Hi Dee! Good to see u! A concussion Pati?! I hope u are ok? Gosh that sucks.

Lot of flu stuff goin on around here. P (husband) was sick all day today. Ugh I don't want to get it! Vitamin C up the ying yang all day!

Julia, don't worry sometimes I don't shut up haha!

No hubby doesn't have a job yet. :( it's really tough. We're living on the $800 I make a month right now. Constant calls from creditors - P won't answer them. Doesn't know what to say. Really scary. Thanks for checking in on me tho. :) it'll be ok - and work out how it's supposed to work out I guess?

Lol Julia when you said you'd have parties with people laying all over the floor I just had to laugh out loud lol! Oh yes those were the days huh?!

Oh my son? Yes apple of my eye. :) we're half way through basketball season. The team was doing pretty good then all of a sudden the coach started putting kids in when they really aren't the best player to have in at a certain time (as in u can't have all shooters out there when the other team is 20 points ahead. U need some serious defense)! So yeah, team's not doing so hot. I'm grateful my son earned an continues to earn his starting spot. Definitely.

After basketball is baseball - well it has been for the last 10 years. But now G is a sophomore and he might want to really focus on just basketball and football? He hasn't decided yet. I'm not ready for no more baseball! No I'm not. So I hope he decides to play at least one more year. Doing all three sports is tough because beginning Jan. 1 it was time for football again - workouts after school - along with basketball practice too and games. There's only about 2 months a year where the focus is not on football and basketball. It's hard to fit that 3 months of baseball in on top of it all.

Ok now see Julia? I really do have to shut up hahahah!!!!

Anyway, hope everyone is doing ok. I decided to make this forum my home page so when I open up the Internet u guys are right there. Makes me feel good - not alone in all this.

    Love to all,
    Sly

I was just thinking what do I mean by "all this"? I guess it's just life in general or life as a person who has some emotional issues? Lol nah, everyone's "a little bipolar" someone told me once and I'm like no, not everyone or the world would be a flipping mess! oh it already is haha.

Something I meant to share in my other post: I finally started taking Adderrall on a regular basis and woah! It really helps! I don't know why I wasn't takin it as much. I guess I thought I really didn't need it?! But then stuff gets crazy and I remember "oh yeah, Adderrall helps me focus.. Duh!"

You know what's hard? I hardly get on my computer anymore (its 8 years old and crashes a lot - can't afford a new one bor even a used better one for that matter ugh) so I'm on my phone. Is there such a thing a "carpal thumb syndrome? Cause if there is I have it!

Gotta give the thumbs a rest.

I'm working hard... Praying... Really remembering what's important as much as possible. This is it right? Each day is a new day? The more I tell myself that the better I feel. What is it? The past is history the future is just a mystery so just be in the NOW!

      XO,

I can hardly wait for spring! this cold weather makes me hurt everywhere. at least it's light outside til about 5 pm now. everyday is that much closer to the best time of the year!

Sly,you seem to have a good attitude. hope your DH is feeling much better! I refuse to get a flu shot so hopefully it won't find me this year.

thinking of asking about getting an MRI of my brain. see what all those lesions are doing after all these years. watch my cash stash disappear really quickly then! hey, might even actually get a diagnosis after all this time eh? if I thought my brain was dead before there's no doubt it's gone bonkers now. I have fallen 5 times in the past few months afterall. I recall asking God if he knocked some sense into me when I was in the mud. really-and I'm not so certain of my relationship with God.

having my son here is kinda nice. he cooks for one thing. has the upstairs to himself. is getting some stuff done around here. cleaned the microwave-weird to have someone doing anything for me! I cut his hair today, just pulled it back in a ponytail & wacked it off-easy!

I've lost some more weight! yippee!

it is so good to see that yipee and I am glad that son is helpful. I wish you could afford to have some testing done. It is getting scary with you falling so many times. If you had any trouble at all with your ears, I'd say that was the problem. Butit is frightning just wondering the cause.

I did not get a flu shot either and am holding my breath. Hubby did and wanted me to but did not insist, doubt if his insisting would cause me to cave in. Now fr just holding my breath and hoping. Daughter did get the flu shot because she had it twice when she was younger. Also she has had the shilgles twice and that is usually a much older persons fate.

I figured I'd just stay home and away from people, b ut no, grandaughter is playing basketball so there goes that theory. Getting ready to go to a game right now in fact.

