As miserable as it is I think this heat must be good for the muscle spasms. I got the yard cut this morning and that usually involves me having to get off the mower a few times do to them but today I did not have one. Ofcourse that was before 9am and it was only in the upper 80's lol. We hit 101 today and my poor petunias look like cooked spinach.

Hope your getting some rest Mark. I guess summer activities are keeping people offline, my local messege board is dead also.

Hi! I've stopped by a few times, started a post and then had to take care of a pressing matter (i.e. kids). It would be nice if some warm weather (but not those 100's) came our direction. We're breaking records with a colder and wetter than normal June.

Mark - I hope you can get the neck settled down. I've been dealing with increased neck issues probably due to two separate falls I took in April and May. Working on trying to settle it down before surgery in a few weeks.

MrsQ - Heat does help the muscles. I know I always fare better in the summer.

I hope thing will warm up for you before your surgery since you do better in the warm temps.

Will your kids be back in school before you have surgery? I think they go back here the 2nd week in Aug, which seems sorta cruel since that just about the hottest time of year.

I don't know how you manage the pain and being as busy kids keep you. I can't even keep my pets happy. Thankfully they just entertain themselves. I had been laying down with my TENS unit on & got up to find the cat on top of the bookcase fishing toys out of a basket dropping them to the floor for the dog!

newcervie, I have gotten the pain to calm down finally, it was my thoracic spine acting up this time. Your area has been having the weather we had early this summer but now we are having very hot weather, which I like, but not any rain that we need. I hope the kids let you relax for the next few weeks heading into surgery.

Karen, I chuckled about your pet story as the cat and dog must be good friends.

Not much going on here as I was up for more than 30 hours Thursday. Unfortunately I was taking care of my sick son as he was vomiting most of the day; I sure didn't enjoy clean-up even though he was helping. Today I slept once I got to sleep early in the morning so I hope to be up and about for the weekend.

I hate your son has been sick Mark. I hope he is feeling better now & that it was not something the rest of you will catch.

Yep the cat and dog are big buddies. It is one of the cats I bottle fed a few years ago so they sorta attaached to the dog. He use to love rolling them around the house when they were just tiny fluff balls and now they are almost bigger than he is. It is cute the cat will want to lay next to him and try sneak into the recliner without waking the dog up. At some point the dog will wake up look at the cat like how did you get here & then let out the biggest sigh like he is so out done with her attention. They are entertainment for sure.

My muscle spasms are in over drive & I not know why. It is going to make for a long weekend around here since we don't have any help. Hope everyone has a nice Sat.

Hi Karen, Tyrel is over it as it was a 24 hour bug but Penny got it Friday but she is doing better today. It is a hot one here today as I was out working in the yard for a bit. Sorry to hear the muscle spasms are in overdrive. I hope you have some muscle relaxers that can get them under control. Of course I remember my flare last week and the muscle relaxer just didn't get the job done then either.

Hot, hot weather with all the rain North of us. We are getting to the point that it is very dry. The local National Forest Office has issued a fire alert limiting open fires in the forest as it is so dry. We have just been catching up on household weekly chores since everyone is healthy again.

MrsQ - Josh doesn't go back to school until after Labor day this year although he is at school 3 days a week for extended care. He's having a blast - walking down to the various parks with the group, playing and then taking the public bus back to school. The "hill" is steep so not good for kids to climb after they've been playing all day. Fridays is walking down the hill another direction and swimming with the bus bringing them back up the "hill". August 2nd does seem way too early to go back to school. Prior to this year, Josh went back to school the week before Labor Day and that seemed early to me.

I can manage with the pain as my husband is really supportive. I just wish I was dealing with just one area of the spine and/or just one problem.

I just hope those toys weren’t toys you were keeping away from the dog because the dog would shred the toys. We had a dog who had to have stomach surgery to remove toy pieces.

Mark – Glad to hear it was only a 24 bug that your son had. It’s not fun cleaning up. I hope people listen to those alerts. We don't need more fires.

Newcervie, Josh must be wore out when he comes home after playing all day at school and then walking up that big hill afterwards. Wouldn't it be great to just have one area of the spine to deal with?

Not much going on today as I have been dozing and taking it easy. We had a small storm that cooled things off but didn't have any ran to speak of since it evaporated as quick as it hit the ground and didn't last long.

