Thanks for the Happy Birthday, Pati. I'm just happy I'm still alive! Well I'll just say a little bit about Ryleigh today.

They dropped in a little while this afternoon. She is so sweet even though the min. she walked in the door and giving my neck a hug all the time looking thru the house saying "papa papa papa". He was in the shower and that stinker was watching the whole time waiting for him!!

She is such a smart little girl. I don't know a word she can't say, she draws, and he Dad will say a word and she will draw a picture of a glass of milk. She makes my heart happy.

Clouds, I hope your cold is getting better. Joy and Christina, am glad things are looking up for you both, but I know you are not well yet so don't over do.

Glad Jans home and she sounds happy about that. I can not believe it has turned late fall, leaves falling off tree's, Ken turned the thermastat up last night and of course I was sweating all night. Weird weather all year. I'll be glad when the election is over. I'm tired of hearing about it.

Hope all that is missing isn't sick and will be back soon. Take care all, Jo

hey all, typing hunt and peck style on my iPad. I must admit that even though the iPad can do basically the same thing I surely do miss my keyboard. I like to be able to hit the keys so that I know what I'm typing I like the way it feels. On my iPad it is a smooth screen thank goodness for the backspace button lol.

I have doctors appointments all this week, so tired of going to the doctor. Saw my pulmonologist yesterday and he said not to worry about those spots on my lungs. Said that they were very small but I would need another CT scan in six months. I will quit smoking and we will keep an eye on them he said that it was just at the beginning of wanting to switch over into emphysema. So Friday when I see my primary doc I'll ask him about starting on Chantix. i am very tired of smoking. Slight chronic bronchitis. Scawee.

we now have a new car and a new puppy. Nissan sentra 2008 and a pure bred daschund. Tiny little guy, six and a half weeks old. Too young to really be away from his momma which kinda made me mad, she said momma quit feeding but I got the impression she needed some money and she was on her way to take the last puppy to its new home when she left my house. Shortcake named him Dash.

cj is finally back to work this week thank goodness lol, he had the last three weeks off and the only things that got done was 2 trees chopped up and he fell one of the two trees that needed to come down. I am waiting for the last one, which is split right down the middle, to come down on one or both of the trees near it.

garage is slowly but surely getting cleaned out, hoping to be able to park in it this winter.

Got the building done for shortcakes room just need the last of he install done. I'm gettin there. Slowly but surely.

nothin else to say cept I hurt like the dickens all the time. Taking the next day or two off. Giving my foot and ankle a bit of a break.

good to read from everyone, hugs a smooches for a better day tomorrow.

not anything new but it sure is great to hear from anyone who posts here. you al take care and don't let the old wintery blues get you down. it is trying its best to do that for me but i ain't going down without a fight, LOL. the mid afternoon is the best time of day here because of the sunshine and it really is light in the computer room.

now i bought a new pair of rubber type boots at our local farm/fee4d supply store for playing in the snow this winter. well guess what, I now have 2 pair, LOL because i had forgot i had bought a pair couple of years ago. and also had given a nice furry lined navy one to daughter-in-law to wear. she has kept them so I might as well write them off and say well good i have plenty of boots to wear noiw. hubby had thrown my firefighter boots away!! they had gotten so rotten in places etc. but the steel in the toe was stil there. guess i hang onto things to much is the reason my house is so cluttered. gotta finish up take care everyone. pati your crock pot cooking sounds mmum good.

well if fall weather brings more activity to BT then I'm sure glad!

I want to get some kind of food slicer/dicer thing. my thumbs just can't take veggie slicing anymore. anyone have one they like?

don't think I've mentioned Kermit the frog lately? well he has a friend. and that friend jumped onto my shoulder the other day & I'm surprised I didn't have a heart attack!

Jo,I'm with you totally about the election. we are getting a new governor too this year. and still voting on stuff we've been voting on for years it seems! everytime things come out one way the opposition just turns right around & get enough signatures to bring it up again. I figure everyone is lying anyways.

Chris, happy you are hobbling around these days & got a new rig to drive & a new puppy too! bet Shortcake will be happy his room is almost done.

Joy,don't feel bad about buying boots you already had. I now have 4 prs of black pants! keep buying them when find nice ones @ my favorite consigment shop not realizing I don't need them. oh well-only one pair actually fit right. bugs me that my memory is getting so bad though!

summer is over here. nice while it lasted though. wish I had a bit of energy but I don't. so much I should be doing & I just ignore my to do list everyday. housemate would pay for someone to clean but I'm not even motivated enough to find a service. guess I just don't give a hoot anymore eh?

patio window has killed 5 birds now. you'd think they could see the dirt & fly the other way wouldn't you? only one side got cleaned & it's the outside part. oh well.....

the neighbor's/renters have split up. he's moved to Seattle. she has paid the rent for a long time anyways since he lost his job. this split was not a surprise to anyone. sad cause they have 2 little boys though.

that is sad about family splitting up, for the kids especially it must be hard for them to understand.