Pati, I too am concerned about all those falls you've had lately. Are you keeping a check on your Blood Pressure? Please get thee to a Dr, pronto. I know, I know, you don't want me to nag at you, but it's because I love you so and you are so far away and I can't run right over and check on you.

I'm glad it is happy times to have your son there. It's nice to have someone to cook and clean for you. Ken does those things for me and I do so appreciate him being so kind. I know it got pretty bad when his Mom was fading away. I do say he gave her his all. It seems to make him happy to do things for me. I do grumble and I'm a "biotch", just like Christina, but I'm working on it.
You've got to take care of yourself.

Joy, its good to see you too. You take care of yourself too. I'm glad Christmas was a happier time this year. It sounds like we all had good times with our famlies this year. I'm hoping that will continue on thru the year.

Sly, so happy to hear you flapping your gums like I do so many times and others also do this. Now that you got that first one it will be easier next time. Also, like the others said, just blowing in the wind to say hi is ok too.

Well, didn't sleep last night and my eyes are closing. Jeannie, I've been missing you, you take care and don't forget to put that bycicle(?) helmet on, don't want a midnight run to ER again.

Christina, the last post I read of yours you were telling us what the Dr. had said. I've heard those same words, except in broken English, but I got the picture. Dr. Mansour was telling me I had COPD. You've got some of the symptoms, I'm no Dr., I just want you to be better. I'm still fighting the old nasty ciggie habit, but I'm trying.

Everybody, enjoy the games this week-end. I sure plan to if I can keep my eye's open.

            love you all, Julia, the

dammit Pati you need to get to the hospital or at least a doctor. Don't make me fly out there and take you myself because I can and will. Won't be today but I will lol. You know I know where you live. You're scaring me. Does your son know you've been falling?

Looks like I'm getting my wish this year. Snow just before Christmas then gone right after New Year's. it's rained for two days and today the sun is warming and the snows is gone, about 60 out.

Am I the only one this bothers? Does this not worry people? Guess its just not worrying the people who hold the purse strings. I tell ya it really screws with my emotional state because spring fever for me can be taken literally. Get kinda looney with my mental state and get this rushing butterfly belly thing going on. The smell of wet fresh earth sends all these weird signals racing through my brain and body. We have a bright nightlight in the bathroom and I went in there last night and sat with the window cracked and a big grin in my face smelling the air rushing in. I'm sure if anyone had come in and seen me in the half light with a crazed grin on my face they woulda tucked me in for the night.

Got a flower catalog in the mail so of course I'm scheming for some new flowerbeds. I have so many plans I don't think I'll ever get it all done.

I am still sick with a stuffy nose and phlegmy cough so have seen neither one off the new babies. Well except for pics. My brother's baby and my sons ex had her baby and we're still pretty close so I'm an honorary aunt there lol. I have been craving holding a baby for a long time now. Hoping that by the end of next week I'll be better. This has been hanging on since the 23rd and I'm am all through with this nonsense.

Sly I am so glad to see you posting often. Boy I sure wish I could get my kid to do something extra curricular. He had his first session of therapy the other day and she suggested joining something he can get into like drama, drawing, or robots. We are going to check our options this week. He's really struggling.

Jo I will have to do a shout out and see who all wants to be picked up on the way down. Lol anybody on the I-75 corridor going south wanna ride to Jo's with me lol?

getting the last of my SS settlement next month so am considering bringing my kid and his family up here from Georgia. Every time I talk to him things are getting worse and there are three small children involved. We're talking long history of child abuse, spousal abuse, drug abuse, child prostitution, child pornography and the girls are talking about things that just should not even occur to 5 and 6 year old little girls. The longer they are there the worse it gets. The 4 yr old is autistic and they are struggling just to get mom to work let alone get him where he needs to be. Kripes ya gotta drive 15-20 minutes just to get to a store where they are. They live in a 10 trailer trailer park in the middle of a forest. Their yard backs on to a cow field with no house in sight. The road in is like a car and a half lanes.

see sly I talk too much too. Tried to do shorter paragraphs to make it easier to read.

Goll dang it Pati get your butt to the doctors. You shouldn't be falling that much. If it was one of us you would tell us to get to the doc.

Chris, those poor kids. No child should grow up that fast and in that situration (?).

