Kat, sorry your Packers bit the dust today against the Giants but I warned you the Giants were on a roll. I hope you had a good day despite their loss. It seems like Super Bowl teams get knocked out early the next year the latest examples before the Packers were the Colts and Saints and the Steelers this year.


The weather warmed up a little bit today and it is supposed to warm up for the next few days. Today was a good day once I woke up. I slept part of the night and then had a nap after my morning dose of meds. Penny and I went over to the kids to see them their dishwasher and new counter top. Megan was putting together a new cage for Emery's rabbit and Darrin was watching the football game. Of course Emery had to drag out her toys for Penny and I to hold on to. no one can figure out why she does it but she always has done that. We didn't stay too long as Penny and I were on our way to the store so it worked out nice for all of us.

Really nothing much to say except missed watching game as it was a sleep day; guess I didn't miss much. SO said he went to pub, left at 1/2 time, ate, went to bed. His not this a.m. said his joints were hurting, both of us blaming our pain on a Low coming in; rain/snow tonight, with a couple of inches ??? overnight/tomorrow. My back was doing well for a couple of days until I started vaccing again. If I could only remember to stand up and move with the vac, think it would help. Do even have note on puter to 'sit up straight' which helps - when I remember to read note :)

Mark, bet your glad you're finished with basement, bet it's beautiful. When we moved in this house, basement wasn't finished at all, except he had roughed in a large bar; now it stores bags of pellets behind it. Owner tipped us off if we put carpeting down, no new taxes; but if we put in carpeting, enclosed ceiling, lots of new taxes. We don't use it so it has stayed as is except for putting in a sink/toilet.

Upstairs could use some work as far as carpet goes.....professional cleaning or new carpeting. It's a wheat color. SO won't leave his shoes in hallway, kitty pukes which I pick up/clean as fast as she tosses it out. Now seems like she's got a lot of stuff in her nose, goes to tummy, tosses that up, or it asthma stuff she's coughing up as you never hear her do it. Vomiting food you definitely hear her doing. If lucky I catch it in my hand instead of on carpet. Best way I've found to get it out of carpet is window washer stuff in squirt bottle and rag. Even for dark colored food. Just what ya'll wanted to hear, all about cat's vomit<G>LOL
Mark hope Penny now finds the basement agreeable, will come down more often, sit with you.
Oldest granddaughter turns 13 Friday; all family has been invited for dinner at 5:30; Angela wanted pigs in blanket so other Grandmother's coming over (kids off of school) to show/help her make them. One of my fave meals too....about 20 people to feed!! Steve's family is big, my ex's wife came with family attached plus they had a child, grown now living in CN. Of course SO not so happy about going as usual; doesn't like anything to do with family; as I've mentioned he's come out in pub saying he hates people, but he's in pub alot. His idea of doing something on a Saturday is doing a bar run, have a drink or two here, move on to next etc you get idea. Not my idea of fun. Not anymore With diabetes he now has to watch how much he drinks or he adjusts his doseage which really irritates me, but comes back from doc once a month with great numbers. Doc doesn't know how he does it, I don't either except the adjusting thing. He'll stop after work for a drink, and know it's more than one, he drinks as fast as he eats, comes home has another 1-2 drinks.....at least he uses diet soda.

Like I said Mark, pray that Penny will spend more time with you. Here we are in same room but that's about it. He reads, I'm at puter. We talk more at supper, things from news I bring up which he stops in middle as he says he's heard about that already.....he only talks when he's in mood, he doesn't like my subjects....I love medicine, animals, mystery, some politics.....but the mensa man already is ahead of me. Sure hope you and Penny aren't like that. SO blames everything on my dementia..to my face.

Well better get going, clothes almost done, dang load I took out still sitting on couch....dishwasher on way to being done too.........

My baby sister had a little girl late last night...6 lbs 4 oz, 20" long. Her name is Eleanor Anne. It is a VERY good day.

Hi! I'm popping in as I got home at a "decent" hour from work. We've been working a lot due to year end and I'm definitely paying the price but I got a slight reprieve due to the weather. We've had snow since Saturday with more coming tonight, more tomorrow and then the big storm comes in Tuesday night. If the forecasts hold true, we're looking at the worst snow storm since at least the mid-90s. As we have numbers due on Thursday, essential personnel are being put up in a hotel for the next couple of nights. My son built a snowman yesterday and they went sledding down the street. Unfortunately, I missed out playing in the snow as I had to work to meet a deadline.