my ears are bad now and i am having all kinds of sounds. and some i hear sounds like meanness nai,s clipping on the hardwood floor, so you know i am still missing him. let's face it, i ain't much for cold weather. i visited rocky's grave just a few weeks ago, that the little boy that drowned in the lake behind mothers house (back in the 70's). i sure am trying my darndest to keep the blues away. hubby just came in right now and told me that my brother has prostrate cancere. the plans are to have surgery and remove it. i know all the stuff that scared me about daddys cancer that brother got some of as well so i am hooing for things to pick up and go well with brothr now as well *** the rest of my fiends that are battling dreadded disease of all kinds, especially cancer.

              hey everyone !

i have been battling a nagging cough this past week. the sneezing went away quickly, but the coughing felt like i had stuff in my airways. but, i feel better today so i think the worst is over. it turned downright chilly here this past week. i think it was down to freezing this morning, pretty early for michigan.

wanted to paint my bathroom this week i didn't get around to it. i washed the walls and sanded away some minor mildew in the tub area. today, i have to put "killz' on as a primer to seal out whatever might get through, then i might be able to put on one coat of paint. i am putting in the last of the perennial flowers for this year. i got some edging bricks and made a circle in the yard so i could put my butterfly bush there and some catmint and daylilies. i also put in some pink allium bulbs, let's see how those do. the great thing about perennials is you can always move them if you don't like what you did one year.

well, i just wanted to check in. i have to start moving, though i really still don't feel like it.

thank you for sharing and caring ,
              jeannie

                    clouds,

i still use vicks vapo-rub. it has mentholatum and camphor in it and it really soothes your air pathways, throat and chest when you have a cough. it works the best for me. they still have those vicks inhalers and you can keep them on you for a whiff every now and then.

i read in another thread where you were asking what happened to the chronic fatigue syndrome forum. beader had asked mike weins about it and he said it was one of the least used forums before, but they would bring it back if enough people asked. maybe put in a request in "forum feedback" if you want it back?

dreary day in detroit, light rain all day, very cool temps. think i will force myself to put that coat of killz on the bathroom walls.

found a website that has low-cal recipes for the slow cooker: Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register... ..your comment about finding it hard to cut...if you had a really sharp knife, it would be a lot easier. i see a lot of food choppers, they vary in price. google "foodchopper reviews" and see which ones are recommended, here's one i saw, still requires you to push though, (Only registered and activated users can see links., Click Here To Register...). there are slicing tools called mandolins for slicing, kind of pricey, though. i use my cuisinart all the time now cause i hate chopping, but i have sharp knives, so slicing is fine and if it's a small amount of food i will still chop with a knife.

hope you are all enjoying your saturday, wherever you are!

I have a Vegamatic. I got mine at a garage sale for a dollar. It has 2 cutting rings and a wedge cutter with it. When I make mashed potatoes I cut the potato like french fries and they cook up fast and takes little effort to mash. I don't know if you can still find new ones or not.

thanks ladies. for now I'm using my housemate to chop/slice! he eats afterall.

we are having stormy weather here the past few days. summer is indeed over.

housemate was only gone 2 nights for this year's hunting trip. no deer. he could have stayed here if he only wanted to see a deer-haha.

I've been cutting back perennials. I do still have some planters with pretty annuals-they are protected under the new roof. one good rain & the mums are goner's.

sorry I don't have anything exciting to share....my life is extremely dull these days. hope all is good in your worlds.

A woman of my church, who has MS, is in the Manor. She broke her knee in one leg and her thigh bone in the other leg when transferring from her wheel chair to the toilet. She has been in the Manor for over three months and they were doing therapy with her. She was finally ready to go home and they didn't do any therapy on her upper body. When trying to transfer she pulled a muscle in her side and couldn't go home. She was in a downward spiral, so I brought my laptop to her to use. It helped to pick her mood up. The Manor has wireless internet and should be fixed by the end of the week and she will get a password so she can check her email. She now has 4 months to catch up on. She also likes some of the games I have installed on my laptop.

Jan, that was so nice of you to bring that lady your laptop. I'm sure she really appreiated it,

Not much is going on with me. I'm in one of my depress periods. I did go to an art class on Wednesday. I was going to skip it but it cost so much. We made glass coasters. It was a really neat process. We stamped with special ink onto the glass our design then the glass is heated up to melting stage, they will look really great when done.

We had our first snow today, Yay, not! Here we go through another winter. At least it didn't stick.

I was suppose to pick up my daughter at her job but the truck battery is dead. I have to call DH and have him leave work early to pick her up. That makes sense right. He leaves early to pick her up. We brought her a car but the BF drives her to work and then I pick her up because the BF has to work. They only have one car.

I have been wanting to work but the DH is totally against it. He doesn't want me to have any stress that would put me into the hospital again. But I tell you I'm going to go nuts and have to go to the cracker factory just sitting around here. I'm still applying but not telling him. I'll deal with it at that time.
                            Take care,

                              Our Niece

Our niece passed away from cancer in the middle of October. She was diagnosed a little more than a year ago. The chemo and radiation treatments failed to halt the progression of the cancer. The news was never hopeful after the treatments.

She was 57 years old and was a high school English teacher for 3 decades.

Her mother is my sil and is 86 years old. This lady took her daughter to most of the medical and treatment appointments. She was there at the hospice early in the morning when her lovely daughter passed away.

It is not often we hear of an elderly mother caring for a younger daughter especially at the age of my sil. It is usually just the opposite.

                              Take Care all of you

                              mrs j