Now the venue for the reception wants $500.00 to $700 for a fricken dance floor. The resturant doesn't have a dance floor so in order to have a DJ I need to rent a floor. I don;t see the problem with dancing on carpet. Boy, when there's a wedding everyone wants to nickel and dime ya.

Jo, I forgot to tell you that I quit smoking in Oct and still not smoking but there are times that I would love to have one. I didn't really quit for me but for the family. Health issues really made them get on me to quit.
                Take care,

Ok do you guys REALLY want me flapping my gums, lol?! You're all so sweet - to just let me write and write and write and then actually read it! :) I think it's going to be one of those days right now... There's so much going on around here and I think I need to lay it all out and see what I'm really dealing with.

It's so great to have a place to come do that. I think it's something I've really been missing since I've been away from Braintalk. Another reason why I've GOT to be here!

Whole bunch of issues going on. But you know what? Nothing is THAT BAD. In other words, I know I'm complaining. :( I have it GOOD, you know? I am GRATEFUL. I know, I've been saying that. But I do mean it. Ok well, here I go:

First of all, I apologize. This is going to be all over the place without a flow to it, lol. Just writing what I'm thinking.

So... First thing: My health. I work in child care and fitness. So I'm around dirty stuff all the time. Dirty kids, dirty floors, etc. This fall I started getting sick a lot. Spent about 6 weeks with sinus issues, fevers here and there, etc. I'm healthy though! I work out 5 days a week. I lift weights. I don't eat all that good but in general I'm healthy. So why do I keep getting so sick? It's like I have mono or something? I had that my freshman year of college and it was just a constant "I have the flu" every week for a few days it seemed.

Thursday it happened again. Bad stomach stuff... Had to teach a class; thought I might throw up. Didn't but woah was it a hard night after that. :( Friday I'm still sick but I go to work and get sent home (just child care). I go to my son's basketball game and everyone's like "your face is so red" and I almost felt like I really wasn't there. I was so out of it with fever, etc. Then I have three fitness classes I have to teach Saturday. I cancel two but can't find a sub for the one I can't cancel.

Taught class at 7:15 am that Saturday morning; came home and laid around until I had to go to a memorial for one of my son's teammate's mom who passed away. :( So sad. Only 44 - she had breast cancer that had spread to her bones and was in hospice for a month. They knew she would pass away - they just didn't know when. Still - you can't prepare and it's so hard.

After that back home again to lay in bed and watch TV. I don't think I'm really that good at relaxing. I mean, I can't stand being sick and I know I don't rest properly. In other words, I never give my self time to get better and that's why I'm always sick all the time? Probably.

The other thing that's going on is my feet. They're so cold and lose circulation really fast. It doesn't matter what socks I wear; they're still cold. I go to bed with shoes on sometimes! I'm serious. They're freezing right now and I have wool socks on. Every once in a while part of my finger will go numb. Or my lip. Weird stuff. It's probably a circulation problem - or Reynauld's Disease i think? Is that what it's called?

Anyway, I think it's really bad and I can't go to the doctor. We don't have health insurance.

My husband is in real estate. He's been in it for about 7 years. I got laid off from my high-paying job 3 years ago. I can't work like that any more. I've tried. Bipolar, depression, OCD, etc. I can't remember things. I can't work more than about 4 hours without flipping out. Have been laid off/fired from various places. Finally I'm at the Y teaching fitness and watching kids. Something I CAN do. it's great, actually.

But anyway, my husband needs a job - NOW! We have about $800 a month coming in from me. That's it. last time he closed on a house was about six months ago. Since I got laid off in 2009 we've claimed bankruptcy, borrowed thousands of dollars from relatives, etc. Right now we have nothing money-wise. No 401k's, no savings, no college fund for G. it's all gone. My husband in real estate has caused this. Until now he has pretty much refused to find a "real job." He's looking now finally but I'm scared. Creditors are calling. They have been for a month. he hasn't picked up the phone. Doesn't know what to say. No one to borrow from now. If we lose this house I will SCREAM!!!!

So yeah, VERY stressed out and I'm sure that's why my feet are freezing, etc. I take lots of meds too that probably contribute to it and I have dry mouth all the time.

                  BLAH.