Giants vs Packers - The two vice presidents of our group waged a bet on the game. The one who lost has to wear a Giants helmet in the office for an entire day.

Temperpedic bed: We have one and I love it. I think it might be why my t-spine doesn't act up as much as it did years ago but can't be absolutely certain.

I'm not caught up on everything as I'm still reading through past posts.

Hi all ~ Thought I'd pop back in since I'm up. Our 6 inches of snow is almost all gone, since yesterday it got up to 44, and rained last night. That's ok with me -- except there's so much FOG right now that I can barely see the high school that's right next door!

Southernlady -- Your sister's baby Eleanor is ADORABLE!! Gosh it's amazing how God can make human babies so perfect! She's just the prettiest thing! I hope your sister is ok.

Granddaughter Mariah has a schoolmate staying here until the end of the week so she can finish school here for the semester, and then will transfer to a school in a different town next week. She and Mariah aren't getting along and it makes things a bit awkward. :ambivalence: Oh well -- it won't be much longer.

Don't know what I did, but having an AWFUL time with pain lately! It hasn't been this bad in years! I finally got about 2 hours sleep last night after 2 days of no sleep.

Need to catch up on some reading here so I can comment on things. :o I'm a little behind ---well actually I've a BIG behind. LOL

newcervie, I hope the VP has fun wearing the helmet. Glad to hear you got home at a decent hour as I know how the end of the year can get for businesses. I love the temperpedic too when I am able to sleep on it but my wife says it has really cut down on her hip pain. I know it isn't for everyone as like everything it isn't perfect but it does have some major advantages.

Liz, it is easy to see why yesterday was a very good time for you and your sister's family. You took a very nice picture which isn't easy to do with newborns.

Kat, Penny has been spending more time in the basement now. She complains about the TV shows I have on but I point out when she is down I watch different shows that she likes. She thinks I am missing out on my shows but TV isn't that important to me. Improving our basement doesn't increase our taxes because Indiana gives us enough of a break due to my disability and the size of our house that we don't pay any property taxes. Maybe it makes up for the years of high property taxes but of course we had big nice homes to live in. Kat it is hard for our spouses to talk to us although they need to once in a while. We are limited in what happens in our lives and our diseases are much of what impacts our lives. Spouses just don't need to hear about or condition all the time but it consumes our lives even when we try and bring up other things. I know that I repeat things and Penny sure doesn't want to talk about history, astronomy, or politics so we have to find things to chat about. It isn't fair that your SO doesn't work to chat with you just to break up your loneliness. I had to work hard to get Penny to understand that much of her complaints were due to my loneliness. I have limited hours I see her so I want to be with her to make up for the time I miss out on and she really couldn't understand for a while.

Yesterday was a day of sleep even though I was up now and then to get something to eat, drink, etc. I would try to stay awake and the next thing I know I am asleep again. Penny hadn't seen me stir for 10 hours so she leaned over to see if I was breathing as she couldn't tell. Her hair feel on my face and it woke me up thinking some fluff or bug was on me:). Thankfully I didn't do anything but brush her in the face with my fingers as I had no idea she was there.

Nothing much going on here; our mini blizzard is almost over; got about 4 inches; little more snow on Friday; so far shouldn't be much.

Sounds like Green Bay Packers are losing Donald Driver; from what I caught on news he's retiring. great player.

Kat, your blizzard was our *******ial rain this early morning. The wind blew hard and the rain came down in sheets. I hope you are doing better and things are going well for you.

I was awake today and did a little bit of work putting in some trim in the upstairs bathroom but not much else.

Beautiful day today, sunny, no wind, only 9 degrees so taking longer to heat house. Kitty had breakfast/lunch, now curled up in couch cushion, her favorite place. SO started swiss steak on low in slo-cooker when he got up, added packet of french on soup; I turned it up to high when I got up; that baby is going to be fork tender. Will add spuds/carrots later. Love one dish meals like that....nothing to do but let it cook.
Got a new bird feeder filled mostly with peanuts; birds have been here in droves, loving those peanuts.
Mark, basement's done, now it's just putzy stuff you've been putting off? Always something to fix when owning a house.
Glad you're taking it easy.

