watching some of the Olympics as I like the track events. I got the yard mowed earlier so nothing else that needs to be done.

I had a decent day today despite napping the afternoon away. Our friends from up North made it down and the whole family went out to eat with them. Then Penny and I took them down to the river and our river walk. They saw the murals that get painted on the flood wall and were amazed at how high some of the floods have been as there is a mark for each one on the entry of the wall. We finished by visiting the rest of the evening and catching up with each other. It is nice to talk to them since the wife and son are straight from China and have become Americans by choice. I hope everyone else had a good day.