The other thing that's up with me is a bad attitude when it comes to my son's basketball team. G has been a starter since 6th grade. Always one of the better kids - I mean, I can say that here, right? So at the beginning of the season the coach rates him really bad and doesn't play him for about 5 of the games. G had sprained his ankle really bad in football and wasn't able to try out well. I can't believe these coaches don't say something to each other!

Anyway, it's all good - he's starting now and playing a lot. But last Friday? The coach sat him most of the game and we lost - by 16 points - coincidentally about the same amount of points my son gets each game. I was LIVID! And it was on the night that the boys wore pink because one of their team mates's moms passed away the day before from cancer. The day BEFORE??? And I'm worried about my son playing in a stupid game??? Where are my priorities???

Since then I've gotten better at dealing with my son's basketball team. The coach plays crappy players at the time when you need good players in. It's a long story but I still can't believe how much energy it's taking out of me!

Then all I can think of is that my son will be going to college in two years. COLLEGE?? Where does the time go? I'm freaked. One day he was 5 and now he's 15?!! I'm having a hard time dealing with it... And what I need to do is live in the moment. Think about TODAY - not two years from now when he graduates. DUH!!

I guess what I'm saying is, I'm a mess. :( But I'm not, you know?

I don't know where the heck I'm at in this whole post... I think I might have to post it and go back and read later. I feel totally selfish. Worthless. BLAH. Everything's always about me. SO NOT TRUE. Why can't I see that?

I bet none of this makes any sense at all.

I'm sorry. I'm going to send... And come back... After I read this and figure out what the heck I'm trying to say. :(

                      sly !

great idea...start the thread and whoever want's to participate, can. we can post our favorite self-empowerment quote's or just comment! i've been doing this a long time, not specifically with kabbalah, but kabbalah is okay, christianity is okay and whatever other religious belief's you have are okay, too! i don't think it even has to be tied into a religion. only one suggestion...i'd like a more positive title...something with "victory" or just something positive. we all know we fight a daily battle, i think it's important, like kabbalah say's, that we already know it's a battle and therefore we know we can win!

now, about your post above .

it's tough watching your child play sport's. it's easier to watch when you know your child is good at the sport and is alway's a starter. it's harder to watch when your child alway's sit's on the sideline's. personally, i think there should be no competition at the grade school level, meaning everyone who want's to play the sport will be taught the rule's, the mechanic's of the game and everyone will get equal play time. children develop at different rate's. a child who is clumsy one year can be a star the next year! that's why everyone should be equal. high school sport's are more competitive. teenager's are trying to get sports scholarship's to college. encourage your son, but don't lose sight of what is really important. chill.

just wondering sly, if you've ever been checked for a low thyroid problem? your symptom's sound a lot like that. your stomach prob's sound like gallbladder issues, maybe. my advice...stop borrowing money from relative's and get yourself on state aid (medicaid). it's not forever, it's for now, when everyone need's to stay well and fed and your income is low. you can get food stamps and medical care and maybe some money to pay bill's. do not be embarassed to do this. it is only until hubby get's back on his feet! and then please go and see a doctor about your probs.

pati, i agree with all the people above who say to go and see your doctor! i know how much you hate them, but it seem's like the one you have now, who explained blood sugar to you, was at least helpful. you would tell me the same thing if i were sick!

dawn. i'm glad you checked in! how nice that your daughter is getting married! i agree about the floor, people dance on carpeting all the time. the price to have a wedding is getting ridiculous! your daughter and you should decide what's more important...splurge on a few important thing's than go cheap on other thing's. and remember, the wedding is not the marriage, so no use getting into debt for it, better to have a nice down payment on a house.

chris . i surely hope shortcake can get out of this hard time in his life. i'm glad he's in therapy and i do think he need's something extra-curricular to do. b's probs...they seem overwhelming! if you breing them up here, they become your prob's and maybe shortcake will not be able to handle the stress? i dunno. i think they are all adult's there. i feel sorry for the little girl's, but the mom has to be willing to get help for them and she can get help for them down there. i would support b in caring for this woman and her little girl's, i don't know if i would want to be responsible for them, though. it is up to you and i trust you to make good decision's.

julia and joy, it is alway's nice to see you both posting, cause i know ya'll aren't feeling too well lately . i caught something from my daughter last week, it's right in the middle of my throat and i want to cough, but i can't cause it hurt's. i bought some vick's vaporub (i this stuff!). i am drinking liquid's like a thirsty madwoman. i hope we all feel better soon!