Kat, 9degree is cold out although we were at 29 this morning it felt very cold. Your dinner sounds yummy and I too love one dish meals. I hope your house warmed up as it took our house a while to warm up this morning. I bet all those birds are a sight to see coming to the feeder. Yes I just only have some putzing around to do this winter that comes with owning a house.

I have had a productive day despite just a couple hours of sleep. I have been taking it easy so I keep my pain under control but I sure know when a dose of meds are due.

Morning Mark, only 1 degree this a.m., not as windy as yesterday but in a snow advisory, 3-5 inches. Wind will come after snow goes thru. SO has to drive South right into path of storm to view a company they work with, will be an all dayer. And of all nights is my granddaughter's birthday dinner tonight at 5:30!! We won't get to it unless the snow jockey plows our place as driveway drifts like crazy, and if you recall, it's long/steep. (Don't think we'll get as much as way south of here) I would think if SO can get up w/o plowing with 4WD truck we should be ok. Also know he'd love to use snow as excuse for not going as he had a late company dinner last night too. He's not fond of family get togethers for some reason...my ex/wife are there but no big deal as he doesn't say two words, sits in a corner with his wife. He finds no comfy place to sit, so men all stand in kitchen usually or go upstairs to den and stairs do him in breathing, back down to get food, back up to eat. Always sits on his stool in our kitchen, don't know why he doesn't take it along and be comfy. He's never cared what people thought before.

That meal/meat was really tender, put in spuds/carrots, onion soup mix but both decided it was missing something. Was trying to recall how I used to make it as it's been a long time, thought small can of tomatoes, and bay leaf or just bay leaf.

I don't have specialities anymore, nowadays if it turns out it's special :) <G> Just trying to learn to make smaller portions. SO loves to make soups/chilies. No chili comes out tasting same. Always says will make this one again but never writes down what he put in so like I said they're all different; tosses in all but kitchen sink.

Kids finally get their xmas presents tonight. Between Steve's surgery, coming home, recouping, this is first time we'll be seeing him, how he's doing, from what I hear doing great. Don't think Angela's silk long johns/top will fit her; saw pic of her standing next to her dad; only a head shorter!!! Can always exchange them.

Beginning of week went in truck with guy driving turkey hunting; supposedly promised Kim he wouldn't get out of truck, shoot from seat with door open but hard to believe that guy when he starts feeling better. Has checkup on 23rd. That's Monday already; times flies.

Time to wrap some presents. Can't believe Angela is 13 already. Kim said no more parties after this.....thought for sure there'd at least be a Sweet 16 party....altho by then she might want to get together with just her friends.....family's out of the picture, plus she'll be able to drive or start learning....hang onto your hats mom/dad.

61 in house this a.m. and 1 degree outside, thank God no wind.....can only imagine how cold it'll be after the storm goes through and winds pick up. Thank God for my electric blanket. Kitty wasn't feeling to great today. I give her small helping in a.m., make sure that first one stays down, which it did; got 2nd helping. Went to bathroom; bit later she followed me. Came back out in kitchen, 2nd helping didn't stay down, but she was/is learning to vomit right back into the bowl, thank goodness. Happens couple times a month...she preens alot so could be extra hair in tummy.

Kat, I hope you are battened down for the storm and that it ends up not being too bad. It would be a shame if the family party doesn't happen due to the weather. I like to cook but I don't do anything fancy and only use standard seasonings as I like. I really like making a turkey dinner with everything but also like pork roast with sauerkraut and potatoes, roast beef and potatoes, pork chops and rice with mushroom soup; those kinds of meals. Sometimes I come up with a really good chili but since I don't measure it is a bit different each time. Stay warm and bundle up with that sick kitty as she needs some loving to feel better.