Yesterday we had quite a storm with wonderful rain that came down for hours soaking the ground completely. It has been so long since we have had rain as it has been all around us but we seem to have been in a pocket of arid weather. It was so nice to watch the rain beat down for hour after hour know our plants were getting a good soaking they needed so bad. Today was a day to sleep as I was awake until the morning and finally fell asleep. I woke up in the late afternoon and took it easy doing just a few things. I was back asleep around 10 PM and hope to get back to sleep soon so I have a good 4th of July. I hope everyone can get out and enjoy the 4th although our community has cancelled the fireworks because of our dry conditions. Despite the heat I may see if Darrin and Emery want to go to the park and see what rides they brought in this year for the celebration.

                      Happy Independece Day!

No plans here since we are under a burn ban, the Lab will be thrilled she hates fireworks. I may fix a traditional 4thy type meal & maybe we can find some fireworks on tv. They are having a big show down at the state park over the lake but the huge crowds just kill it for me. The last time we went some woman was attacked in the restroom & it was pretty bad. It just makes me not care to go back in such a huge crowd there.

Mark I hope you have a good day and able to enjoy going to the park

                      Happy 4th!

Hi Karen, we didn't make it to the park but Darrin and Emery came over for a cook out as Megan had to work. I fixed some steaks for the guys and Emery while Penny wanted a pork chop. I fixed a baked potato for me and fries for the others as they love them. Emery was such a little lady eating her lunch, dipping her fries in ketchup, and spearing small pieces of steak to eat. Penny made a fruit salad that was really good with peaches, strawberries [Emery's favorite], bananas, and apple. There was very little left of anything by the time lunch was over. Emery wanted to go outside and play tag so Darrin and I went. I chased her and Darrin was base but Emery found out I could still get her even when Darrin was holding her:). It was 100 out so we went back on the porch after just a little bit. Emery wanted to go inside with grandma so we went in and Penny took her down to get the lap top while Darrin, Tyrel, and I looked for a game on TV but couldn't find any so we settled for a show. We noticed Emery didn't come down to see us so we went up to see what she was up to - snoozing on the sofa next to grandma. She got in a good 2 hour nap and then it was time to go home because Megan was getting off work. It was a fun 4th of July despite no fireworks.

Karen I don't blame you for not wanting to go where the crowds are as I don't like it either. If the crowd is big enough you will find some idiots there. I hope you had a good time with the family.

Glad you guys had a good 4th Mark.

I don't know what I'm going to do today but I have to get out of this house while the sitter is here today before this weekend starts. I walked outside the other day to get the mail and realized I had not left the house in five days & its not my health but caregiving keeping me in. This is where I wish my health were better so I could go do something. Finding some where to go for hours is hard around here, it is pretty much shopping & that is not a spine friendly thing for me.
My sister may have to come down and go into the hospital to take a drip her potassium is so low so not sure how that is going to play into the weekend and who I may have staying with me.
I hope you guys have a good Fri.

Karen, I hope you were able to get out of the house for a while. I know what you mean about shopping isn't a spine friendly way to get out of the house. I hope your sister gets her potassium under control pretty quick so it doesn't stretch into the weekend.

It is still hot here and even with the one night of great rain we could still use some more soon. I slept yesterday making up for the sleep I missed but being up Wed was great with Emery over here to play. I hope everyone is doing well and Karen and I see a few drop by this weekend.

We have been having a few showers here and there. Actually they are pretty strong storms but not real big, a large house lost its metal roof to straight line winds earlier in the week.

I did not get much sleep last night so I ended up not staying gone long. I went and took libary books back & dropped some clothes off at the shelter where I had cleaned a closet out. Then I took Misty the 70lb Lab who thinks she is lap dog to the vet. She thinks you are hauling her off so she doesn't want to get in the truck, then she just had to sit in the front seat with her paw on my leg the entire way. I have never seen a dog love other animals so much. I wish I had a camera on her when someone brought another lab in the vets office. He was having heart worm treatments so he did not feel good but oh she wanted to play with him. She was so happy to get back in the truck she hopped up with no problems the rascal.

Karen, sorry to hear you didn't get much sleep. I had to laugh at your description of Misty going to the vet and coming back home. It sounds like you were busy with the cleaning, library, and dropping the clothes off at the shelter.

It was 100 again today but I did get out to mow the yard and did a little bit of trimming of our crepe mytrle bushes so the blooms don't splay out limbs. The rest of the day I have been indoors other than to go to CVS and drop off a check for a bill at the car repair shop. Sunday is the day it is supposed to really cool down here. I was surprised how high the Ohio River as we must have gotten a lot of rain with that one storm.