hey to deedee, clouds, fig, ging, jingle (you haven't been here in a while!), jan and labella and everyone else who i can't remember right now...and it's your fault cause you prolly haven't checked in for a while .

i am picking out tile for my kitchen. i hate these small, inch-square tiles. with 4 different pattern's on each sheet, it look's like a mess to me. they don't stock 3 or 4 inch square tiles anymore, cause they are unpopular! well, i'll look at what they have in 2 inch-square tile's, but i think i'm going to want 3 inch-square one's. i do think 4 inch-square one's do look out of date.

well, off i go! i wanted to get a haircut this week, i hope i feel better in a couple of day's.

thank you for caring and sharing,

I wish we could get state aid but can't. Hubby still makes too much every year. An what is too much? Well above the federal poverty level of course. :(

I have a script for a thyroid med and I keep forgetting to fill it. Thing is the doc sai my levels were fine when I wasn't taking it.

Son's basketball game was awful. I'm depressed. That's what it is. Why is it that we take antidepressants but still get depressed?? I don't get it.

Pati, I remember you saying something about an MRI? Is that relates to the concussion? Or just something you had already planned?

Joy, hope u didn't get any of this flu studf. They don't recommend flu shots for just everyone right? I think they should! It's nuts around here.

Someone's daughter is getting married?! Dawn, right? Oh yes you were talking about costs. I can't even imagine what a wedding costs these days. I got married 21 years ago an it was thousands of dollars back then! It'll be so much fun tho! Congrats!

                          ((((((Hugs))))) to all!

                          Love,
                          Sly

sly, you keep on blabbing all you want. You sure have a lot on your plate. I bet working out relieves some of that stress that you have.

I think they are giving flu shots to everyone now. At least here they are. Every night on the news they talk about getting a flu shot. I have to get one every year because of my health issues. There seems to be a lot of people getting the shot this year because some places are running out of the shot.

Some people are still getting the flu even thou they had a shot. I guess the flu won't last as long if you get the shot. I hope not to find out if that is true. I don't leave the house much so the DH or DD would have to bring it home to my.

The latest on the wedding front is we might have too many people for the wedding venue. We are hoping that his side doesn't make this a reunion. He's from out of state. Montana, where they will move to after the wedding. The DD is thinking about having something little in montana for his side. Hopefully, his parents will let people know so they don't have to all drive out here.

I don't think all of the 60 people on the parents list will be coming to the wedding. My DH is having a heart attack just thinking about it. I just keep telling her everything will work out. Don't worry about it.

I hope everyone is feeling good.

we are a fine bunch, yes? of course we are. we can tackle anything as long as we stick together.

Christina, I sent you email. If you will send me your Tele # ,again I will call you. Hang in there Queenie ((((hugs))))

Sly you remind me of myself. I once spent 5+ weeks in an inpatient pain clinic. The purpose of me being there was to help me deal with chronic migrine's and to learn to RELAX!! Now that is pitiful, could not relax, that was the hardest thing in the world for me to do. I finally got the hang of it, but still have to drag that old tool box of help out now and again.
You will make it, Sly. Have faith in yourself and stop apologizing for stuff!! We all slide back here and there. Just brush yourself off and hop on that Victory wagon and keep on trucking. ((((Sly))))

Dawn dear one, you need to relax a bit and enjoy getting ready for that wedding. Somethings we need to do, others are nice, but the wedding will be great even if you don't have that perfect floor to dance on. This is a special time in your life, enjoy it to the max!

Every now and again I get a little misty eyed because I will never be the "mother of the bride". Then I think of all the times I wasn't the mother of the bride, but ended up doing everything else cause the brides mother gets pissed about something silly. lol

now, you take that bull by the horns, contact the mother of the groom and point blank ask her how many are comming, or are they just going to have a little something where they live because it is so far away. Even if they do come I don't see any reason you are responsible for the grooms family finding lodging, their meals etc. I would also make that clear.

Then ask if they will be hosting the rehearsel dinner. Ask where, give them the # of people you will have to come etc. I know you know all these things, you just relax and enjoy your daughters finest hour. You will be great and as beautiful as the bride. After all, she is YOUR daughter! ((((Dawn))))

Will be back shortly, Jo, the old bossy granny grits