I didn't get much sleep but had a good day. I finished sanding a dresser Penny wants me to paint and then painted most of it tonight, first coat that is. Penny came home from work and I suggested going out to one of the Mexican restaurants in town and boy was it great. We haven't been getting out much anyway and the food was really good, we brought home a doggy bag. We dropped of food for Tyrel and went over to see the kids. Emery must have had an energy pill right before we got there. She was running from the door to her mom then the door to dad etc. She wanted me to say get set, go to start her off. She was just a bundle of nonstop energy. The kids got their glass tile backsplash put in and it really goes well with the kitchen. They have all the work done in there except they want to put in new cabinets and flooring when they save the money but there is no rush. Emery reminded me of Tyrel growing up, certainly not her mom who would sit and play, color, or read a book when she was that age. Tyrel was running and jumping just like Emery did tonight. She was having so much fun and made sure she included all of us in her games. I have gotten one nap in tonight and I hope I can sleep the rest of the night or I will sleep all day instead.

Sorry to hear your fighting the insomnia game, it's a hard one but sometimes we get lucky, you will soon :) Do you take anything for it? Lots of people are helped by melatonin but talk to your doc first, he might have a better idea.

Julia aka Jo, I think of you too hun. But it's rare that I can sit and catch up for long anymore, which is bad because everyone pops in when I'm gone and leaves me with a ton of stuff to go through, lol!! I don't mind though, as long as ya don't forget me. I used to be the favorite redhead around these parts but that has probably changed by now. Younger & cuter are coming along faster than I can type, lol!

Kat, it's thrilling to hear Steve is home! I hope it stays that way and he continues getting stronger each day.

LEE!!!! How the heck are ya darlin?? Haven't talked to you in eons. I'm so happy you are getting to spend so much time with Mariah, bonding :) You guys were close before though so there was never any doubt. Besides, now she can keep YOU in line, lol!!!
Did the surgery help?? Well yeah, in a sense it did. The stuff I went in with went away. Sadly symtoms are creeping back in, maybe a little worse even. I see my NS next month sometime, or is it March??? I dunno, I do know my PM NP was going to tattle on me after I saw her last week. Pain worse, legs MUCH worse, she even noticed the weakness :( Glad she didn't make me squeeze her hands, she REALLY would have knonw ;)

Mark my dear, I'm glad to see you are keeping these ladies happy and in line, we both know how rowdy they can get, lol! Sounds like maybe you have gotten some sleep. Forgive me if I read it wrong though as I'm in need of sleep myself!

I've probably forgotten someone and for that I am truly sorry. I didn't see a post from Brigitte, I hope she is doing ok. I know she has a tendency to bury her head in the sand like me ;) Catch me up on those kids!!!!!

I've been ok I guess. Same old same old and all. If I could remove my lower half and take out my neck and hands or at least the carpal tunnel nerves, I'd be set!! My legs have gotten really bad recently, like they weigh a ton and I'm dragging through wet concrete :(

Melanie, "legs feel like I'm walking through wet cement" isn't good. I hope your spinal doctor is working with you on that issue. It is good to see you stop in as I know how hard it is to get here. I have to treat it like the first thing I do when I turn on the computer or I miss 3 to 4 days. I got back to sleep alright. It took until the morning but I slept the day and evening away.


Not much happening on my end as I caught up on the sleep I was missing. I knew it would be Saturday or Sunday so it wasn't a surprise. I need to get on a couple of news web sites and see what happened yesterday so I can catch up. I don't even know if Penny took over painting the dresser while I slept, I will have to go in the workshop and see.

The Super Bowl is coming to Indy and it is Patriots v. Giants once again. I have been up all day now for 25 hours and watch most of each game. They were interesting even if both teams I wanted in lost. We have been very warm today and I dug up some soil and put it around the basement wall - it didn't take much- so the water would rain away from the basement walls. Good thing as we have been under tornado watch and had a big storm come through around 12:15am. We had strong winds hard rain/hail and it kept coming down some times side way. It last for about 30 minutes and it has calmed down now. Besides the games I also worked on the dresser Penny wants in the bedroom. It was bleeding through the paint so I had to do a few things and then start putting a couple of coats of primer with stain blocker on. The best thing is there is no hurry to finish it and it will end up with a number of coats to protect it so it will look nice for years. It gives her more drawers and even though it stands higher it isn't as wide so we will have a bit more room in the bedroom that is dominated by the big bed - it looks that way because the bedroom is small like the rest of the house. Not much else going on, I will read a book and hope to drop off to sleep soon but I don't feel very sleepy right now.
